Welcome back to Week 2 in the Book of Leviticus.

You did it!

You completed week 1 and it wasn’t that hard right?

Remember, the title “Leviticus” means, matters of the Levites.  The Tribe of Levi (also known as Levites) were the priestly tribe of Israel.

Leviticus is God’s instructions to the priests on how to assist Israel in worship and living a holy life.

Just a reminder, we will see ceremonial and civil laws that are not meant for us to practice in our lives so we must be very careful with our applications of this book.  The key points we should take away from each chapter is the seriousness of our sin, the need for blood to cover over our sin, and the need for atonement.

All of the sacrificial elements of Leviticus point to the death of Jesus on the cross.  When Jesus died he declared, “It is finished.”  He was the final sacrifice.

This week we will look at

Chapter 6: The Guilt, Burnt, Grain and Sin Offerings

Chapter 7: The Guilt & Fellowship Offerings

Chapter 8: The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons

Chapter 9: The Priests Begin Their Ministry

Chapter 10: The Death of Nadab and Abihu

  1. I am surprisingly being very blessed by reading Leviticus. Perhaps this is bad to say, but I did not expect that.

I know that “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness s; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” But, I just was not sure how that was going to manifest itself in reading Leviticus.

Well, let me tell you that it has really jump started me in getting serious about truly consecrating my life to be used by God to do His work in ministering to others and to be serious about holiness and purity and understanding the seriousness of our “little” sins as well as the big ones.

    1 Peter 1:14–19
as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

  2. I was really dreading Leviticus after reading the warnings about this being the hardest book of the bible. But l went ahead with an open mind and I am finding it’s not that bad, maybe because this is my first time reading the buble I dont have as much to compare to. I am so thankful I found you Courntey and joined your Bible study group, thank you so much for your daily inspiration!!

  3. This spoke volumes to me this morning….
Leviticus 6:13 “A fire shall always be burning on the altar, it shall never go out.” The Holy Spirit is our fire; Jesus our sacrifice for sin. He will never go out, never give up and never not ever be there for us!
In this chapter it talks about touching the sacrifice and that if you touch the blood of it or if it gets on the garment that you must be holy and wash your self in a holy place. (verses 18, 27, 28) the song that kept coming to mind was “Are You Washed In the Blood of the Lamb”.
I know I am. It was so encouraging to read this morning as my spirit within was low and my eyes weren’t as heavenly focused as they should be. Family struggles with my dad and his wife and his decision to change his religion and many other things that link to that were weighing heavy on me this morning. But that verse about the fire never going out. Wow, It is WITHING ME!!! It will never die!!! I need to stand firm. Hold fast to my faith.
Hold fast to Christ ladies. That Holy Fire lives within if you are His child. He has cleansed us with His blood and washed us white as snow!!! Hallelujah. Amen

  4. I am new to starting my walk with the lord. I attended church this last weekend for the first time since I was 13 (Now 32). I found this website after starting to read one of your books. This will be my first week of following a plan for bible study. Thank you for all of the great information.

  5. I’m jumping in the study a week late, but God’s perfect timing is evident. I’ve spent the week reading to catch up and I’m in awe of the relevance of God’s word, even Leviticus to our lives today. We just moved into our home 2 months ago and are in the process of setting up a homestead with livestock. As we are preparing and considering all the ramifications of these selections, God’s precepts of sacrifices are coming alive in a new way I had never understood in my prior suburban culture. The ramifications to the individual and community in regards to sacrificing a male verses female animal are HUGE! God’s character is revealed in new ways. His Word is living and active!! I have dutifully read Leviticus before, and studied it’s concepts, we’ve practiced many of the feasts with our children to experience God’s interactive gospel message, but I am thrilled to embark on this journey again and see how His Word reaches new place of my heart as we enter a new season and experiences as a family.
