The Proverbs 31 Woman – Week 10

This week we are going to focus on verse 27.

Proverbs 31:27

She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

It is true that we as women – when we grow idle – can take our eyes off glorifying God and off  our own family’s needs and end up looking at what others are doing and become jealous or discontent.  We don’t want to spend our free-time making ourselves miserable!  Even our free-time can be productive.  We can read an inspiring book, talk with a friend on the phone, or create something with our hands that we enjoy and blesses others – like a yummy dessert!

The Proverbs 31 woman isn’t watching television or watching Facebook status updates – she’s watching over the affairs of her household.

You are irreplacable in your home – never forget that!  Your watchful eye and diligence will make your home a pleasant place for everyone who comes through your doors.

Look around where you sit – has your home been neglected?  You don’t want to see my school room right now peeps!  I cleaned out a cupboard in another room and pulled about 50 books off the shelf there.  Then I dropped them on the floor of the school room thinking I’d come back and shelf them on another day…well weeks later there they still sit…and I type along ignoring the mess around me lol!  These verses are convicting me!  I need to take some of my idle time and shelf those books!!!

Week 10 Challenge: Make sure to spend time together around the table this week and ask each member their “High” and “Low” for the day…..spend time discussing what each person shares. Also, pay attention to how you spend your down time….is what you’re watching, reading, listening to helping your walk with Christ or hurting it? Are you growing in wisdom because of how you’re spending your time?

Now it’s your turn, how do you put Proverbs 31: 27 into action?

Walk with the King,

  1. I just have to say, I have LOVED this study! I am excited every Monday morning to get up and see what God has you lovely ladies cooking up for us (sometimes literally) each week! ;o)
Thank you for obeying his call for these blogs and for all you share with us. Excellent work!

  2. Wow…there was already at post at 7:42am and I once I read it, I knew I too had to respond. Courtney & Angela – you’re an inspiration! I agree with Marissa G. – I look forward to each Monday morning to hear the message God has given to each of you from Proverbs 31. This has been a wonderful encouragement! Praise God for you and may you be blessed as you continue to minister God’s Word and message for living as women through your blog.

    1. Thank you so much, Jennifer……we soooo appreciate you and your desire to “walk with the King” and “love God greatly” with your life! 🙂 Thanks for your sweet words of encouragement today! 🙂

  3. Angela, it was neat to see your family. I am new to GMG and WLW. I’ve just started with you ladies since the Proverbs 31 study- which I love!!! Anyway, neat to see your family because it really looks to mirror mine. I have three girls 7,5, and 20 mos. School room? I homeschool. Just saw those parallels and thought I’d send a note. Thanks for your great words today. This has been an awesome study.

  4. Hi Arianna!!! Well welcome to WLW and GMG!!! We are sooo glad you’re joining us! 🙂 Ohhh don’t you just love having 3 girls!!!! I have my own women’s ministry right in my home!!!! 🙂 Thanks for joining us today, Arianna! 🙂

  5. Happy Belated Birthday to Addie! My own 5 year old is a ‘pink princess’ herself so I can relate! Thank you for sharing your beautiful family Angela! This post was so convicting for me. My mother always used to say “The devil makes work for idle hands”. Its so easy when the children are on holidays and life slows down to become lazy and idle. Thank you for this timely reminder. There are more than enough hours in the day for us to relax and have fun AND do something productive as well. God bless you and Courtney for all that you do and share with us!

  6. Hey, Ladies! I wanted to share a way God has showed me to enjoy “girl” time without neglecting my home. We work on projects together while we visit. A friend of mine started something called Crafternoons at her house a few years ago. We were all invited to bring any project we wanted to her home once a week. Then, we all sat and chatted while we worked and the kids played. This summer I have made it a point to set up the same kind of working play dates at my house. I have gotten so much done…all in the company of good friends:)
