Another resource I have just started using this year is Logos Bible Software.   Renee Swope (from Proverbs 31 Ministries ) and I had the opportunity to make a video together when we were in Dallas just a few weeks ago together. It’s all about Logos! Listen here:

Here are some testimonials about Logos:

“I’m stunned by its genius, thrilled that it’s easy to use. I don’t want anyone to neglect studying the Bible inductively—discovering truth for themselves—slowing down, meditating on the Word, falling more and more in love with God.”
Kay Arthur
Precept Ministries

“I use Logos virtually every single work day and, when I’m on the road, it goes right with me. That’s the beauty of it. I love it and depend on it constantly.”
Beth Moore
Living Proof Ministries

“It’s visual. It’s pictures, it’s maps. It’s like the Bible coming alive in front of you on your screen. . . I like books, but when you realize that this is all right here at your fingertips, it’s incredible.”
Liz Curtis Higgs
author and speaker

“It makes the study that I do so much easier, and so much more in-depth. . . Those study helps, particularly in the languages, are very helpful for me.”
Elyse Fitzpatrick
author and speaker

  1. I am SO excited about this journey through the Bible! I love this post and how you also linked all the applicable/corresponding blog posts as well. 🙂 Your heart for women and getting them into the Word of God is so encouraging!! I want to be just like you when I grow up (even though I’m only a couple years younger)-but really because you seek to be like Jesus, and He is our guide and example. <3

  2. Courtney,
Thank you so much. I have learned so much from you over the last 3 years and I just wanted you to know I really appreciate your ministry and commitment.
    Karen

  3. As always Courtney, your passion for God just shines! Thank you for sharing so much of yourself. LOVE the falling apart bible (shows its is much-loved and much-used) 🙂 I also have a pocket edition of my bible which I can put in my purse. It has come in handy many a day! Have a blessed day!

  4. Looking forward to Sunday and the new journey thru the Bible. Thank you for all that you do for us and the wonderful things you share about the Lord and life.

  5. I’ve used the Biblesoft PC Bible study software for years now and it has been a tremendous help when studying although I find I don’t need to use it as often as I did when I first got it because I also use a Greek/Hebrew study Bible and use cross references.

I shared this post with my Good Morning GLOW girls. Thanks so much for the videos and resources!! Looking forward to reading through the Bible with you

If anyone is still looking for a GMG group, I have room in my Facebook group. Search for GMG – GLOW or use the following link. https://www.facebook.com/groups/277094809151833/?ref=br_tf

  6. Hi Courtney,
I have a question which I hope you can address (sometime) regarding the S.O.A.P. method. I’m familira with it from past studies. However, when I get to the “P”, I usualy feel like my written prayer is more of a writing exercise. By that, I mean it feels so…formal?…as I jot it down. It’s kind of hard to put into words, but let me ask you…When you write down your prayer, is it AFTER you’ve expressed it in your heart, in your thoughts, on your lips to God? Do you write it down first, and then read it back, out loud? Do you simply note something after the fact, like, “I prayed and discussed [x] with God.”??? Would love some insight, and I’m really looking forward to the new study. I intend to read out loud to my children as I participate, so that they, too, can get through the bible in whatever time it takes all of us. Keep ministering * joyfully* for the Lord, Courtney, and I am praying for restoration and healing.
    blessings,
    Toni

    1. Hi Toni – this is such a good question. I am one who has journaled prayers for years and years so it feels natural but for some it might feel “formal” as you said.

Your question reminds me of this Edith Shaeffer quote:

“God has communicated to us in writing. His Word, the Bible….so writing our pleas, our praises, our prayers — this is not a one-sided communication. God will hear, and He will answer…It’s a relaxed and protected comforting communication with one’s Father, Shepherd, Friend, Counselor and mighty God. He is personal – and therefore we can speak and write to Him in a personal and intimate communication.”

Just remember that God speaks and communicates to us through the writing/reading of His word – so as we write our prayers – it can be like a letter – speaking to Him.

      Great question!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

    2. Toni ~ when I am using the S.O.A.P method there are days that I write out a quick prayer but most days I pray orally rather written and just make a note that I prayed orally.

I have an older mentor that is teaching myself and a two other women to write and pray Scripture prayers and sometimes it seems like I’m just reading the prayers rather than praying them BUT as I’ve been praying this way for over a year, I’ve become more familiar with the word of God and am able to have specific Scriptures be recalled to mind when circumstances or requests come to me and I remind myself that I am praying the WORD OF GOD – The GOD inspired Word that does not return to void.

That was definitely more than what you were looking for but all that to say I understand how you are feeling. 😉

  7. I have ADD when it comes to Bible Study. I get easily distracted. Then if I’m using my computer to aid in my studies, I’ll get sucked into Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Sigh……like, right now, I’m watching the Golden Girls when I should be catching up on the bible study I’m currently doing :/

  8. Courtney, you’re awesome! Just thought I would throw that out there since I’m commenting here for the first time in the 3 years I have been following you! I went to the Logos website because I definitely want to get the program you, Beth Moore and Kay Arthur are saying is so great. I have been searching for a way to get the Greek/Hebrew words broken down for me, so I can take the text deeper. Which program are all referring to? I saw several and I want to make sure I’m getting the right one. Thank you! You’re awesome! 🙂

  9. Courtney, well done!
I have just registered for the training. I am so excited about all of this because I have never been this way before. I have never belonged to a group and I don’t even know what this webinar training is. Forgive my non-techy sense but I hope it is okay to be opened in this forum.
Kudos to you and your team.

  10. Thank you for sharing the various tools you use for Bible study. You mentioned hi-liters bleeding through the pages of your Bible. Lifeway & Rainbow Christian bookstores have some that don’t (any Christian bookstore probably has them). Great that you shared about using the colored pencils. I find myself using them in the Bible study guides/books/etc. as well. Photo album idea is awesome especially for kids (they could even draw a picture to go w/ their verses.) A tip I use when learning a new verse is to write it on my mirrors with dry-erase markers or Crayola window crayons. I also painted a piece of cardboard w/ white paint which I framed & write my verse on the glass (this hangs in my kitchen). I need to see the verse OFTEN to get it in my head. Looking forward to the Logos webinar. I’ve heard of their software but am not familiar w/ how to use it. Wonderful that you & Renee are taking the time to introduce it to us. Blessings to you & your team.
