Waiting On God

“Joshua had to wait seven days as he obediently marched around Jericho before God rewarded his patience and brought the walls down.

Israel waited for the Messiah to come. Mary waited nine months for Jesus’ birth. Jesus waited for the woman of Samaria to come to the well, Mary and Martha waited for Jesus to come to Bethany, and Jesus Himself waited three days in the tomb for the resurrection. A person who lives in submissive obedience to Christ is a person who is often called to wait.

~Ann Graham Lotz

If you are waiting on God in prayer remember Isaiah 40:28-31:

“Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”

  6. I am not the most patient person and my due date for my first child was last Thursday. It’s hard to be patient and wait on God’s timing because I want him here now! Thanks for the encouraging post. It is good to remember to wait on God – He has the plan all in place.

  7. Wonderful post, and great reminder! I really enjoy your blog- Thanks :)

  8. Thanks for the simple post and the encouraging Scripture. It seems like I’ve been in a period of “waiting” in every area of my life for awh ile now ;) :) I loved the reminder that it’s actually a good thing, because God only wants His best for us :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  9. Oh Courtney, my heart needed this today! We have been waiting on God for another baby for a long time and sometimes it can get so discouraging. (just being transparent!)
    But we KNOW that God has our best in mind, so we keep praying to the one who works all things for our good! :)

  13. this has been my heart for several years but I am coming to realize that I am waiting on “answers” that He has already given in some areas..I am just not accepting them or seeing them. God has always been faithful and I trust Him in that as I continue to wait:) Sally Clarkson had a blog on this a few weeks back that I appreciated.
