August 26th, is my 38th Birthday – cue the confetti!! 🙂
And it also happens to be my dear friend and recipe extraordinaire’s birthday too – Janelle from Comfy in the Kitchen! This photo below was taken of us on our birthday 2 years ago. We are birthday twins – – I love sharing a birthday with her and I love how God works even in these small details of our lives.
My gift to myself is a day off from writing (so this will be a very unspiritual post lol!).
But I’ll share with you a present I got on Saturday (a few days early) from my husband.
First – let me say that I asked for this – so this was not a hint from him that I need to change. And secondly, this is not a paid ad or anything like that – we paid full retail for it and I have not tried it out yet – so I am not “endorsing” this!
It’s a desk – with pedals – ha! It has a flat surface where I can set my laptop, iPad or Bible and work – while I pedal.
We all know that a sedentary lifestyle is not only unhealthy, it’s dangerous for our health. And since I’ve taken up blogging and writing a book, I’ve spent a lot of hours sitting. SO, I saw another blogger instagram a photo of her FitDesk and I knew immediately I should give this a try. It won’t be my “hard” workout for the day. I will still use my elliptical in the evening for my 30 minute cardio workout. But I am hoping that in the early morning or late afternoon, when I’m doing my Facebook, Twitter and blog browsing I can get some blood pumping.
I mentioned I got this gift a few days early because my husband has to work late on my birthday 🙁 boooooooo – so they’ll be no celebrations on my actual birthday – but he did take me out to dinner on Saturday at one of my favorite restaurants –Red Lobster 🙂 . Here are some pictures from that night (the kids love the lobster tank and my husband was using his engineering degree to engineer a tower out of the coasters and toothpicks lol!):
After dinner, I got to enjoy my kid’s first scrimmage. Alex is playing football for our public school team and Alexis is a cheerleader FOR his team! Alex had two great tackles Saturday and Lexi’s gymnastics classes are finally getting some use!
This week we begin our first week of homeschooling. I’ll share our first day of school photos and our curriculum a little later on the blog.
That’s all for now!! Have a great new week everyone!
