Making Your Home a Haven Fall Challenge is Back with an iPad Mini Giveaway!

Join me in making our home a haven for our families. Together we'll make our homes a haven of peace, joy, tranquility, and fun for all who enter. #WomenLivingWell #homemaking #friendship #makingyourhomeahaven

Welcome to the 4th Annual “Making Your Home a Haven” Fall Challenge.

If you’ve been around a while – you know all about this fall challenge and might already have your candle going right now!

This year is going to be the biggest Fall Challenge we’ve ever had because – {cue the confetti} we are celebrating the launch of my JUST RELEASED THIS WEEK – book titled: Women Living Well ~ Finding Your Joy in God, Your Man, Your Kids and Your Home. And the publisher has teamed up with me to give out some amazing gifts to WLW readers!!!!  {squeal – this is too exciting!!!}

But first let me explain the Challenges for newbies 🙂 then we’ll get to the prizes!

Each week I will give you one practical tip and one spiritual tip that you can do to create a haven in your home.

Is your calendar full? Do you feel tense, rushed and even panicked at times? Do you feel like the rest of the family is feeling the same way?

I believe we can create a physical environment, as well as a spiritual environment, that can bring peace, harmony and a sense of calmness to our homes if we are willing to be intentional.

This challenge will run through the month of October. Check out the video and topics below. If you would like to join me and you are a blogger – I invite you to place my image above, on your blog, and link it back to this post. If you are not a blogger, leave a comment in the comment section to let me know that you would like to join the challenge. If you have not subscribed to my blog – just subscribe in the side bar so you receive the weekly emails!

(if you can’t see the video: click here)

Here’s the topic schedule:

Week 1: October 7th –Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time. Do what makes sense for your family. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.

The Giveaway:
A year’s supply of Yankee Candles (12 large Jar Candles)
Week 2: October 14 – Plan a Family Fun Night.   Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids or your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn.  Bust out some old fashioned games and take the time to savor these moments with your loved ones.  Work on gentleness this week.
The Giveaway:
10 Pack of Games including – Checkers, Scrabble, Monopoly,
Uno, Battleship, Pictionary, Apples to Apples, Candy Land, Risk, & Life.
Week 3: October 21 – Focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home.  Cook things with pleasant aromas  like homemade bread, pies, and cookies.  Don’t wait to have a reason to make something special – do it simply to show love to your family. Invite your kids and/or hubby to cook along side of you – make memories in the kitchen – test tasting, being creative, laughing and loving. Remember the importance of dinner time around the table as a family. Work on showing love to your family this week.
The Giveaway:
A Kitchen Aid Mixer
Week 4 October 28 – Decorate! The holidays are almost upon us.  Ann Voskamp says “Creating is good theology.  In the beginning God created.”  Be creative as you make your home warm, cozy and inviting for the holidays.  Think about ways you can keep Christ in Christmas even in the way you decorate.  Give thanks to God for the home He has given you in which to create a haven for your family.
The Giveaway:
Potttery Barn Christmas Wall Art

So let’s begin – let’s begin by cleaning up clutter in our homes this week.   Fall is a great time to pick a closet or drawer or cabinet to clean out.  While we’re at it – let’s clean up some clutter in our spiritual lives.

Think about – what gets in the way of your peace spiritually?

Could it be that the noise of this world has crowded out the voice of the GREAT I AM?

Jesus said:

“I am the bread of life.” John 6:35
I am the light of the world.” John 8:12
I am the door.” John 10:9
I am the good shepherd.” John 10:11
I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11:25
I am the way, and the truth and the life.” John 14:6
“I am the vine.” John 15:5

Turn to the GREAT I AM this week – listen to his voice. Let him be your bread, your light, your door, your shepherd, your resurrection, your life, your truth and your vine.

Walk with the King,

Courtney

    6. I also can only reply: I love to do this but I am not a blogger. This is a wonderful idea and needed. I do live alone, my children are grown and my son is in the military. I will still do this regardless, especially the candle and I can send baked goods to our soldiers. For game night, I will play Bible trivia and of course my music. Thanks! Great contest.

      Linda

  2. I love that tip. I’m always trying to find new ways to remind myself to pray for certain things. I’ve been lighting a candle each day, since the rain began again in our neck of the woods so this is easy to do. I love the idea of this series!

  3. I would be embracing this challenge anyway, but the chance to win a new iPad mini is wonderful! I love gadgets! Thank you!

  4. So excited to do this Challenge again…..can’t wait to get your book. I ordered five of them…. I was going to give away as gifts but am thinking about finding four other women and doing a study together since I heard the study guide was one of the ebook give aways. This would definitely be out of my comfort zone……but I long to have close Christian women friends. I have too been encouraged by Janelle from Comfy in the Kitchen to open up my home:)

  5. I am so excited about joining in this challenge. I am always seeking ways to have more calm and peace in my life and hence in my house.

  6. Looking forward to the challenge!!! (And I must say, it is definitely going to be a challenge for me this year… I’m due with baby #2 on October 1st 🙂 )

  7. I’m so very excited about this challenge! I truly need this and am looking so forward to the application!! Thank you Courtney!

  8. I love the candle idea. I just have to burn it while Danny is at work. He is bother by strong scents. Maybe I should say what he considers strong. As long as it isn’t burning in the room where he is, I can do it. LOve candles.

    1. Peggy – We have the same problem at our home. I have found that scentless candles or the LED no-flame flickering candles work great. Create a relaxing mood, but with no annoying overpowering scents. Hope this works for you.

  9. I love this time of year! And I love your fall challenge each year! I’ve had my candle going ever since the first fall challenge!

  10. Courtney,
I am super excited about the release of your new book. My husband said he would get it for me since it was the only thing I really wanted for Christmas this year, so hopefully I get it earlier! This will be the first year I will participate in the “making your home a haven” challenge but I can’t wait. Things get pretty hectic around here sometimes but I am a strong believer that we as wives and mothers set the mood and tone of our homes everyday! I love the candle idea! Thank you for everything you do to serve The Lord, I love following your posts, and your smile is just infectious!!

  11. Love this Fall challenge. I don’t light a candle as my 90 year old mother in law lives with us and she frets that the open flame will burn our house down..lol so I use a Scentsy warmer instead. Still get a soft glow, a nice scent and it’s MUCH safer 😉

Gonna figure out how to use the image and link it back to your blog from mine as I’m new to the blogging world! Tee hee! As a member of the book launch team, I’ll be giving away a copy of Courtney’s book so please stop by !!
    http://www.kellyccrn.wordpress.com

  12. Love candles N i love the idea to light a candle in community to become one to god!!
But how u entry to get the mini iPad cuz i check in FB but i couldn’t figured out so let me know ok Thanks Courtney

  13. I love this so much :-). I’m totally in on the challenges. I am doing a small group on Joy right now. I can’t wait to finally read your book. You are an amazing woman of God. Let Him keep using you. You are a blessing. God Bless you.

  14. The pray of my heart is that my home will be a place where love abounds, a place of peace….a sanctuary…..Lord let your light shine in my heart and in my home…..

  15. I am super excited about trying this challenge. After numerous years and effort, I have finally been able to get my family established in worshiping God and going to church regularly. This challenge could not come at a better time. I am new to your website…I am really enjoying it and look forward to seeing what more it has to offer. Thank you for all your efforts and advice.

  16. I’m all in. You had me at accountability. Thank you SO much! I can’t wait to get your book in my hands and give away copies to women God tells me to!!! In His Love ~ Lisa

  17. I love what you are doing here! I’m excited to participate in these challenges, even if I don’t win! My husband was in a car accident last but in October when I was 6 months pregnant with our 4th child, I ended up on bed rest then we had a new baby…the list goes on so I have been praying for peace in our home for a long time and I love love love the ideas you posted! Thank you for all you do! I’m sharing on my FB page but I no longer blog.

  18. I love this challenge! Thank you for creating it. Wonderful ways to help male our homes a happier place to be. I would like to join. 🙂

  19. Sounds wonderful! I would like to join the Fall challenge. Your posts are always a blessing to me!!
    Thank you so much!
    Blessings to you,
    Tiffany

  20. This is my third year participating in this challenge. It seems each year I learn/gain something new 🙂 Thanks so much for putting this on and encouraging all of our in our walks!

  21. I would love to join your challenge, but Mondays are not a good day for me to do it, as my husband works night shift (and I keep to his schedule) and Mondays are his first day off. We sleep the entire day, usually. Would it be okay for me to try these a different day (one that works better with our schedule)?

  22. Thank you for these challenges! I’m looking forward to participating! May the Lord bless you for this ministry that you have to so many women!

  23. I definitely need this challenge. My house seems to stay tense. I am working to change that and any tips I can pick up along the way are much needed and appreciated!

  24. I always forget just how much my attitude effects my family’s. I definitely need to slow down. I’m totally in on this challenge!

  25. This is great! My husband and I work full time and have 3 kids. I’m always looking for those little touches to add to our home to bring that peace and security. I look forward to this!

  26. I am joining the challenge for the first time. This is coming at a perfect time. I have been spending the last couple weeks trying to deep clean and declutter my house room by room….searching for peace in my home. Thank you for your website and this challenge. 🙂

  27. Excited to join the challenge! Looking forward to getting your box from Amazon. Bought extras as gifts to share your dream. Hugs and blessings

  28. I would love to join the challenge! I put an orange candle in the candle and made a l8ttle black spider out if pi0e clean34s to put with it!

  29. I am excited to of found this site thanks to my cousin, Heather Inman. I have a feeling I will be spending some time here. I would love to be part of the challenge!!!!! But most of all I am looking forward to growing in Christ through the resources you offer!!!!!!

    Teena

  30. This is my second time joining the challenge. I’m so excited! Last year I had a 4 week old. This year, I will have another baby in less than 4 weeks from now. Blessings abound. An iPad mini would be nice for those late night feedings. 🙂

  31. Funny, I was shopping today and bought my candle in preparation for this year’s challenge then see your post this evening! Can’t wait!

  32. First timer and I would love to join the challenge. Just spent two years in the bed because of a back injury. Had surgery and am doing physical therapy and enjoying being able to move around. This sounds like a great idea and a lot of fun for the family too.

  33. I would like to join this challenge. Although my children are at college now I still realize the effect my outlook can have on them and my husband. Thanks for the help.

  34. Thank you for all your encouragement! Please count me in!! I look forward to the challenge. I think we all need to invest more in our homes ; )

  35. Thank you so much for this challenge! What an awesome way to start the week in addition to getting your book on Tuesday. Can’t wait for the Webcast on Thursday❤️

  36. I am so doing this challenge! It could not come at a better time! I can’t wait till my book comes in the mail, plus I love your sweater! 🙂

  37. I’m joining in! I have a candle all ready to go. I read your book, love your blog, support your ministry and am so excited that you are stepping out in faith to proclaim Jesus boldly. You inspire me so much! I want my home to reflect Christ and as I read your book I realized how much of an influence that God wants me to be in my family for Him. I ordered a hard copy of your book and it should come soon!!! I can’t thank you enough for all you do! You introduced me to Good Morning Girls which really transformed my spiritual life and walk with God. Thanks for all you do, Courtney!

  38. I would like to join the challenge please. I am a group leader of a GMG bible study group. I have really enjoyed it as I have been “leading” our little group for over a year now. I would now like to “branch out” and learn even more from your various groups.
If you don’t mind I need you all to pray for me. I am a former public school teacher of special needs chidlren. I resigned this job in 2008 to care for my husband who is currently houmebound with severe osteoarthritis. During this time we also adopted 4 wonderful children which gave us a total of 5 and made our home complete. When I resigned my teaching job I also began to homeschool our children. It has been such a blessing, and I thank the Lord for this opportunity. For the past few months, however I think running the household on my own has started to take a toll on my nerves. I panic when I have to leave home and that includes even going to church! I feel like if I get out in public people will talk about how horrible my clothes are, how fat I am, how poor my kids look, etc etc. I know that these thoughts are very extreme, but when I get dressed to go out I literally (sometimes) become crippled as though my muscles are wet noodles. I get so nervous that I just give up and stay home…which means..so do my children. Lord help me…please you all help me to pray that I will find a renewed and refreshed attitude. Love you all. Cindy

    1. Hi, Cindy,

May God’s peace that passes all understanding grip your heart to crowd out your fears and anxiety. Lord, renew and refresh Cindy’s attitude, bringing her peace as Your daughter to face the world with confidence. I pray that you would give her the opportunity for rest and relaxation as you renew her heart and life.

  39. I have an October birthday and I LOVE fall! This challenge sounds great! Please count me in. 🙂 I am a brand new homeschool mom to two little boys, and a step momma to two more boys! I am the only woman in a family of five guys (including my husband). You have been a great example to me as a mom, wife, homeschooler and Christian! Blessed to have found your blog.. Thanks for all your encouragement!! 🙂

  40. Oh how exciting! I am definitely in need of really being intentional about my home and making it a haven. What a great challenge! I want to be a part of it!

  41. Would love to join the challenge. It sounds like fun!! Not a blogger though but do have Facebook 😉
I enjoy reading your blog- several of your posts have really spoken to me.
    Rachel

  42. I’m going to try and do your challenge. My family is going thru a difficultly that has come to the surface recently and we want to fix it rather than leave it broken. The title of your book screamed to me “that is what I need” because right now, I don’t have it. A mini-ipad to stay connected to my family, would be very beneficial!

  43. I look forward to this challenge every year! Glad it’s starting soon, my home is in need of refreshing in all aspects!!! Off to buy my candle within the next few days to be ready!!! Thank you!!

  44. Hi from Bulgaria! I’m going to try the challange too, it’s so awesome:) Thanks for all this! It’s realy amazing how important is the support from the sisters in faith… Even if separeted by thousands miles!:)

  45. Hi Courtney!
I’ve been following your blog for a while now and am enjoying all the encouragement you give us in our walk with the King. Comparing to marriage challenges where I could join just by reading and hoping to remember those things at the time I will be married; this Fall challenge is the one I can join. I am seeing this challenge as a perfect way how to start to make my home a haven before having family and I guess I’ll bake some goodies and then invite some friends over for a game night. My candle is already going and it feels a little less stressful and more cozy already.
Thank you, Courtney, for showing us that there exist homes that are like haven in the midst of daily rush! 🙂

  46. This is exactly what my husband and I need right now. We have our calendars filled through November and it has made us very anxious. I am looking forward to participating in your challenge to help slow things down and keep our focus on God. Thanks Courtney!

  47. Dear Courtney,

I will join this fall challenge, it is the second time that I do this. The candle is already burning. This weekend I tried to buy your book but since I live in The Netherlands (Europe) I can only by this book with a creditcard (Visa etc.) which I do not have. So I am hoping that your book will be available also here in The Netherlands, and maybe translated? However, reading English is oke with me. I wish you a very nice day tomorrow as your book relaeses (is that Englisch ;)) and I really hope that in some way I can buy your book too. Thank you for all that you do, Yvonne

    1. Dear Courtney,

I am joining the challenge together with all of those lovely ladies around the globe!

My favorite is also ligting a candle (apple-cinnamon scented).

And as you probably already know: can’t wait to receive the book. I HOPE and PRAY it will arrive this week !!!!!

You are truely an amazing, awesome woman ! A true Daughter of the King.

      Blessings X

      Abby

    2. Hallo Yvonne,

Groetjes, Yvonne
Ps: appel/kaneel is ook mijn favoriete geur;)

Dichtbij Brussel.
          Groetjes terug.

  48. Excited to start your challenge for the first time! This time of year I usually have a candle lit in the kitchen, I love the idea of praying for peace for my family and home when I walk by. Thank you for sharing your ideas and God given gifts! I just shared your challenge on FB

  49. Love this Challenge been doing it since the first year so excited to join you again this year and am so excited to get my hands on the actual book had the privilege of being apart of the launch team so have read on PDF and now want actual book great read and ministered to my soul 🙂

  52. I really enjoyed last year’s Fall Challenge and I’m looking forward to this year’s challenge, too! I’m going to encourage all the ladies I know to take part in it, too. I know my husband and son could tell a difference last year! Maybe I’ll be able to keep it going for much longer this time! Thank you for taking the time to share these ideas with us! Blessings to you….

  55. I am sooo joining too! thanks so much for putting this together. I am new to your site/blog, so I guess I joined at a perfect time. I wish all challenges in life were filled with so many pleasurable activities 🙂

  56. This sounds like such a wonderful blessing and a challenge I want to embrace. I love the crisp change of season and what it ushers in with the colors and the aromas. We are fighting a huge spiritual battle with our home and those wonderful “fall experiences” are lost in the battle. This is perfect timing. Thank you for blessing us so abundantly.

    Karen G.

  57. I am loving the gmg bible study and women’s prayer journal. I am excited to start the fall challenge for the first time. I do not have Facebook but I do check email daily.
    Thank you,
    Wendy

  58. I would like to join the fall challenge as well. Your blog has been such an encouragement as I start this adventure of marriage and homemaking!!!

  59. I’m getting my candle ready and excited about making my home a haven! I’m probably older than most of you–I have a beautiful new great-grandbaby. My family comes around nearly every Sunday so I hope to still have a peaceful place they can come home to.

  60. Thank you for doing this challenge again this year! It is just what I need to take a deep breath and be intentional about cultivating an atmosphere of peace and welcome in my home.

  61. My 8 year daughter asked me last Thursday if I was going to d o that “thing” again this year. She enjoyed it as did I. Glad to be starting again.

  62. I am looking forward to joining this challenge. We have been very busy these last two months and intentionally slowing down and being calm is just what I need.

  63. I am joining the challenge! This will help me to encourage the women in my life to become the women God has called us to be…starting in our homes. 🙂

  64. Shared and entered in every way possible lol

I want to start this challenge again this year!!! Sign me up, I am already a subscriber 🙂

  65. I found your website from a pin on Pinterest. I am so excited to start the challenge. My family is entering a new phase in life and I love the idea of the candle reminding me to pray for them – and for the peace in our home.

  66. Hi Courtney! I’ve been a follower for…well, at least a year, because I participated in last year’s fall challenge! The candle (and music) were SO calming and just what I needed. Looking forward to joining this year’s challenge. Congratulations on the book!

  67. I am excited about joining this challenge. I have followed your blog for a long time, but never felt the need or desire to do the challenge. This year, I am looking forward to it. Thanks for all you do.

  68. Courtney,
I did the challenge last year and I’m looking forward to doing it this year.
    Thanks for all your encouragement.

  69. We are closing on our first home today. I would like to join the challenge and start home-ownership off on the right foot — praying for peace is a great place to start!

  70. I enjoy a good challenge!
I like being apart of something bigger than myself.
And I love when it positively impacts my family. I’m in.

  71. I want to join your challenge. This is my first year with your blog and I have enjoyed reading your blessings. I just turned 70 and have been so blessed.

  72. Courtney, My sister-in-law just introduced me to your website this summer and I am so glad she did. I have been doing the Proverbs 31 study and feel so refreshed and ready for each day. I am excited about this new challenge that you have given and I am looking forward to being a part of it!

  73. I’m looking forward to joining the Fall Challenge! I long to make my home a sanctuary and not just the place where we drop at the end of our busy days. Thank you for these wonderful reminders about what home should be.

  97. Congratulations on your book!!! I wanta get one soon – Id love to join in for the challenge and I just love your site!!! I always read up here first thing every morning… My quite time and sipping my coffee too!! ~ Blessings!!

  98. I just discovered this website and it was excitedly what I needed. I always wanted to be a stay at home mom and we were blessed this year for me to quick my job. My Husband and I always saw were bringing the 50’s back!
I am excited to join your challenge and to explore you website:)

  99. This is such a great way to welcome fall! Thanks! Looking forward to the fun challenges each week that encourages warmth, love, fun and family nurturing! 🙂

  100. I’m in! I thoroughly believe that I need to be intentional to make positive changes daily. And I think we’ll all be winners if we participate in these simple activities! 🙂

  101. I am so happy this is going on I love knowing that so many women are going to do the same thing I am. We all need peace. I am so in.

  102. I am up for the challenge. Like many women-I am also not on FB or Twitter! Just no extra time:-) Thanks so much for your ministry-I really appreciate all the encouragement you give us moms each week. Can’t wait to hear all your great ideas 🙂 Glad to glorify the Lord with everyone else here.

  103. I am so excited that this starts this week! I spent the weekend at a women’s conference that I had been looking forward to all year. Sadly, many of the speakers used their platform to insult women who choose to stay home. It was repeatedly emphasized that in order to be doing “ministry”, we have to be serving outside of our home for a significant amount of time. Not once were our husbands, our children or our homes considered a valuable ministry. I am looking forward to spending some time reading from women who share my passions. Even better….the book comes out this week! God’s timing rocks!!!!

  104. Looks like a great challenge! Late October is for setting out the Thanksgiving decorations. I don’t start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

  105. I am really looking forward to this challenge! Over this past summer our family has lost some of its peace, I’ve noticed us all drift away from our normal prayer life, and devotion time. I am thankful for your encouragement and can’t wait to start 🙂

  106. Courtney,

I enjoy your blog so much. I have my copy of your book ordered and am looking forward to reading it. I definitely want to take part in the Fall Challenge. Thank you so much for your ministry to women. It is so helpful.

  107. Thanks for doing this challenge again this year! I am going to light my candle today to begin…..
Congrats on the launch of your book! Can’t wait to read it!

  108. I would love to join the challenge! I am new to your blog. I just moved into a new house and just quit my job to be a full time wife and mom! Talk about perfect timing to start this challenge. It has been heavy on my heart and God has been showing me the need to create the most peaceful environment I can and to truly make my house a home. Thank you!!

  109. Hi Courtney!
I’m definitely joining this challenge! This is my first time doing a challenge and am so looking forward to it!

  110. Hi, Courtney! I am excited to join your challenge! This will be my first fall challenge. I did your advent challenge last year and so enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for the encouragement you offer to those of us who seek to serve God, our husbands, and our children. Although we’ve never met, I feel as though you are my accountability partner. I’ve learned so much from you and appreciate everything you do!

I can’t wait to dive into your book tomorrow! Praying God will continue to pour into you as you so willingly pour into others. 🙂

  111. It is good for us to focus on the ‘beauty’ of a well-ordered, and lovely home for ourselves, and our families. It is the sanctuary for them away from the chaos of the world outside our doors. Thanks for reminding us to be active in that pursuit….as well as, persuing our own inner beauty by depending daily on the One who is ‘Altogether Lovely’….

    1. Next week is the first official week of doing the challenges – but to prepare this week…clear out a cluttered area of your house – and clear out your spiritual clutter – go to the Great I AM and spend time in his word. 🙂
      Courtney

  112. Super excited and I am looking forward to the challenge. I have been following your blog and truly enjoy your inspiration!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Blessings to you and your family during the upcoming holidays!

  113. I’ll be joining the challenge ~ loved it last year! Can’t wait to read your book–would love to read it on the ipad mini :)!

  114. Good Morning Courtney,
I’m not a blogger, but am looking forward to this challenge , and I absolutely LOVE and appreciate the time you spend sharing with other Daughters of the KING!!

  115. Hi Courtney! I love what you have done for women! Thank you for sharing your gifts of wisdom with us. I would love to join this challenge.

  116. I am joining the challenge…..spent the day yesterday cleaning and decorating for fall. This morning I have been doing the same. I am going now to dig out my candle….. 🙂

  117. I’m lighting the candle!! I want to make my home a haven!! You were right…September was crazy with homeschooling and 4 birthdays in my house but now for some intentional haven making…

  118. so excited…myself and my whole family was blessed by last years….can’t wait for this:)…thank you and blessings to you and yours

  119. I love the candle challenge!
I will include your post in my post this morning, glad I have read your post before blogging this morning, lol

It is finally getting a little cooler in Oklahoma, so I started slowly decorating for fall! I love love love fall colors!

    Finding Hope

    Sandra

  120. I would love to be part of the challenge! I need to make my home a haven! With an autistic child, that will be a challenge in itself..but I am ready!

  121. Courtney,
I purchased the book ordered through Amazon – do I still qualify for the ebook bundle? I e-mailed the womenlivingwell@gmail address and haven’t gotten a response yet.
I can forward my confirmation if needed.
    Thanks!

  122. Every year when the Fall Challenge comes around, I say to myself that I should jump on board..but I never do. Well this year I am breaking that cycle, and I am saying out loud that, “I am on board for the challenge!” Whoo-hoo! Praying that being very intentional about making my home a place of peace and rest will be much more effective than just thinking about how it needs to be! Thanks Courtney!

  123. Courtney, I am not on Facebook or Twitter so these comments will have to suffice for my participation in the challenge. We must have been on the same thought waves because this weekend I cleared out one closet, reorganized the bookcase, and cleaned out the bathroom cabinets. Woo hoo! Also pulled out the autumn candles and am good to go for a candle each day. Love this Fall Challenge!!!

  124. I found this challenge, half way through, last year. I’m so happy I can be a part of it from the beginning this year. The past year has thrown us some challenges but when I use a candle in the kitchen, it keeps me focused, reminds me on the rough days to keep praying. Thank you for the idea!! Thank you for providing this challenge & all the great giveaways too!

  125. Hi Courtney!

I really enjoy all of your wisdom and encouragement. I also LOVE fall! What a fun challenge…I’m ready! 🙂

  126. Thank you so much for this challenge. It comes at a perfect time; God’s timing is always perfect isn’t it. I know it will make a difference in me and the difference will flow into our home. Thank you for your encouragement.

  127. With a 21 year old son who is a full time college student and a 17 (almost 18) year old son who is a senior in HS still living at home I know my time is growing very short to spend time together every day as a family. I am super excited about this challenge to make our home a haven for my guys and especially my husband. We have moved so far from the younger days of spending time reading books together and playing games. If I knew then what I know now I would have spent even more time doing fun and crazy things with by family as the boys were growing. So…count me in!!

  128. Hi Courtney! I am new to your website and blog and have asked my married daughter to participate in the Fall Challenge with me. This will be wonderful for me to focus on because I work at home doing legal transcription. But more than that, I have had four special people in my life recently diagnosed with various types of cancer. I feel like it is just all around me so my “concern level” is through the roof! Thank you for creating this challenge for all of us.

  129. God has placed this on my heart recently…about the tone or mood that I set in my home. It’s amazing how much influence we have over our home and our families. I am starting this challenge too! Thank you for your encouragement and your sweet spirit!

  130. Going to try the challenge again this year. I signed up last year, but didn’t make it past the week with the candle! 🙂

  131. I would love to join the challenge 🙂 Thanks for all of your daily encouragement and reminders to focus on Christ. Love to you!

  132. Good morning,
I am a new follower of a few months. This challenge is exactly what I need in my life right now! I am not a blogger but I love reading yours and others blogs. Thanks for the amazing challenge!
    God Bless

  133. I am joining this challenge. As a pastor’s wife, life can be busy & hectic, so it’s just as important to make sure our home is definitely a haven. While I tend to find a blessing in each season, Fall seems to be my favorite. I’m looking forward to seeing how God will continue to bless!

    1. Yesterday was easier than today – for both me & my candle. There were some significant personal challenges prevalent this morning as well as physical pain today – altho prayed throughout the day, it just was more difficult than yesterday. Plus, every time I saw, my candle was out – the wick had fallen or the wax pool snuffed it out – :/ However, I’ve been praying!

  134. I am looking forward to this challenge! With a one and a three year old and a full time job, my life feels so stressful and chaotic. Can’t wait to learn ways to slow down and just enjoy my home. Thank you!

  135. Hola!

I recently came across Good Morning Girls and have started on the latest online bible study. While going through GMG’s facebook, I noticed Women Living Well’s page and made note of the upcoming webcasts. I love to read so I purchased your book, received it last Friday and fully enjoying it!

I would love to accept the challenge! I’ve been on and off about my walk with God so I’m hoping that these first steps will help me. Plus, I’m a newlywed so I could use all the guidance as I can receive 🙂

    Gracias!

  136. I love this challenge. I followed your challenges last year and it serves as a great reminder to slow down and enjoy the family that the Lord has blessed us with.

I am so excited to read your book! I placed my order last week! I never did get the link for the other books but I am still excited to read your book. Keep doing what you do Courtney! The Lord is using you in a great way to touch thousands. You are a blessing in my life!

  137. Looking forward to this challenge! Hoping I can stay strong through the whole month! Also, I’m really looking forward to reading your book, Courtney!

  138. I have participated in year’s past, but I am especially looking forward to this challenge this year. Having just moved one month ago, our house still doesn’t feel like our ‘home’ and consequently, I’m not yet sure just how to make it a true, physical haven. Also, I personally feel like I need this reminder to be praying regularly, and working on my attitude right now. So, in short, count me in! 🙂

  139. Hi Courtney! I’m so excited about this! I don’t have a blog, but I have a facebook page! Can I enter into the challenge too? WhooHoo!

  140. Hi Courtney! I would love to participate in this challenge. I so agree that with the start of the school year that things just felt hectic and hurried. I look forward to doing this with. BTW…love the sweater you were wearing in the video. Thanks for sharing your love of God. You have truly helped me to reconnect with Christ. So grateful.
    Renee

  141. Just bought your book on kindle!!!!!!! So excited!! Thanks for all the inspiration of making our house a home and for pointing us always to God. Thank you. Jennifer Lesniak

  142. I would love to join the challenge. I have my candle going now =) I always do anyway. I love the idea of saying a prayer for the family when it catches my eye! So excited!!!

  143. Hi Courtney! I’d love to participate in the Fall Challenge! I’m new to your blog so I’m still learning how to follow along & participate. I really enjoyed the conference last week. Thanks for posting it on Friday – I couldn’t make it Thursday evening. A few items in this challenge might be a little difficult for me.
We’re in the middle of a kitchen remodel and I can’t wait to get back to baking bread & cookies, etc. just don’t know exactly when I’ll have my oven back! Wish me luck! Sue

  144. Thank you, Courtney – for being the vehicle for God’s perfect timing! I soooo need this, as September has had me rattled from day one, and full of anxiety! This challenge is just what I need to slow down, take a breath, and remember that I set the tone in my home. Sign me up, sister – I am all in! Have a blessed day!

  145. I really enjoy the Fall Challenge! I kept up with it last year, and I really had fun with it! Something so simple as lighting a candle in the home can create such a sweet ambiance, and we all love the scent! Hooray for Fall!

  146. I am joining the challenge and am very excited! I already have my candle lit and the house smells wonderful, prayers for peace being spoken 🙂

  147. Hi There ! I’m so excited about this challenge ! Please put me on your e-mail list ! Thank you so much ! 🙂

  148. Going to light my candle now! I love this series and especially last year it was so encouraging to me as I had just had a baby and believe me those little things sure helped brighten the days when I felt overwhelmed!

  149. I am in on this challenge! I needed a little gentle reproof this morning on this very topic. Thank you! I am so excited and cant wait!

  150. I am so excited about this challenge! It is exactly what I need right now! We are currently in the process of moving and decluttering and I already feel better. I would love to start burning candles again as well. I LOVE candles. I look forward to following along in the coming month.

  151. I am looking forward to participating in this challenge. I am a newbie, but I am always looking for ways to bring calm to my home and to put Christ at the center!!!~

  152. I was so excited when I seen it was time again for the “Make Your Home a Haven” challenge! I will definitely be joining in!
(since doing this challenge last year, I have really enjoyed lighting candles throughout the home)

  153. Hi Courtney! I’m relatively new to your blog and I don’t even remember how I stumbled across it but it has been such an inspiration! I am not new to being married but am only beginning to learn what God really wants a marriage to be so your words are a breath of fresh air in a world that tells me it’s not normal to put my husband and family before myself. I am excited about joining your challenge and look forward to seeing the changes in my home! God bless you!

  154. I am so happy, not only for the awesome giveaways/prizes but for you and the release of your book that will help countless women. and just for the support & motivation, we moms should do these things anyway but we let life get in the way sometimes, and these reminders help more than you know. Thank You.

  155. Hi Courtney!

I’m not a blogger, but I would love to join the fun with this fall challenge! Count me in! Can’t wait to receive a hard copy of your book this week!

    God bless!
    Emese from Jersey

  156. I am up for the challenge! This will be my first time, but I love the idea! I also love the opportunity to win the ipad mini! October is a big month for my husband and I. We met and married in October and his birthday is in October. I would love to give him one as a gift!

  157. I am new to all this — but I would love to join your challenge! My home certainly needs to turn into more of a haven…..

  158. Hi Courtney,
This couldn’t have come at a better time. My September has gone a bit like yours:) I look forward to spending the month of October meeting your challenges…candle already lit and prayed over.
I posted your challenge on my blog. I just hope I did it correctly.

  159. Deep breath! First, I bought your book and cannot wait to have it in my hands to begin reading. Second, I opened up my email this morning and began to read your fall challenge and proceeded to weep. The words in your email and video were clear to me that God wanted me to hear this. After an argument with my husband this morning and then this, I realize that I am overly tired and really need a change. I am going to faithfully take this challenge and prayerfully seek Him throughout. Though I do not follow you daily, I do love your words and wisdom you provide. You have an impact on my life and I am thankful that I stumbled across your blog! Keep on walking with the king and influencing others to do the same! Much much love to you and your calling! 🙂

  160. Excited to join this challenge! This will be my first time! Thank you for offering this! I love to read and retread your posts! Excited for the book too.

  161. I am joining the fall challenge! I love it already! Although I love summer because of the heat, Fall is my favorite time of the year to decorate! I love the smells, colors and feel of it. I am blown away every day at the beauty that God has created for us. I struggle a bit with negative self-talk, getting too defensive because I feel not good enough all the time and I have been working on this. Although I can’t afford to buy the book, I am loving getting your emails and you are helping me daily! Thanks for all you do!

  162. I have my “Fig” candle burning brightly right now! A different scent from last fall’s challenge. Thank you so much…and many thanks to your publisher for all the fun give-aways!

  163. Very excited to follow your tips to bring peace and harmony into my family. Much needed in today’s environment. Can’t wait to get your book!

  164. Courtney,
After how my day went yesterday, and how badly my attitude effected my husband during what was supposed to be a ‘fun’ day, I see I need this challenge badly. I have been privileged to be apart of your launch team. I have learned a ton while reading and blogging through the different topics in your book. I really do struggle with my attitude, life is stressful. So thank you.

  165. I’m joining in for the Fall Challenge. I just had B&N put your book on hold for me and am excited about reading it! Woohooo for fall. In Texas, we actually had a cold snap and got down in the 70s.

  166. Joining the challenge. Just got a twitter account so I can earn those other entries in the drawings also. But really looking forward to following the challenge.

  167. May God bless you this week as you celebrate and fully enjoy all the hard work you have put into your book. I am joining the weekly challenge and am excited to do it again this year!

  168. I’m so excited to do this challenge! We are a foster family and it seems as tho we are always busy. I’m sure that has a lot to do with having a 14 & 11 yr old also. We just don’t have a lot of down time so these challenges, I believe, will bring some peace back in to the business. Thank you do much for your heart for women!!

  169. This was such a blessing to hear about! I’m an army wife and homeschooling mom of 5. I’ve really been feeling a lack of peace in my home. I thrilled to follow along and thank you for ministering to our hearts!

  170. Excited about starting this challenge! It is a great way to add to the Living and Active Challenge I am doing with Peak313. I love fall but in Louisiana we do not get much of it. My house is covered in fall decor and I will be lighting my pumpkin candle to start off the week! Thanks for organizing this and reminding us just how important we are in our home.

  171. This is my very first time doing one of your challenges and I am super excited to see what the Lord has in store for me and my husband through this!!

  172. I LOVE that you are doing this again! I found your blog about this time last year and did the challenge. My kids still talk about peace in our house when I light a big candle. 🙂 It is such a blessing to be on your launch team for your new book! You are a wonderful light in this world!!
    Blessings to You!

  173. ok Courtney I am ready for a haven. Since public school has began my kids fight. Fight to get up, fight on who is wearing what. fight about who going to sit next to Noah (my youngest). It seems there is all this tension and it’s making me manic and depressed. So I lite my new Apples and Cinnamon candle and I said a quick prayer flare for God to make this a peaceful home. I am ready like yesterday ready…..

  174. I am going to Join your challenge this year!! Thanks for the extra special encouragement that you give to ladies all over the world may your family be blessed for it:
    Shelly-Ann

  175. I did this challenge last year and thoroughly enjoyed it and I am doing it again this year! But I am hoping to keep this going all year long! Super excited and love your blog!! Thank you for sharing your heart and love of the Lord with all of us 🙂

  176. I’d like to join the challenge – I have tons of candles that I’ve been “saving”, must be for this very purpose 🙂

  177. I really need to make my home a haven. We are cluttered, but I am working on it. I can use this, too!

    Blessings!
    Carissa in eastern Iowa

  178. I’m so excited to join this challenge. I subscribed to your newsletters not too long ago and this will be my first challenge. Thank you for sharing your message, I am getting married on October 6th and this site has been a great inspiration and resource for me. 🙂

  179. I am excited to join the challenge for the first time…I love all the ideas and I’m sure it will be a blast with my family 🙂 Thank you

  180. I am so excited about joining in the challenge! I am always seeking ways to have more calm and peace in my life and in my home 🙂

  181. I love this idea for Fall! I agree-with your comments on stress and how it infects the environment. Yes, infects. I have been working on changing the atmosphere for months and it has been working!

  182. I love this………… it is what I have been doing for a long time now. I love that you have challenges for your readers and the spiritual attitude in which it is done. I will be sharing this with the ladies of my church! Thanks!!!

  183. Hi, Courtney! Thanks for this timely reminder. Perfect timing for me as September was beyond craziness in all of our 23 years of marriage. Our children are teen and young adults, and things keep speeding up instead of slowing down. I did light the candles already today (so I felt good about that:)); now remembering to pray for peace (above human understanding) is a beautiful sentiment! Thanks for this challenge, Courtney. God bless!

  184. I am so looking forward to taking part in this challenge. I have already lit a candle and I love your idea about praying for peace each time you look at the lit candle. Thank you for this challenge.

  185. Hi Courtney!!! I am so excited to start this challenge. I have 3 boys all involved in sports, I work part time and my husband of course full time. We need to slooooow down!! This is a must do for us!! Thanks so much for all your inspiration! Love u girl!

  186. I’m so excited to start this ! I often find myself frazzled & I see my kids being frazzled quickly too. I know they are learning from me, so I need to create more peace in my home for them & myself! Thanks

  187. I just ordered your book last night. I’m ready to join the challenge. I’m ready to make changes in myself to better my home.

  188. HI Courtney! I love this idea and I am excited to do this challenge and see my family grow together, slow down and enjoy each other. We just had our second baby and do not live near any family so things can get busy around here! Thank you for your encouragement!

  189. Thanks for doing this every year Courtney! I love lighting my candle but I love the reminder to pray for peace in my home every time I see it even more! Thanks for your inspiration 🙂

  190. I am so excited to start this challenge! I totally related to your description of the craziness in your house at the start of the school year! In my home, my husband and I both work full-time; I’m a teacher which means back to school for me too. We have four children and they are involved with many activities (dance, football, cheerleading and guitar to name a few). I am easily overwhelmed by the things that pile up. Thank you for your encouragement 🙂

  191. HI! I’m a newbie here and I love your site. You really help me (a SAHW and Mom of 3) to keep things in perspective. Thanks for that. I would love to join your challenge. Also I would like to know what you would suggest using instead of a candle. I get a headache from anything artificial that smells due to heat (like candles and the smelly things you plug into an outlet, etc..).

  192. I really enjoy following you on facebook and am so excited to join this fall challenge! What a great idea! My desire has always been to create a loving, peaceful, and joyful home for my husband and kids but it is so difficult when the crazy busyness of life tries to takes over. And the mood in our house could certainly be softened and calmed a bit. I’m looking forward to the slower pace of the coming season and this is the perfect transition. Thanks, Courtney, for all of your encouragement!

  228. Hi Courtney! I’m looking forward to the challenge! This will be my first fall with you and I’m so excited! **Snoopy Dance!**

  247. I love your website and blog!! I am taking this fall challenge. It’s funny, I was putting out my few Fall decorations (bc I am not gifted with decorating skills) and decided to light a candle. Then I read your fall challenge and had to smile! 🙂 This is just what I needed!

  248. As God called me to rebuild my household on His Word, He has been transforming me and my loved ones in ways only He can. I would love to be a part of this challenge, and would love to read your new book!

  249. I’m not a blogger myself but I would love to be part of this challenge–fall is one of the busiest times of the year for me and am always looking for ways to reduce stress. Just downloaded your book this morning and looking forward to starting it when I get home later today!

  250. I would love to be a part of this challenge! I don’t have a blog, twitter and never look at Facebook but hopefully I can still be a part of it.

  251. Good Morning Courtney,

This challenge comes at the perfect time for me! I’ve recently been laid off and need a reminder that my home and my family are the most important things at the end of the day. This will be a wonderful way for me to remember that I am blessed beyond my furthest imagination.

    Thank you,
    Caren

  252. I don’t have a blog (well, I do, but it’s for my Stampin’ Up! business & I’m horrible about updating it!) Anyway, I would like to take part in the challenge for this month! And thanks my friend Heather Anne for sharing this on Facebook so I could find your blog!

  253. Good Morning Courtney!

I am in! As a mom of three boys under the age of 5, I try and relay as much “calmness” as I can at home. I want this to be a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable atmosphere for the entire family. A place to grow closer to God!

  254. You are so right about us as moms controlling the atmosphere of the Home , although I do have a hard time at times remembering that . I am looking forward to joining you in this challenge.
You are such a inspiration , Thank you for all that you do .

  255. I love this challenge! I am joining again! A peaceful comforting home is so important. Yeah!! My book is coming in the mail today. I cannot wait!! Thank you Courtney, we love you!

  257. Courtney,

  258. I’ll be participating in the challenge, too! This is just what I need right now! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  259. I’d love to join the challenge! Also, I should be getting your book in the mail any day now! Thanks for your optimism!

  260. I’m in! Excited to make my home a haven for my husband. He works so hard and this is a way I can show love to him. Being intentional with this challenge will also help me in other areas of my life!

  261. I would really like to join the challenge! This is what I am blogging about this month for 31 days…so maybe it will help me keep on task! 😀

  262. Can’t wait to get the book. I have truly enjoyed your daily emails over the past few months. Thanks for all your encouragement!

  263. This is exactly what I need right now! I have a hubby that works nearly 80 hours a week, a 1st grade daughter that is bogged down with homework, soccer, and a church Christmas play, and a special needs son that I care for. On top of that I volunteer for the PTA, am a Bible study leader, teach Wednesday nights at my church, and also volunteer with the play. Within the last couple of weeks, I was diagnosed with a medical condition that is painful and scary. I have been in a place of panic and stress all the time lately, and desire so badly to get back to being a calm influence for my family.

  264. I would love to be a part of this challenge! I definitely have a few favorite fall candles that I could burn EVERY day so it’s nice to have extra motivation to do so!!

  265. I am excited about starting this challenge. We own two businesses, with two separate brick and mortar stores, my husband still works at his full time job, and we have four kids ages 15-5! The business of this home is creating tension you can cut through and I feel like all I’m doing is fussing at everyone to hurry up! Yuck, what a life! Thanks for doing this, I look forward to taking part in this with all of you.

  266. I am a newbie and so thrilled to have found you. This topic has been on my heart for awhile and I am glad to have found the spiritual component that was missing. Looking forward to this challenge. Thank you!

  267. Hey Courtney,

  269. Hi Courtney – I am eagerly awaiting my copy of your new book. I would love to join the challenge! I have subscribed to your blog but I don’t get email notifications, did I miss something when I joined months ago? I am blog illiterate. Be blessed! Brenda

  270. I am definitely joining this challenge!! We are a hectic family with an 11 year old girl and a 13 Month old boy who is a bundle of sweet energy!! I would love to create that calming sense of security for my family so I’m in. Thank you for your ministry and your daily encouragement! Blessings

  271. I am so excited! These are great challenges and great giveaways too. I don’t do all the social media though so I’m not sure if I can enter to win though ;0(!

  272. I am not a blogger, but wish to join the challenge!!! Thank you for this. Even though my kids are grown and I am now a grandma, I still feel rushed all the time!!! Working full-time (nights!!), keeping a home, doing errands and all the other hundreds of things that take my time, I feel there are not enough hours in a day. A calm home would help us so much. Again, thank you.

  273. so excited to take part in this challenge – i’m new to your blog & so appreciate your encouragement to wives…thank you for sharing your time…may God continue to bless your ministry
    xo

  274. I am a blogger, but I’m not a very good one to be honest. It’s going to take me a minute to figure out how to grab your image/link to posts, etc. I had a friend help me with it before. So…I’ll just join this way. Blessings….thanks for all you share and for being salt and light.

  275. Hi Courtney,
I want to be in the challenge, I am SO EXCITED to start this! Thanks for the thoughtful ideas and fun. Lots of Love to you Girl! Keep RUNNING forward carrying the blazing torch God has appointed you to race with! God bless you

    Nickey Martinez xo

  276. I do not blog; however, I will be following on FB ~ what was exciting to me this morning is that Monday, I bought 2 candles and have kept one in the kitchen and one in the den. I light them every morning and thru the day, my house smells so lovely. It made me smile this morning to see the 1st week challenge and to know I was in~tune before I even read the challenge. I had not thought of the idea to pray for my home every time I see the flame (which is a bunch thru the day) … That is such an Awesome idea ~ I will be doing this starting today. 318. Def up to the challenge. Life is crazy right now. I’ m in the process of decluttering my moms house and my own. We are going to be moving to Georgia hopefully and I have two houses to sell. My mom’s house is possible sold it is an older home and we are praying that the septic system inspection goes well without any problems. This is very challenging for my mom who is almost 82 yrs old and she cannot really do anything to help and its so hard for her cause she has lived in this house for 58 yrs with lots of memories and treasures. My mom is just not able to live by herself anymore. Please keep us in your prayers as we go thur this process. I ordered your book a few weeks back can’t wait to get it and read it. God Bless. Love your blog.

  325. I’m a blogger, but not a very consistent one *blush*. A Harvest Spice candle burns every night after supper on my stove. I catch a glimpse of it’s flicker as I clean up and load the dishwasher, run in and out of the kitchen getting bedtime snacks, packing lunches and backpacks, and right before I go to bed. It’s gentle flicker reminds me to pray for PEACE to enter and remain in my home. Such a great reminder. I love the Making My Home a Haven series.

Can’t wait to see you ladies again tonight on the WebCast!!!
Blessings on the rest of your day –
    Faye

  326. Looking forward to the challenge! I am new to the site, and don’t have facebook, but will check out the blogs and posts:) Thanks!

  327. First time EVER doing something like this. I definitely accept the challenge. I have perused your blog on and off for about a year and will subscribe today! Totally excited about the webcast tonight. Never done that one before either. Already plotting the kiddos smooth bedtime. Thanks for everything that you do and I look forward to either buying or downloading your book onto my kindle!

  328. I just found your site and think I have been led here as I have been praying and turning everything over to God. My life is upside down, and now I am in the process of trying to save my home. I have a wonderful job, and am very blessed with what I have. I think this site is wonderful and just what I need to offer encouragement and helping me keep my faith. I am at the end of my rope, and then, I found your site….. truely a blessing.
I want to join the challenge too! Sometimes, God works in mysterious ways!

  329. Can I still join? I light a candle every day already! :o) I love Yankee Candles!! Which is fortunate for me since I live in New England. :o) THANK YOU!

  330. Hi Courtney – You are truly an inspiration, I did the challenge last year but never signed up or posted. This year I will join officially 🙂 I am ordering your book this weekend also! Thank You for keeping yourself out in cyberspace to be an inspiration to many who never give you any feedback, I’m guessing there are thousands of us who read but never post. I’m not one of those anymore, LOL
    Lindsey

  331. I am excited to join this challenge. Right now I am a working mom with an almost 2 year old daughter but November 7th is my last day at work so that I can be a stay at home mom! I am so excited but life is really busy right now trying to get everything in order. I hope that with the encouragement of this challenge I can make my house a haven even in the midst of the craziness. 🙂 Thanks for allowing God to use you!

  332. A friend just sent me this website! The idea of a fall challenge is not only encouraging, but exactly what I need right now! I am guilty of letting the busyness of life be an excuse to be lazy at home because “I’m so tired!” I desire more than anything to have my home be a peaceful, joyful haven that my family and I can truly enjoy! God bless!

  333. I’m so in. I have a ton of candles from the pre-kid years and this seems like a great idea to help train intention-ality 🙂 Thanks!

  334. I stumbled across your blog site this evening. I would like to join the challenge. I do not feel like my home is a haven right now, in fact it is quite a mess. I would love for my home to allow me to escape the stress of day to day life instead of add to it. So this inspiration and challenge comes at the right time to help motive me to turn my home into a place of peace instead of a place of stress and embarrassment. Thank you and God bless!

  335. Count me IN for the challenge! Anxiously waiting for your book to arrive in my mailbox! I pre-ordered it several months ago!!! YIPIEE!!!!! 🙂

  336. I can’t wait for this to start and be apart of this amazing challenge! And I love the fact that it starts on my birthday 🙂 Thank you for the amazing blog and youtube videos you do. I enjoy both so much and get a lot out of them. Thank you Courtney. I appreciate everything you do for all of us. And I know its probably not the easiest thing in the world to do as I have seen the negative comments on youtube but I do have to say that I know that I have learned so much from you and I stared reading your blog about a year ago after seeing your youtube channel (by accident) and I just want you to know that my walk with the king 🙂 was started again because of you 🙂

  337. Hi Courtney. Thank you for the Challenge! This is my first time to join in. It sounds wonderful and helpful. God’s blessings to you and your family.

  338. I’d like to toss my name in for the challange.

Thanks for doing the Webcasts and this blog. Last night’s webcast really touched me. Keep up the good work.

  339. Hi Courtney, I bought two of your books, one for me and one for a friend. Can’t wait till it comes in the mail. I would like to join the challenge. Keep up the good work.

  340. Your blog encourages me. I’m happy for you to have a book and hope to read it sometime.
I would like to participate in the giveaway except I’m not on Facebook or Twitter—can I still be included? Blessings to you!

  341. Hi Courtney, I’m a newbie here, found my way to your site via an email from Grace Filled Moments. I would love to join the challenge.

  342. I am excited to be a part of this challenge. Thank you so much for not making it difficult! These are easy things we can do! This is going to be great!

  343. I am going to take the challenge. I can’t wait to get started! However, not on Facebook or Twitter, can I enter the giveaways any other way? Thanks for all you do. You have been such a blessing to me and my family. 🙂

  344. Courtney, I will join the Challenge again on my blog – fourth year in a row! Did you know that your fall challenge was the very first challenge I did on my blog and the first post I ever translated from you? LOVE the fall challenge!!!

    Hugs
    Katja

  345. I can’t wait for this challenge – it is the first time I’ve done something like this online and it is perfect for me and my family right now:) Thank you, can’t wait to get started!!

  346. So…the other day I lit a candle, then off to my computer to get some writing done. Suddenly I hear my son calling, “Emily, Rebekah, Mom lit a candle!”

He’s 22 – the girls are 24 and 26 – never thought it would cause such a stir.

Anyway, we’re lighting that candle every morning.

  347. Love being intentional about making our home a place of refuge for the whole family, but especially for my husband who works hard for us all 🙂 This goes along perfectly with my 31 Days challenge which is 31 days of challenges for loving our husbands intentionally 🙂 I’d love for you to check it out! (although I know you’re super busy! lol)

I got your book. I have a couple more that I have to finish before I can really dig into it, but I couldn’t resist a little sneak peek and am excited to read the rest. I also enjoyed your talk for the webcast talk last week although I don’t think I got around to commenting on it.

    http://www.servingjoyfully.com/2013/09/30/31-days-of-loving-my-husband-intentionally/

  348. Count me in! I would love to join the challenge! Also, my book is on its way and really enjoyed the webcast from last night! Thanks for all you do to inspire us women in our walk with God!

  349. I am so excited that you are doing this challenge again this yr.
I read it last year but didn’t really participate!
I’m going to try to meet the challenge this yr.
I work full time & often feel so inadequate in my home!
I also did my very 1st tweet for this challenge & the give away!
I’ve been on twitter for a few yrs but just never tweeted!

  350. I am ready for this challenge. Have my Fall candles all ready to go. First time doing this challenge and I am sooo excited.

  351. I have been so blessed by the webcasts the last two weeks! I’m new to WLW and I’ve been so challenged and encouraged in my walk with Jesus. Thank you! I would love to join this challenge!

  352. Would love to join! I always feel that like is so hectic and full of chaos. Could really use some peacefulness in the home!

  354. I’m excited about this challenge too! I need to get out tomorrow to get a nice big ‘fall’ scented candle 🙂

  355. Full calendar, panicky, nerves on end. You’ve described me to a T. I would love to take part in this challenge. Thank you for all you do.

  356. I’ll be joining in! I love that the tasks are so simple and should be done all the time, but somehow get left behind if I’m not intentional about them.

  357. Count me in! This is the perfect challenge for me right now as my family’s busiest months are October and November. So excited to start out my “busy” season with an extra dose of calm.

  358. I’ve been doing this each year since we got married! Joining in again this year and already have my candle lit:)

  359. I just got your book today. I cant wait to read it when i get the kids to bed. Count me in on the challenge. Thank you for taking the time you put into your blog I love it.

  360. I am joining the challenge and so are a few women from our wives groups! ! Whoo-whoo Cant wait to get started! Good luck to everyone who is sign up for all the amazing Giveaways! Thanks you Courtney and all the behind the scene people who helped pulled this off and all the wonderful contributors!

  361. I would love to join the challenge. We live in North Pole Alaska and we are franticly preparing for winter as strange as that sounds. we have gotten a few inches all ready but it did not stick. PTL but by this week we should have some snow action that will stay until next May. Love what you do for all of us woman who are striving to be Woman of God.

  362. Joining the Challenge! We just moved into a new home, and this will be a great way to help us get settled in 🙂 ! I read your blog regularly; can’t wait to read your book (it’ll arrive within the next few days!)!

  363. Courtney,
Your blog was the first one I came to when I began trying to refocus my home on Christian principles and rededicate to being a Christian mom and wife. I grew up in a “so-called Christian” home, where one version of home life was shown in public, and a very different version when no one was around to see. Abuse of varying kinds confused me, but God’s Word still rang true. I looked for women like you who were intentional to teach me and help me live out the right priorities. I think Making Your Home A Haven is my favorite annual thing you do. So glad it’s back. Lizzie (graceandgritforlivinglife.wordpress.com. )

  364. I would love to be a part of your giveaway. Thank you for the helpful, Christ centered, practical advice. This stay at home momma loves to read your blog : )

  365. Hi Courtney! The challenge is going great! I lit my candle whenever I was home this week. I don’t think I’ve ever said so may direct and targeted prayers in one week! My prayer life is more like an on-going conversation with God. Like an invisible person who is always present in my life wih whom I’ involved in a perpetual communication. I know there’s nothing wrong with that, and I do say formal prayers regularly, but it felt good to be on a sort of a “prayer mission” this past week. With a busy husband and two teen age boys, we can always use a little more of God’s peace in our home. They all must have felt it by the end of the week – both boys got up early Sunday morning to go to church with me! It’s been a while since that has happened. And the topic of the sermon was a well delivered message about relationships, abstinence, and being patient to allow God’s plan to work in our lives. We were recently having this conversation with the boys. It’s not easy to teach them these things in a world full of the opposite. The Deacon said it so much better than I was able to. I just LOVE how God works: throwing little miracles our way every day. It must bring Him great joy when we acknowledge Him as the source of these blessings. Thank you for your ministry and may God continue to bless you and your family.

  366. Loving this challenge – it comes at a much needed time in my personal lfe as I am struggling with my marriage and physical ailment. Thank you for helping me turn to God in this difficult situation.

  367. For some reason, I have to page all of the way through all of the comments in order to leave a comment – don’t remember having to do that before – FYI.
However, that’s fine – would love to be part of the process (and prizes!) this month. Candles are extremely relaxing, bring daily peace, and are fantastic reminders to be grateful to God and pray to Him.
Great way to involve women in creating a God-like environment, along with getting excited for fall!

  368. I’ve been burning my family’s candle since Thursday of last week. Already it has inspired me to pray blessing of peace over my home countless times each day. I’m looking forward to this challenge and to blessing my family as my friends and I go through the Proverbs 31 Woman Study. Have a beautiful day!

  369. I’m so excited to join this challenge. I love reading your blog. Your daily, morning emails help to brighten my perspective and give me the right fuel to go about my day. Fall is my favorite time of year and with your ideas I’m going to take the time to fully embrace it!!
    Love, Tracy

  370. Hi Courtney!

I saw this post and got out the candles. Good thing I was making fish for dinner and my family was so thrilled that I lite the candles. 🙂 Whew. Thanks for helping me out. Love this challenge 🙂 Hope to win a year supply of candles to keep loving my family well 🙂

Congratulations on your book release. God’s richest blessings to you on your adventure.
    Bonnie

  371. I am so Thankful that God has brought you to my life! I am loving the candle idea!!! I never thought about how my attitude effects my whole families attitude! It was very sobering to me. The candle challenge fits perfect with my Good Morning Girls study as well!! As I sit in my prayer chair in the mornings before anyone awakens and spend quite time with my Father, I don’t want to have to begin my day. The candle challenge not only reminds me to pray for peace for my family but it also reminds me that Jesus is the light of the world and through Him I am light to this dark world! Thank you!!!

  372. I think it’s hilarious that when I started lighting a candle this weekend, my husband responded with “Why would you do that? Those are expensive – we’re going to actually use the candles & have to buy more… can’t we just light it when we need it in the bathroom?” 🙂 But, I’m going to keep trying & see if he’ll buy into it. 🙂

  373. I would love to participate in the challenge! I am not a blogger at this time but do want to be a part of the challenge to pray peace over my home and make it a haven.

  374. I love candles, and saying a prayer for peace or reciting one of my favourite passages in Philippians is a wonderful idea. Thank you.

  375. Loving the candle Idea. Love the smells and the thought of praying over my home each time the glitter catches my eye. God is awesome. Thanks for the idea

  376. Hi Courtney,

I am enjoying your book very much and am so grateful you have brought back the “Making Your Home a Haven” challenge. I look forward to this each fall and actually continue this challenge throughout the year. I am implementing your prayer closet description from your book into my home! I love this idea. Love your blog, love the challenges, but most importantly thank you for assisting me on my spiritual walk!
Blessings to you and your family.

  377. Joining the challenge, and this week I will pray that I peacefully handle my little boys and their emotions each time I look at the candle flame!

    Thank you, Courtney! 🙂

  378. I love this challenge and your blog! You really inspire women to take a special place in their homes! I will light a candle in my living room where I spend lots of time reading throughout the day. I will be praying for peace to fill my home! Thanks!

  379. Hi Courtney,
I am new to your site, but already loving seeing the emails hitting my inbox. I love the candle tip and can’t wait to go home and light mine. Please include me in on the challenge. Fall is my favorite holiday and looking forward to the rest of the challenge. Thank you.

    Peace Onya!

  380. I am excited for this challenge! I haven’t burned a candle for a long time, but it will be fun picking out a scent & having an extra reminder to pray for my home & my family.

  381. I am so excited about doing the challenge! Our family needs for our home to be more welcoming. I have really struggled with being a good house keeper and I desperately want our home to be welcoming and peaceful for the kids and my husband as the are here during the day, coming home from school, and coming home from work. Thanks so much for the encouragement!

  382. I love the fall and it seems like the perfect time to burn candles in your home. I am burning mine on my coffee table so as soon as you walk in to our home, you see/smell it. Right now I am burning a vanilla one. I am hoping that as the children walk in the door from school, they will see and smell it and it will bring them peace.

  383. Lighting Candle Now! I live too far out of town to run out and buy a “new” candle for this “new challenge” so the supply on hand will have to do for today, however both the challenge and the prayer will be new and that’s what counts. I pray for each and every follower who is embarking on the same challenge as I am, wishing us patience and consistency in His word that we will prevail over the days demands. Be gentle and forgiving with yourselves ladies we are bound to remember at the last minute or even miss a day just remember, in Him we are made perfect.

  384. I am going to do the Fall Challenge! 🙂 I lit my candle this morning. A cranberry and orange scented one. Not only do I think to pray about my family when I see the glimmer of the flame, but all day as I have smelled the lovely sweet scent, it has also made me think of my family. Thank you for doing what you do! I am excited to see what the other challenges will do for me and my family. God Bless You!

  385. I am joining the challenge…lighting my hot maple toddy candle now….Yum. What a great idea to use the ‘glimmer’ as a prayer reminder! Thank you for your suggestion! I’d love to win!

  386. I love this. Such a practical, but powerful way to bless our family. Thanks for sharing – looking foward to each new challenge.

  387. Joining you in your challenge! Purchased your new book today and have downloaded to my Kindle app, can’t wait to start reading. Thank you!

  388. joining the challenge !!!! Alredy have my candle ready to burn tomorrow!! thank you Courtney for all the inspiration you are giving us by sharing your life with us!! So glad that I know you! (well, only through your blog, but even that I am a spanish speaker I fell you familiar 🙂 )

  389. Dear Courtney, thanks so much for your blog! It’s very encouraging and gives me new motivation for my every day life, thanks so much!!!! I also would very much like to join the challenge!!!! love from Germany, Sabine

  390. I just seen your challenge last night, so I’m jumping on the bandwagon a bit late. However still excited to implement this month with everyone else. Ready to see what God has in store. Thanks for all you do to encourage women to be better wives, mothers, and homemakers. 🙂

  391. I love burning candles all year long. I hadn’t really thought about how peaceful I feel with the candle burning at the end of the hall on a small table surrounded by a few angels underneath a beautiful cross that hangs on the wall. So now I will be reminded to pray for peace in my home and recall God’s words to mind. Thank you so much for this challenge! I am all in.

  392. My candle is lit! I’m in – again this year 🙂
Would like to be entered in the candle give away, please and thank you 🙂

  393. Is it too late to join in? This sounds like fun! 🙂 I tried logging in last week, but I was having computer troubles. 🙂 Found a really nice pumpkin candle, smells yummy! 🙂

  394. I stumbled upon you surfing Pinterest today. I was seeking ways in which to motivate more moms to volunteer at the christian school our children attend, knowing that we all juggle full schedules at all times, but I got sidetracked by quotes from other mothers motivating me to juggle my home and schedule more productively. Your sight speaks to the plight of so many mothers I communicate with and your challenges are so directed and poignant. I lit my candle and prayed each time I looked up from my laptop; and am not at all displeased that my work took considerably longer tonight.
I look forward to participating in your fall challenge and thank you for taking your time to help others. God Bless YOUR servant spirit.

  395. I have them glowing all over my home! Such a blessing. Thank you for being so “real” and relatable and reminding me daily the joys of being a Christian wife and mother.

  396. I would love to join this challenge. While I was in my kitchen yesterday every cubbard I opened something fell out at me, spices, tea, Tupperware, etc. I know it irritated my husband as well as myself. So I went through the kitchen cubbards, threw away things, washed and organized! Wow! What a difference opening them now. Not stressful anymore. I should have done that a couple months ago. Lol. Thanks for the challenge! I will go through the house this week and see what else needs done.

  397. This has been an amazing week in our home. My husband and I work opposite schedules so our children are cared for by us so we are always on the move. This week with many candles lit we have taken the time in passing to love on each other and love on our children together. This is only a season but when it passes we want make sure our children remember our love for each other, them, and Christ through it all. Thank you for your servants hearts

  398. I would love to join the challenge! I love your Good Morning Girls Bible Study! My friend and I are doing it together and have learned so much!
Thank you for sharing your heart with us!

  399. I’m in! I just turned 50, I have 2 kids in college, and 2 kids still at home. I’ve always wanted to be a great homemaker, but I’ve never been very good at it. Going to claim that it’s never too late and that God can restore the years the locusts have eaten. Thank you, Courtney!

  400. I would like to join as well…I do not have facebook or any other social media hookup, so hoping I can follow along on your blog. Thanks and looking forward to reading your new book. 🙂

  401. We’re homeschoolers too and things have just felt off for a few weeks. I think it’s the business of life in general. I recently bought a candle and we’ve been lighting it at the beginning of our school day. That plus music tends to just calm the kids and I down. I’ve been more intentional about not running around like crazy. It’s not worth it to rush. Thanks! Looking forward to this!

  402. Hi! I was excited to see this home and spiritual challenge and am excited to participate. The new book also sounds awesome cant wait to read it!

  403. I am really enjoying these challenges. I have been trying the respond in a whisper, really helps!
Can you tell me where you got that awesome tie dye shirt in the picture? I love it.

  404. I don’t know if this is where we are supposed to comment and post on how the first week went, but I really want to share. When I decided to complete this task I didn’t realize that God would show me how he can help me be strong and change my family within a week. It was last Saturday when my daughter and I were spending some girl time painting our nails and she asked me how do you nkow God if for real. I explained it to her but she was still not convinced and proceeded to tell me she does not believe in him. Knowing I couldn’t go crazy and say what are you thinking? I told her that is fine but make sure you do your homework; while saying this I was praying and asking God to help me. It was not even 24 hours and we found out that one of her friends was in a car accident and died. Obvisously my daughter was upset and didn’t understand why this happened…knowing that this could have been her but she got in trouble a few days before and was not allowed to go to the party. I got the bible out and we sat down for an hour and read it and I explained different things to her to help her understand. From that point on she has been reading her bible every night, asking questions, and just being a different person. THANK YOU

  405. Hi! I would love to join the Fall Challenge, I hope I’m not too late. I just discovered your blog a few days ago and already love it!

  406. A dear friend just shared your candle idea with me as I handcraft soy candles and she felt it very fitting! :0). I know I am a bit late but I would love to join the challenge. Since I am just catching this now I will focus on the challenges in November and hope to make it an ongoing thing in our home! Blessings, Diane

  407. I love the idea of the fall challenge. Joined your blog through the PA FB group. I look forward to getting the e-mails and creating a calm home for my family. Hopefully will win the planner to make that happen!

  408. The candle warmers simply release highly scented Fragrances within the wax, without creating fire risk associated with lighting a candle.
