Your Kids Will Love Octopus Hotdogs!

Janelle from ComfynKitchen has done it again!  Look how cute this is!!!

She writes: “I will admit, I will NOT get “cook of the year” with this one, lol. However, I WILL get plenty of smiles, giggles and clean plates! This is a cute little dinner I made for my children when we were getting ready to go to my son’s baseball game. They got a huge kick out of it….hope your children will too.

Simply slice a hotdog in half leaving the top in tact for the head of the “octopus”. Then, turn and slice again. You will have 4 “legs”.

Boil water in a large pot on the stove. Add hotdogs. The legs will begin to curl up.
Boil for appx 5 mins.

Serve on top of Kraft Mac n Cheese! I made eyes with mustard- you can get as creative as you wish.

May this bring smiles to YOUR table.
Love to you, Janelle

(This would be super cute for a pirate themed child’s birthday party-inexpensive too!)
Thank you Janelle!!!!

  1. How super cute!! I love this. I wish I saw this earlier today because I made mac and cheese today for lunch for the kids, haha! Next time for sure!

  2. This is VERY cute. I’ll have to tweek this a bit my boy don’t like mac-n-cheese

  3. Oh. My. Word! These are ridiculously adorable!! I’m not a big hot dog fan, and even less so if they are boiled. However I would literally eat this hot dog just because of how it looks!! I so wish I had a kid or two to make these for!

  4. I’m not exactly sure what my kids would think of that lol….. but I’m interesting in trying. Maybe for lunch tomorrow… hmmmm..

  5. This post is almost exactly like the one I put on my blog almost 10 months ago and linked up on Wednesday Link Up. One of my kids’ favorites! Glad to see someone is reading my blog!

  6. I was just thinking about how I needed to blog about octopus/squid hot dogs! :) How funny! The Japanese culture comes up with the most interesting foods.

  7. This is so stinkin cute! Maybe it will get my little one to actually eat something : )

  8. They are cute for sure…but the sight of them boiling in the water with those “legs” all curled up…..it just gives me the heebie jeebies!! LOL!! I KNOW it’s just a hot dog, but my insides get all squishy feeling when I see it. Don’t think I could handle it. The kids would love it though!!

  9. This is such a cute idea. I think I will try it on my grandchildren; they will love it.
    Blessings to you!

  10. What a cute idea!!!! I loved how they were “swimming” around in the water while you boiled them! I think my daughter is too young to appreciate this, but I will definitely be saving it for future reference.

  11. Thanks Ladies…My children loved ordering these from the kids menu at a local restaurant. I asked the cook how he did it-SO simple! I thought I could save some money and just make em at home ;) I always get a smile from them when I make these…hope your children will enjoy these. Love to you, Janelle

  14. I found your blog through Kelly’s Korner and wanted to tell you that your idea is adorable! I keep thinking it could be a cute idea for a VBS snack if you were doing an “under the sea” theme. I’m going to remember this. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Do you understand that this is high time to receive the credit loans, which would make you dreams real.

I love hearing what is on your heart.
