Happy 4th of July & WLWW Link-Up Party!

The 4th of July Party preparations are in full swing here at our house!

My 4th of July wreathe is up!

The annual making of the Dirt Cake is done ā€“ Lexi chopped all the oreos for me ā€“ the kitchen is a mess but itā€™s done šŸ™‚ .

The slip and slide is ready!

Ā

In the morning, Iā€™ll be spray painting a twister board like this forĀ all the cousins (and maybe some adults too!)Ā to play a HUGE game of twister on.

Ā

Soon Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents will stream through the door! And the fun will begin.Ā  The night will end with viewing fireworks that display over a local lake from our backyard!Ā  LOVE that!Ā

If it rains and itā€™s cancelled ā€“ thatā€™s okay ā€“ we already saw fireworks this past Saturday at a Carnival ā€“ hereā€™s a few pics from the carnival:

Ā

Happy 4th of July!Ā Ā  God Bless the U.S.A.

  • Oh it seems like it will be a blast tomorrow for you! We are far from family so I am feeling blessed that we have found a few friends to spend the holiday with and at the beach no less! Thanks so much for the link up, it is such a great idea! Iā€™ve already stopped by a few listed and you are right, there are many great bloggers that link up! Iā€™m looking forward to reading and connecting with other fellow christian bloggers! Happy 4th! <3

  • Hi Courtney!

My name is Emily, Iā€™m 16, and I just came to the Lord last summer It was an amazing experience! After months, if not years, of being wishy-washy and not really sure if religion was right for me, and thinking and talking to friends about faith and readingā€¦Just as I was sticking my toes into the waters, Jesus pushed me in and said ā€œI got you now! Itā€™s gonna be okay, because I love you and I made you and I will always love you and Iā€™m so glad you came back to me!ā€

Fast forward to last week, when I ran across one of your videos and fell in love with your enthusiasm and spirit. I found wlw tonight, and found the proverbs 31 videos. Iā€™m only 16, and at first thought ā€œWhat am I doing here? This is aimed towards women at least fifteen years older than meā€¦people my parentsā€™ age!ā€

But Iā€™m beginning to realize that even though Iā€™m still in high school I CAN be that Proverbs 31 woman and I need to be. I honestly think these videos and this train of thought that Iā€™ve been working through is God knocking on my door and saying ā€œHey! You know how youā€™ve been failing tests, and anxious all the time, and panicked you wonā€™t have a future? This is how weā€™re gonna fix it.ā€ Iā€™ve struggled a lot with guilt, anxiety and sadness for the last 9-12 months, and I think of this verse is a hope, a goal, and a light at the end of the tunnel. (Donā€™t worry, those feelings have been among some happy times too!)

I just finished all of it posted so far, and Iā€™m crying because I realize what Angela said is trueā€“this woman has confidence and hope for a bright future (things I both lack) not because of whether sheā€™s a sinner or a saint, but because God loves her for who she is. That really, really speaks to me.

So thank you both SO much for these videos and for indirectly leading me to see all of this. If you have any other ideas of how I can apply Proverbs 31 or any of Godā€™s wisdom to my life as a teen Iā€™d love to hear it. Sorry Iā€™ve rambled so much. Hope you and your family had a great 4th!

    God bless!

    ~Emily

  • So happy to link up again today. Thanks so much for hosting. As a 1st-time mama, Iā€™m really excited to share my baby girlā€™s birth story today.

    • Yes ā€“ she did knock them out ā€“ the top picture and the dirt cake picture are both from last year ā€“ Iā€™ll take new ones tonight šŸ™‚ You might be able to see in the carnival pics that she is missing one tooth still and one came in šŸ™‚

  • Courtney, I love the wreath on your front door. What is it made out of? Flowers? Can you post a close-up of the wreath? Hapy 4th of July everyone! God bless this wonderful country we have been blessed to live in.

    • I donā€™t have a close up picture but itā€™s made of shiny tinsel ā€“ I got it at Pacatanā€™s ā€“ I love how it looks like a firework ā€“ all shiny when the sun is on it šŸ™‚

  • Thank you for being obedient to our Father. Lives are changed when we respond to His calling. I was talking with my husband about your testimonyā€¦ or what I know of itā€¦ and I am encouraged to pursue Godā€™s best and not settle for less. Have a great 4th.
