Getting Organized With Buckets

So we are into the new home and I am trying desperately to get organized! I saw a really fun idea on the website Creative Organizing. She uses buckets to organize everything from art supplies, to shower and cleaning products, remote controls and more! Here’s some of her pictures!

Don’t you love her ribbon and tags! Adorable!

Here is my attempt to copy her idea. In the home schooling room, I have buckets with the kid’s names on them. I plan to put their school supplies in there (as soon as I figure out which box I put them in lol!).

I have 4 bathrooms in the new home so I got four buckets and they are not all filled with all the correct items yet (again – hoping to find that box soon too lol!) – but you get the idea. I put one beneath each bathroom sink.

Now I am on a mission to find buckets because my closets need to get into tip top shape too! I expect to be able to find lots of cute ones in stores this spring! I also need to buy some ribbons and tags! Maybe once I complete this project, I’ll show you pictures again – but I was so excited I wanted to share it with you all now! If you are looking for an organizing idea – this one is buckets of fun!

  1. I love this idea! I use buckets for homework/ art supplies on our homework table, but I never thought about using them for cleaning supplies for different rooms of my house! Thanks for posting this!!

  2. I love the idea, I use buckets in my kids rooms as well. I found some really nice buckets at Hobby Lobby, in the kids section.
By the way, I love reading your blog.

  3. What a fun idea! I love it!!
I've tried something similar with glass jars (for smaller items). When we finish with a salsa jar, etc.. (the shorter, wider jars) ~ I clean them and use them to store pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc.. When it's time for homework, I can put all of our jars in the middle of the table for the 4 kids to share. Free, helpful, and fun! Amazing what a little ribbon can do!

I'll have to give the buckets a try. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I LOVE this idea and I am doing it! Todd and I were just at Bed Bath and Beyond last night looking at baskets to "contain" clutter like wii controllers, remotes, and other random "kid clutter". Baskets are pricey! These buckets are much less costly and adorable! Perfect timing! Can't wait to put this into effect!

  5. Adorable and pratical! It doesn't get any better than that! I think I may be inspired to take a trip to Target! ;0)

  6. I like the idea of a bucket for each bathroom. We use mainly white vinegar for cleaning. The only bottle of it is a really big one that we keep in the kitchen. However, having it in separate spray bottles in each bathroom with scrubbing tools, sponges, and cleaning towels would be really helpful and convenient!

  7. What a fabulous idea!

I have a friend that does this – with baskets (minus the cleaning supplies). She has baskets for EVERYTHING – even to hold her towels in the bathroom closets. All she has to do is slide out the basket and put the fresh towels on top.

Plus – it makes it look pretty – so much in fact, she removed the door to her linen closet in the bathroom and it's now almost like a "display" area. So tidy!

  8. What a great idea! I need all the organizing tips I can get:) I see your So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore on the shelf- I'm reading it now!

  9. I am going thru a difficult time right now with my youngest son whose wife has moved out of the house. Just separation right now, don't know what will happen next. My son has a brain injury from a 17 ft fall around 5 years ago. I know things have been difficult for all, but my son has been having a hard time with the separation. I pray every day for some good news. Plese keep me and my family in your prayers.

Thank you for reaching out – I just said a prayer for you and your son's marriage.

    Much love,

  11. Came over from Oct 18th post – this is a GREAT idea. A bucket under each sink is just fantastic because it would mean I don't have to carry from room to room. Thanks for sharing this idea.

  12. Love this idea! I’d love to keep a bathroom cleaning bucket underneath each sink but my 2 and 4 year old would surely find it and attempt to spray each other with cleaning chemicals. Lol for now I keep one bucket for my 3 bathrooms tucked away in a closet. I’ve got the cleaning thing going for me, now if I could only get organized “super woman” style. One day, one day…
