Too Busy to Get Into God’s Word – 7 Tips for Busy Women

7 Tips for busy women

If you have followed my blog for long – you know that one of my favorite authors and theologians to both read and quote from is John Piper.  So imagine my surprise when I received an email from his ministry!!! {Bah!!!  Don’t tell them but I screeched,  jumped up and down and ran to my husband’s home office and said – “you won’t believe this!” Then I proceeded to email my parents and sisters and tell them and then I group facebooked my closest blogging friends and told them too!  Then I played it real cool in my emails back to them. lol!}

Honestly, being on the Rachael Ray Show was nice and all – but being featured on John Piper’s website at DesiringGod.org!!!!!!!  Well, there’s just not enough exclamation points for this!!!!!  This is far more exciting to me!

So please – come visit me there today where I am writing about 7 Ways for Busy Moms to Get In the Word. Then stick around and browse through their other posts. I can get lost in all the resources there – they are SO fabulous!

{Thank you DesiringGod.org for this opportunity!!!!  I pray that my readers who have not discovered your ministry –  love and learn and grow along side of you, as I have.}

Walk with the King!

  1. Awww he’s our pastor ( or used to be….he’s retired from preaching in the pulpit full time and now we have pastor Jason Meyer) but don’t feel intimidated! Pastor John is really sweet in person! Can’t wait to check out your post over there!

  2. How awesome! Also, I am totally inspired that your excitement is about being highlighted where God’s word is the most important thing and nowhere else. That makes my heart sing. Congratulations! I am on my way over now to check you out.

  3. What a blessing!! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to go read it. I know we mama’s could always use good tips into getting God’s word into us. thanks for sharing your amazing blessing sis! I am not surprised they picked you, you are such an inspiration to all!

  4. That’s so exciting! Congratulations! I love the Desiring God ministry. I often listen to sermons on their website while I’m getting ready for my day! I’m thrilled for you! 🙂

  5. For years I have walked every morning. My kids are grown now, and my daughter talked me int a smart phone. I found a Bible app, that I got mostly for reading, then found out I could listen to it too.
    Now I listen to 3-4 chapters every morning while I walk. Even though I’m getting a workout, Its relaxing, encouraging, and yes convicting .

  6. And you are featured on Tim Challies’ a la carte this morning! I read the article on Desiring God’s website yesterday and didn’t pay attention to who wrote it. It was fun to find out that it was you! Thank you for your ministry!

  7. So excited for you!! Congratulations!!

    There are so many things I love about your website and your blog. You are so fortunate to be able to stay home and be a mother, wife, and teacher.

    I work 40 hours a week (4-tens) in a prison, teaching young men (ages 18-21) reading and writing skills so they can pass their GED and hopefully not end up back in prison. At the end of the day I go home to 6 kids! The ages of children range from 16-11; which equals two 16 yo’s, two 15 yo’s, a 13 yo and an 11 yo; we have full custody of all 6 as their “other” parents live in a different state or come around once a month. So “busy” does not even begin to describe my life. Add all that to our church life, bible studies, leading Awanas and ministries we are leading, and you could definitely say I have very little time to get into the Word. I try to read at night but for some reason I always end up falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow to wake up at 4:10am! 🙂

    Praise God for my amazing husband who let’s me workout with my girlfriends for an hour after work and starts (and usually finishes) dinner!!

    THANK YOU for this article. I am constantly trying to find more time in my day to “fit” The Word. I try to read on my lunch break; but often eat at my desk. I try to do devotionals in the morning (Good Morning Girls) but I’m not as consistent as I’d like to be. The ideas you have posted here are definitely was that I can start to incorporate more into my daily life!!

    Thank you for your amazing ministry! You inspire more people than you will every imagine!!

    God Bless!

  8. What an honor, congratulations Courtney! I have heard of his ministry but I don’t think I’ve ever visited the page. I will now and look around!

    Blessings,

  9. This is one area of my life that I really struggle with. I have good intentions and then when I don’t follow through I experience guilt. I don’t want God to feel that I don’t love him, but I neglect to read the word on a daily basis. These were very practical tips that I truly feel I can do. Thanks!

  10. This is SO GOOD. A simple, practical reminder. I want to print this out and give it to everyone! I love the thought of focusing and meditating on one scripture for a week. I think this could be 7 tips for busy people! Everyone can benefit! Congratulations on such a wonderful article on the Desiring God site!
