Welcome back to Week 3 in the Book of 1 Samuel!

I’m so glad you are back!  If you missed week 1’s wrap up – it is here and if you missed week 2’s wrap up – it is here.

If you are new here – jump in with our reading this week and catch up on the weekends.  All are welcome to join anytime – there are no enrollments or sign-ups!

Here is this week’s Bible Reading Plan:

Here are this week’s Reflection & Discussion Questions

{If you do not have a group, use these for a personal time of reflection.}:

Chapter 11

Though Israel was scared, they feared disobeying God more than they feared their enemies.

Who do you tend to fear more, God or man? Why?

Chapter 12

Samuel reminded Israel to serve God faithfully because God had done great things for them.

What great things has God done for you and how does that motivate you to serve God more?

Chapter 13

Saul had a heart that reflected Israel’s heart rather than God’s. A man after God’s own heart, honors God above all.

God is still looking for men and women who honor him first. How is your heart today?

Chapter 14

Jonathan knew the odds were against him but he believed with the help of God, he could have victory.

The only thing that hinders God is unbelief. Have you made God too small in your life? In what area do you need to trust God more?

Chapter 15

Saul’s sacrifices meant little because he had a disobedient heart.

Have you ever been tempted to give money or serve God rather than obey Him? How is this type of relationship with God empty?

The Verses of the Day:

I encourage you to choose which verse you’d like to memorize or meditate on.  The printable below includes all 5 verses of the day — for the entire week!  Print and cut them out and put them in the bathroom, kitchen, beside your bed and computer and use them for meditation throughout the week.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8

  1. Hello I am new to this but the desire has been placed that I need to SOAK up! Does it matter where I start? Or can I just start with 1 Samuel 11-15?

  2. Hello!
I have a question about your past study of Ecclesiates. Is this something, even at this point that the study is over online, that can be used in a small group setting for a women’s Bible study—-utilizing the book, your online resources, videos? I am slowly making my way through it one on one with a friend when we are able to meet and I love it. I was just wondering about a larger group being able to make this into a wkly study—-what are your suggestions, if you have a moment to answer?
    Thank you!

    1. Dear S-

Yes yes yes! All of the resources for the Ecclesiastes study are left available here on-line for this reason. There are discussion questions for your group and weekly videos. That would be wonderful!

      Love,
      Courtney 🙂

      1. Thank you so much! We are going to be using it in our small group next month! I am so excited. I don’t know you other than your website, but I just love you and what God is doing through you, your other ladies who help, the studies of God’s Word, those who follow your site. I have prayed for you, your family, and this ministry.

  3. Hello,

I am new to the Bible and to your blog. However, I am eager and ready to learn the word of God. Do you recommend me reading Samuel with you guys or should I start somewhere else since I have never read the Bible before. What are your suggestions if you would be so kind to share. Thank you 🙂

    Yvette

    1. Hi Yvette,

I recommend that you jump in with us – because it’s always more fun to do with a group. 4. Hello Courtney!
Thank you so much for the work you do! I really hope that all the workbooks stay available on Amazon! My daughter and I use these together as a daily Bible study. We are slowly catching up and while we have missed many books we really love the pretty covers and prefer to use them with our studies and we hope to get through them all. Thank you again!
    Jen

    1. Hi Jen –

I’m so glad you like the journals! I have no plans, at this time, to remove the journals from Amazon – so they are there for you when you need them.

I’m so glad you and your daughter are joining us!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney
