If the Battle Belongs to the Lord – How Do We Fight?

In the book of Joshua, we read that God says that the battle belongs to the Lord. So then, how do we fight? Here are 10 things to remember in battle. #Biblestudy #Joshua #WomensBibleStudy #GoodMorningGirls

We all have private battles we are facing.

In Joshua 6-10, we see God helped Israel have victory. He caused the walls of Jericho to fall down and stopped the sun in the sky, so Israel could fight all night long and win!

We know through the reading of scripture that God goes before us in all of our battles.  He fights for us.

Are you wearing yourself out trying to battle your battles on your own?

God’s battle plan looks nothing like man’s.  His ways are higher than ours.  God has given us spiritual armor to fight. But if the battle belongs to the Lord – then how DO we fight? Join me on today’s video as I answer this question:

Here’s 10 Verses to Remember in the Midst of Your Battle

1.) Be in God’s Word

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
(Joshua 1:8)

2.)  Have courage.  God is with you.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
(Joshua 1:9)

3.)  The Lord is on your side!

For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.
(Deuteronomy 20:4)

4.) Do not give way to fear.

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
(Deuteronomy 31:6)

5.)  You are not alone. His presence is with you.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
(Psalm 46:1)

6.)  Be still.  Rest in God.

Be still, and know that I am God.
(Psalm 46:10)

7.)  Let God be your strength.

Fear not, for I am with you;  be not dismayed, for I am your God;  I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10)

8.) You are blessed when you remain steadfast.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
(James 1:12)

9.)  Stand up to the devil’s schemes.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
(Ephesians 6:11)

10.) You are an overcomer because your God is greater!

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
(1 John 4:4)

I hope that you will not just skim these verses but that you will read them, meditate on them and perhaps even memorize them.

It is God’s Word that will strengthen you, stabilize you, fill you with faith and give you courage in the midst of your battles.

Keep walking with the King,

Courtney

God is telling me for weeks now to wait, to be still and know that He is the Lord, to trust Him that He will take care of everything and that I must wait for Him. And God has showed me that He is taking care of the situation I am in right now. Thank you so much. God bless you.????????

  4. Courtney, I love the 10 verses “to Remember in the Midst of Your Battle.” I am making copies and sharing them with my Women’s Bible Study group! I am going to work on memorizing them and I want to share them when I respond to prayer requests that I receive at church. Such wonderful verses!!!

  5. Thank you so much for this encouraging reminder. It is so easy to get caught up in our trials and schedules. We all need that reminder to put our trust in Him. Thank you for your bible studies! They are a blessing.

  6. Wow did I need to hear this today. Thank you Courtney for inspiring me.
Your book has made a big impact on my life. Thank you for all you do!

  7. Thank you for the video and encouragement!
My BFG (Bible Fellowship Group)on Sunday mornings have been discussing doing battle with our enemy and battling through circumstances.
We’re reminded before we go full gusto into a battle, we need to bring our matter before the court of God, and wait for Him to hand over the verdict; for Him to give us our orders for sure victory. Each battle may not require or withstand the same plan of attack each time!
So thankful that being in God’s word was your first step in the battle plan and then being able to do whatever He tells us to do!
    Blessings!!!

  8. I’m in the battle for my 15 year old son. He was adopted at birth, but came to us with some birth issues. He’s a bit delayed but overall mostly normal. He now wants to claim he doesn’t believe in God and this is a fight I’m praying and seeking God to win! This message came just at the right time, and your delivery of it just motivated and encouraged me to fight, morally, physically and most of all spiritually. Please pray with me for my boy, His name is Jesse.

    1. Just read this post. Prayers for Jesse going up! Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God! Love him and tell him Jesus loves him no matter what!

  9. Courtney:

Thank you so much! I have been under several ongoing battles from all directions. All I can do is fall to my knees and rely on God and when I’m stronger in spirit, mind and strength I just stand my ground because I know that I have to overcome because God has fought for me already! It is tough when life or everything you are “goes left” or takes a turn for what appears to be the worst when you are trying to go of course in an entirely different direction *tears*& disappointment can be so difficult to cope with, ugh! All I can do is fall to my knees and pray “the blood of Jesus cover Me so that I can continue to fight” he will help me in his time!
Thanks for reminding me to fight even at my weakest moments, thanks for the message!
God blessings to you as well!

  10. I listened to your words of encouragement for the FIRST TIME TODAY! How embarrassing! We share the same home church! I have for too long struggled with insurmountable odds against life itself along with the issues of my own wayward children lost to drugs and an anti-Christ movement. My situation has for quite some time looked dire indeed and I have struggled everyday to remember that God has promised to be my rock and to never leave me. Thank you for your words of encouragement and support in this daily battle with Satan who is determined to steal my peace and my trust in my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. His persistence in that battle, I will honestly admit, wears me down, and, at times, gets dreadfully close to His goal at stealing my peace bought with the precious blood of Christ my Saviour. I promise to God Himself to continue my fight and I commend you for your dedication to helping me and others like me who so often find ourselves standing on the precipice between Heaven and the pit of everlasting fire. May God continue to uplift you in your commitment to being that one step needed in “keeping up the good fight.”. Thank you for being the “booster shot” I’ve needed for quite some time now and the same in the lives of the many other Christians who have found the path so rocky that even ONE MORE STEP seemed more than we were capable of making! To God be the glory, and to you, my dear Christian friend a token of thanks for your commitment to being that human go-between who can often mean the difference between the choice of eternal life or death for Christians at the end of their rope in the day-to-day struggle of keeping up “the good fight”. Jesus Christ did all the work, my friend, but you fill that role of reminding us that the battle has already been won!

  11. I just want to say thank you for this website. I have been a believer for a long time but got “stuck” in a rut. Your study has inspired me to get back into the word of God. I’m picking up with Joshua but plan on going back and getting caught up. I enjoy your videos. Thanks

  12. Thank you sister in Christ. I have been praying for my next instructions in my journey of victory with the Lord! This morning walking to college I was tempted to being troubled in spirit, but I felt inspired as I walked through the city that I was walking in Christ and with Christ, not alone. I was picturing how He would walk, always at peace and relaxed, always full of inner strength, a lion, a King. I was really thinking, I am walking with the King, something I never thought in those words. Then tonight I found your website for the first time and found exactly that quote! So it’s safe to say I found the direction I was praying for. Praise the great God who is doing exceedingly, abundantly more than we are asking for or imagining! God bless your work and Spirit filled website. X

  13. Dear Courtney,

I found your lesson today, Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 4:15pm. When I tell you it was RIGHT on time, I don’t think that I could have gone another minute without soaking it all in. I bless our God for your faithfulness and obedience in sharing this timeless word online. Even though my spouse of 33 years have been in a hard battle concerning our health being restored, financial difficulty and regaining our life back; we are endeavoring to fight for our marriage, well-being and our finances to be restored and renewed.

Even as I am commenting to your post, my heart is heavy with the labor of it all. I still have enough strength and faith to utter the words, “Lord, I trust you.” In 2012 my beloved spouse had a massive stroke of which he is still recovering and in 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our finances drained and I worked two part-time jobs to try to support us.

With that I still have to maintain our home, become his caregiver, pray and rely upon God for my health. Take care of the daily going on of household stewardship. I pray everyday for release, refreshing and rejuvenation and most importantly a miracle for a spiritual BREAKTHROUGH!

    1. Psalm 34:19
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

      Jeremiah 30:17
17 For I will restore health to you,
and your wounds I will heal,
      declares the Lord,
because they have called you an outcast:
‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’

  14. Psalm 34:19
19″ Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

    Jeremiah 30:17
17 “For I will restore health to you,
and your wounds I will heal,
    declares the Lord,
because they have called you an outcast:
‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’
    SHALOM ????????️????????

  15. The Lord certainly is our refuge and fortress, our help in times of trouble, having called out to him when in fear , he is so faithfully and hears our cry’s, he gave me psalm 91 which immediately spoke to my spirit and delivered me. His words are true, he is always watching over us, My Lord,
    my saviour, my deliverer.

  16. Even five years later, your words are so true and helpful. I’m glad I stumbled across your blog! Today, in the year 2021, we are fighting for our rights in ways we’ve never seen before. We’re fighting for medical freedom to make our own decisions about our bodies. When you wrote this blog, it was the furthest thing from anyone’s mind that we’d be fighting for God to save our country from extreme liberal tyrants, but we are. And God is going to battle for us. But we can fight for ourselves too by writing or calling our elected officials, engaging in peaceful protests and the like. I’ve been fighting this battle on my knees. I feel the Holy Spirit so strongly now. God never loses so that means we, as His children, always win!

  17. Years after you posted the video, a guy gets to watch it as it’s the first that pops up on google. And, as I go through a battle fighting for my wife of 5 years who has given her heart to another man who is a strong unbeliever, the Lord gave me Exodus 14:14 from two different people. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.” Thank you for your message sister. It was very well received even years after you posted it. I needed it so much as we also have a two and a half year old son who needs his family restored if God sees it in His mercy to do so. Buckets of blessings!

  18. I just found this today and it was so exactly on time for me. Trusting God to do what only He can do in my life and the lives of my loved ones. Thankful that no matter what happens in my circumstances, I am learning to trust God more deeply than ever before.

  19. Well I don’t know where I was in 2016 when this was published, but today July 8, 2023, I really needed this guidance and encouragement in the midst of a serious battle, to keep believing, and keep walking and marching forward with the King, and the reminders of God’s word.
    Thank you.
