Welcome back to Week 2 in the Book of Numbers!

I have heard from many of you (out on Instagram and Facebook) that you are learning SO much.  Isn’t it exciting to see how relevant the Old Testament is to our lives!  It just thrills me that you are loving this as much as I am!  What an awesome community we have here!

Now this week is not an easy read.  Try not to get too bogged down in the details and push through because at the end of this week – it gets really exciting.  The Israelites are done being organized by God and the cloud will lift and the Israelites will gather their things and begin their march towards the Promised Land and so much is going to happen along the way that teaches us about God and ourselves as we read Numbers 11-36.

If you are new here – jump in with our reading this week and catch up on the weekends.  All are welcome to join anytime – there are no enrollments or sign-ups!

Here is this week’s Bible Reading Plan:
Nov2

This week we will look at:

Chapter 6: A Separated and Blessed People

Chapter 7: A Generous People
{Be forewarned this is the longest chapter of the Torah or the first 5 Books of the Bible written by Moses}

Chapter 8:  The Dedication of the Levites

Chapter 9:  The Celebration of the Passover

Chapter 10:  The Cloud Lifts & the People of Israel Set Out At the Lord’s Command!
{SO exciting!}

Here are this week’s Group Discussion Questions

The Verses of the Day:

I encourage you to choose which verse you’d like to memorize or meditate on.  The printable below includes all 5 verses of the day — for the entire week!

Print and cut them out and put them in the bathroom, kitchen, beside your bed and computer and use them for meditation throughout the week.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8

  1. I love love this study!! Courtney and ladies please pray for peace of mind during my finals. I am very worried about my grades….I know God had my heart . Just alittle worried….

    1. Good Evening Regina,

I’m saying a prayer for you now. Study hard, give all your worries to God and rest well tonight. You can do this!!!

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  2. I’m new! I just started last week with Numbers and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been a Bible reader for years, but I was flipping through and reading randomly, and I like this way of studying so much- being purposeful and digging into the Bible. I’ve been highlighting using the color chart and it really slows me down and makes me thing about what I just read instead of losing information by reading quickly. Courtney, I really enjoyed Fridays post, I learned even more from it, and I hope it is something you do each week! I also am enjoying the Doodling Through the Bible coloring pages. My kids (and I!) have been coloring and the coloring really helps to cement what I read in the days chapter. I do not have facebook or Instagram or twitter, but just know that I am studying with you guys at home and praying that everyone is able to find the time to study and that everyone is being blessed from what they are reading!

    1. Welcome Jennifer!!

I’m so glad you are here and enjoyed week 1! Yay! And you have discovered what the coloring method is all about – simply a tool to slow us down and help us to think it through and meditate on God’s Word!

Great job getting your kids into God’s Word too!!! That’s wonderful!!

      Keep going!
      Courtney

  3. Our message today at church was about the Bible. Pastor put quite a few challenges to us about having a hunger for the word, digging deep in the Bible. When he asked “when was the last time you memorized a Bible verse?” I thought of our on line Bible study. I went to him afterward and told him about you and this study and how much I have grown since getting into Numbers. My two boys are young adults, so I have a lot of time on my hands and purposed to spend it with God. Just really love this structure you make available. God Bless.

    1. Valerie,

You have a great pastor! I’m so glad he is encouraging everyone to get into God’s word for themselves and to know and memorize it.

It’s great to hear you are enjoying Numbers!

Keep going and God bless you too!
      Courtney

  4. Good morning girls!

Jumped in this morning for the first time with Good Morning Girls and am already blessed. 🙂 Reading, reflecting, praying, and journaling in the peaceful quiet of a shiny new day and thinking of others out there who are reading along with me…..beautiful!

Lord, may my life, my walk, my words, my thoughts, my breath, and my faith be an OFFERING to you. Soaking it in and ready to shine his light today. Thank you, Courtney, for this gift of study and community!

    Kristen

  5. The blessings that have already been given to me is His Grace. Every single day I am thankful for His Grace. And after reading chp 6, I am even more thankful we no longer live under the Law but it’s by Grace we have been saved …..
So I am Thankful and blessed

  6. I’ve always avoided reading Numbers. It’s exciting to find out how interesting it is! Thank you for encouraging us to read it, Courtney!

    1. Sylvia,

God’s Word is alive and active. I’m so glad that together God is helping us to understand and enjoy His Word!

Keep going and glad you are here,
      Courtney

  7. Numbers 6:24-26 is amazing to me! After meditating on the discussion question and journaling about my blessings, I feel refreshed and recharged! The Lord is so good and I am so blessed! Thank you for helping me keep that in my mind Courtney!

    -Ashley

    1. Ashley,

I’m so glad to hear this! God’s Word is truly refreshing – it is living water poured over our parched souls.

      Have a great new week!
      Courtney

  8. I’ve been following along since the beginning in 2014 when you were part of the other group. Studying this way has helped make so many things clearer as I journal and read through the Bible with you. It has kept me on track and reading every day. So many things I did not know about the Old Testament as I’ve usually been more a part of the New Testament over the years. Reading the Old Testament more in depth has made the New Testament make so much sense and where we are now with Jesus Christ as my savior. I’m even learning to journal in my Bible as a way to clarify.

    1. Peabea,

I’m so glad to hear how much you are enjoying the Old Testament. I know that it can be harder at times to understand but like you said – it makes the New Testament come even more alive! God’s Word is active and relevant and just so good!

      Keep studying!
      Courtney

  9. MEDITATION FOR TODAY IN NUMBERS 6
S – “ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’ “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
O – God instructed the priests to bless His people. In Christ, our High Priest, we have the ultimate blessing of redemption and freedom that brings grace and peace. The Amplified Bible says of “Blessed”: spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired; forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace; inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect; joyful, nourished by God’s goodness; content, sheltered by God’s promises; anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature; spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor; comforted by inner peace and God’s love; morally courageous and spiritually alive with life-joy in God’s goodness. (Matt. 5) We walk in His name with His Spirit dwelling within.
A – In Christ, I am HIS. I can walk in grace and peace in His name. What a Blessing!!!
K – Heavenly FATHER, thank You for Your blessing of love and grace in Jesus. Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit as a seal of all that is promised in Your name. Help me to share Your blessing with others – Your eternal “Yes.” In Jesus name. Amen.

Discussion: Blessings from God – Life (physical & spiritual), His presence in grace & peace through Christ, health, family, work, friends, abilities, home, a land of freedom & plenty, and on, and on, and on I could go. Wonderful LORD, Thank YOU!

    1. Charlsie,

Thank you so much for sharing your SOAK here!! I love reading your reflections and how God is working in your life and what He is teaching you – beautiful!!!

      Thank you again!
      Courtney

  10. Courtney, THANK YOU!!!!! I started this bible study last week as I poured over the pages of Women Living Well. Your book and this study have already given me the tools and confidence to CHANGE MY LIFE!!! I’m striving now to see God in everything I do and say and am overcome with the joy and feelings of peace. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Ecc 4:9

    1. Robin,

This is so exciting to read – thank you so much for sharing this here and encouraging me! God is so good – keep walking with the King!

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  11. I’m just taking a minute to thank you. I walked away from God in my teens and am now finding my way home to Him as a mother in my thirties. Following allow with your bible study and reading the thoughts and prayers of others has been a major encouragement to me.

    1. Mary,

I’m so glad to hear you have found your way back home and that we get to share this journey together. Thank you for the encouragement tonight. 🙂

      Keep walking with the King!
      Courtney

  12. I am enjoying this study. The discussions on FB and your posts really provide additional insights. I am prayerful that when the forums open again in 2016 I’ll be able to connect with others more closely as I am doing this study alone. I only just learned about the SOAK method when I joined the Numbers study. I am thankful to God that my prayer throughout September and October was to better learn how to study the bible and I came upon your site. I do have a question regarding the high lightening. I printed out your color guide and purchased the New Inductive Study Bible, and am a little overwhelmed on how to really highlight and note my bible. I watched your video; however couldn’t really make out the pictures when you held up examples and the picture on the site doesn’t provide a close up. Would there be any chance you might be making another video or sharing pictures that are more close up? I only ask because I am a visual learner and often seeing what others have done helps me to learn. Thanks again for setting up this website and study.

    1. Hi Nascent,

I post closer up pics of my Bible out on Instagram here: http://www.instagram.com/womenlivingwell

I am not able to do it everyday because of time constraints but I hope that the ones I do post are helpful.

Remember – there’s no right or wrong way to do this – it’s just a great tool to help us slow down and really meditate on the passage and soak it in.

So glad you are here with us,
      Courtney

  13. Hi Cortney, I just want to let you know that I’m so glad I found you and your website through a friend of mine, I look forward to your emails, and I enjoy studying the books of the bible and feeling that support and knowing that I’m not alone. It’s been a long time sense I read the old testament. I even had my kids help me color the chapters, as I was reading. My 5 year old got his bible out and wanted to color his bible as well. Can you recommend a bible for a 5 year old? I tolled him that I will buy him his own gel coloring crayons when he starts reading his own bible all by himself, right now we read to him. I hope by watching me read my bible and studding, my kids will want to do that too when they grow up, but I would like to inspire them early on. Hope to hear from you and thank you for being obedient to God, you encourage me!

  14. Just found you all and got my Numbers journal in the mail yesterday. What a fun and inspiring way to dive into the Bible! I am so excited to study with you all before we start each home school day here at the Clark house. My eldest daughter has been eyeing my hi-liters so I bet by the middle of next week I’ll have her curled up next to me on the couch with her own Bible!

    1. Welcome Marcy!!

I’m so glad you found us here and are joining in! My daughter LOVES my hi-liters too. It’s a great way to help our children soak in God’s Word!!

      Enjoy,
      Courtney

  15. Thank you for your ministry. May God continue to bless you for your willingness to follow Him in ministering to His people. “The Lord bless you and keep you;
    the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6:24-26‬ ‭

I hope your healing & restoration is going well.
