The Problem With OMG {Exodus 20}

The Problem with OMG

It’s everywhere – the term “OMG”. It’s in magazines, movies, on television, Facebook,  Twitter, blogs…yes, Christian ones, at Christian conferences…on the platform {gasp!} and it even sneaked into our house on a shirt my daughter received as a Christmas gift. Alexis wore this shirt (pictured above) to a church activity and when she returned home her brother looked right at her shirt and said, “Whoa!  Why are you letting her wear that?” I did not even notice the words “OMG Cake!” were on that flag.  So my husband took a black sharpie marker and turned the O into a “heart” and the […]

It’s time to begin Week 4 in Exodus! If you are still with us – way to go!  You are being so disciplined!  Michael Hyatt says, “4 out of 10 people quit their New Year’s Resolutions before February!” It’s hard to press through busy schedules…but you are still here and going strong and just look what God is teaching us! This study has been wonderful! If you are in a GMG group – do not stop checking in with your group.  They want to hear from you – even if you weren’t able to read that day’s reading – chime […]

Trusting God in the Midst of a Trial {Exodus 14}

Trusting God in the midst of a trial {Exodus 14}

  Are you in the midst of a trial? Or do you feel like you’ve gone from trial to trial to trial?  Then this video is for you: {if you are reading this in email or feed, come on over to the blog to see the video and join the discussion!} In Exodus 14, the infamous story of Moses parting the Red Sea is told.  As the story unfolds, we see the mighty power of our God.  I  mean seriously – the Red Sea literally rolled back and the ground was dry for the Israelites! Some skeptics have said that the […]

6 Attributes of a Leader

6 Attributes of a leader

This past weekend, I sat down with my 2015, 2016 and 2017 calendar and mapped out the Good Morning Girls Bible Reading Plan for the next 3 years.  My eyes were opened. Blogging Through the Bible is a BIG commitment.  I will be doing this for a VERY long time. And I LOVE it – it is my honor and joy to serve in this way. So as I set the pace for the ministry God has given me to lead, I reflected on what it is going to take, to accomplish my goals. Here is what I believe are […]

Good Morning Girls Resources {Exodus 11-15}

GMG Resources Exodus 11-15

It’s time to begin Week 3 in Exodus!  Hooray! This is when the going gets tough and the tough get going. It’s always exciting at the start of a new year to begin a fresh Bible study.  With excitement we open God’s Word and He speaks and it is so very good.  But  then real life and busy schedules can begin to crowd out the excitement we once had.  This is when discipline and not giving up – even if you are behind – begins. If you are in a GMG group – do not stop checking in with your […]

5 Characteristics of Our Mighty God {Exodus 7-10}

Bright Colorful Sunrise On The Sea With Beautiful Clouds

The question I want to answer today is, “What do we learn about the character of God in Exodus 7-10?” This is a question we can ask ourselves everyday after we read the Bible. Often times we quickly jump to the application process, but there is so much to be learned about the character of God as we study the Word. Don’t miss this! For those using the Exodus eWorkbook, you are familiar with the SOAK method of Bible Study.  But for those not familiar, the word  SOAK is an acronym:: S – The S stands for Scripture O – […]

2 of My Ministry Flops & Why You Should Keep Leading

2 of my ministry flops

I am about to share 2 of my flops in ministry. I have many more but for brevity sake – I chose these two to focus on. Flop #1   Good Morning Girls began in my home church in 2007.  I was leading a Women’s Bible Study and felt like I needed accountability so I started a 6am club.  11 women signed up.  Every morning we emailed each other at 6am for 3 months…but it was unrealistic for this group of moms who were nursing babies and waking with toddlers. So we renamed our group the “Good Morning Girls” (and […]

Be Brave. {Exodus 1 & 2}

Suspension bridge and mountain in Nepal

When we think of the beginning of the story of Moses, we typically think of a baby in a basket floating on the Nile. But as we begin our reading through Exodus, we see 5 women – in the midst of a crisis, courageously standing against the violence of the culture surrounding them.  God used these seemingly insignificant women to protect and nurture the man that God would use to deliver his people. These women put a hand in the face of injustice and evil and said – No. Let’s take a look at these brave women from Exodus 1 […]

How To Use the SOAK Bible Study Method and Bible Coloring Chart

How to use the Bible Coloring Chart 2

Some of you asked that I further explain the SOAK and Bible Coloring Chart Method.  Please remember, these methods are optional.  They are tools that help us soak God’s word into our hearts more deeply. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”   (Colossians 3:16) This short video explains it all! {If you are reading this in an email – come on over to the blog to see this video. I hope it blesses you!} Here is the SOAK method I refer to in the video: S – The S stands for Scripture O – The O stands […]
