Introducing the GMG Leader’s Manual and a Change at GMG

Would you like to lead a Good Morning Girls Bible study? Learn how to become a Good Morning Girls leader with this fabulous manual. #GoodMorningGirls #leadership #WomensBibleStudy #Biblestudy

The year of 2017 was a year of change both in my personal life and this on-line ministry.  One of the biggest changes at Good Morning Girls was the loss of Mandy Kelly, our GMG Leadership Coordinator.  The Lord took her home to heaven suddenly in March of 2017.

It was hard to move on without Mandy, while also grieving the other changes in my life.  And so through the Lord’s prompting, I have decided to discontinue the GMG Leaders Facebook Group.

I have also decided to run GMG on my own without a team. Our team has been filled with love and unity and has been an amazing support system to me.  So this change is only because I feel the Lord leading me to return to my blogging roots – where it was just me, God and my computer.

I have been so blessed to not only call Rosilind, Bridget and Misty my team but also my friends.  This was a hard decision for me to make but as I return to the blogging sphere, I need to downsize to keep my head above water.  Rosilind will continue to help me with the International Team and a few other behind the scenes tasks.

So if you are looking to lead a GMG Group all you need is the GMG Leader’s Manual.

This manual is available exclusively on Amazon for the lowest price possible at just $7.99 in paperback and  $4.99 on Kindle.

It includes everything you need to start your own group including:

  • How to set up a Good Morning Girls Group.
  • What to do once your group is set up.
  • Tips to help your GMG Group thrive.
  • How to Encourage Participation.
  • How to fostering an atmosphere of community.
  • The importance of prayer.
  • A sample welcome letter
  • 9 ways to get more out of your Bible Study.
  • Answers to frequently asked questions.
  • Icebreaker Questions
  • What to do if your GMG Group is struggling.

If God has laid on your heart the desire to start a group, I encourage you to step out on faith and go for it!

GMG began in my home church, at a local Bible Study, in 2007 – before I ever began blogging.  This is the first GMG Group that ever existed:

OH how I love these women! God knit our hearts together so tightly during this season of life.  Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that thousands of groups would one day follow in our footsteps!

At the time, we were a group that emailed each other daily.  Now my group uses Voxer – it’s a messaging app for your smartphone with live voice (like a walkie talkie), text, and photo sharing.  The app is perfect for our group of moms who are on the go.  We don’t just share about our quiet times but we also share prayer requests and keep each other accountable with our health and diet goals as well.

Over the years my group has changed as seasons of life have changed and women in the group have come and gone.  This Christmas my group got together to do a “Favorite Things” gift exchange.  Here’s my group now:

If you don’t have a group yet, I encourage you to start one.  Accountability works in reaching our goals – the encouragement of others keeps us going on days when we’d rather quit.  Good Morning Girls will provide the accountability you need to soak in God’s word daily, grow in your walk with God and live well!

CHIME IN: For those of you who currently have groups or had one in the past  – I’d love for you to share about your group.  What is your group like, how do you connect and how has God used your group in your life?

LEADERS WITH AN OPEN GROUP: Do you have an open group?  Please share a link to your facebook group or an email address where women can contact you to join your group.  This is how we will be doing regrouping in the future.  It will all happen in the comment section here on the blog.

NEW LEADERS:  Is this your first time to lead?  Invite your church friends, neighborhood friends, family, or co-workers to join you.  If you do not have anyone to ask and you would like to lead an open group with ladies from the GMG Online Community — then order your manual now.  Then about a week before we begin, I will ask again for leaders with open groups to leave their links or email addresses in the comment section.  At that time, you can leave your info in the comments and your group will form.

Are you looking for a group? If you don’t have a group and would like to find one for the new year, read the comments below or watch for future groups to open in future comment sections.

Thank you to those of you who have led groups in the past or are considering leading in 2018.

I am praying for you.

We serve a worthy Savior.

Walk with the King,

Courtney

  1. Thanks, Courtney, for all you do! I’m so excited to start 2018 in the book of Romans!!

I’ve been a leader with GMG for a year and have made some wonderful friendships! I am a homeschooling mama to my three little men, wife to my hubby for 18years and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My active group is an amazing group of women from all over the country (and a few out of the country). I have learned so much from this wonderful group of ladies who are always there to pray for one another, encourage and hold each other accountable. One thing I’ve learned with being a leader is I’m really here to serve each lady. I find it a blessing and a calling to help these women further their relationship with the Lord by being apart of this amazing ministry!!

I have about 10 spots open in my group. If y’all would like to join me here is the link to my Facebook group!

  4. Hey Ladies!
I just purchased my leadership book and can’t wait to start 2018 off right with a group of like minded women growing in God’s word. I’m a homeschooling mom of two boys. I live in Ohio. Opening my group up to any. I do not have Facebook do this will be done just by email. Please email me at catliptak@gmail.com. Happy new year to all and can’t wait to start:)

    God bless,

  5. I started a GMG group in Western New York the very first session you introduced it all those years ago with 10 women. Half I knew and half I didn’t. Today I oversee 3-4 groups of 5-7 ladies every session. Several have come and gone, but more than half of our original ladies are still going strong. We have formed an amazing bond and I love hearing the testimonies of how being in the Word has changed lives! Thank you for following God’s leading in GMG!

    1. Amy – wow! I love hearing how long you have been here and how God has grown your groups not just numerically but with depth as well. That’s wonderful!

      Thank you for sharing!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  6. Hi Courtney,

I have followed your blog for a while but I had never actually done one of your studies until now. I am also new to the SOAK method. I recently started The Rest and Release Bible Study and I am loving it. I feel like with the initial reading of the Word for the workbook questions and then going back to color code the words, it really does SOAK in . Hence the name Haha. I am excited about the new changes in your life and ministry and look forward to seeing what the Lord will do.
    Happy New Year.
    Keep the Faith,

  7. Hi Courtney
This is LaShana Jones from Kalamazoo, MI. This year has been difficult for me to lead my group because in January of 2017 my mother passed away from breast cancer. Then I became pregnant with a premature baby in February after my mom’s funeral. My son James Clarence Jones is a miracle baby. He was born at 28 weeks gestation on September 9, 2017. My water broke in August of 2017. His due date was November 2017. But my husband and I are still in the hospital with him waiting to take him home tomorrow December 31, 2017. This has been a very long and trying year as a lost a parent and became a first time parent at the same time. I don’t think I will be leading anymore groups right now. But I would like to participate in one.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear of your difficult year. If you have Facebook, you are more than welcome to join my group. I’m the first comment so you can just click on that link. I will be changing it to secret later today. I hope you join us! 🙂

    2. Hey girl! Prayers to you and your family. As a fellow mom to premature babies I know what the road ahead looks like.
My son was born 6 weeks early but was behind in growth to 8-10 weeks early. He was only 2 pounds 14 oz. He’s now 6 and the craziest, cutest, God loving six year old I’ve ever seen. Need a friend email me. I’m doing a group too. Catliptak@gmail.com. prayers for your family.

      God bless,
      Cat

      1. Hi LaShana,
I’m Kelly Gehart and I lead GMG Detroit! You are welcome to join! It is a private FB group so I just sent you a friend request. If you accept I’ll add you. 🙂

We just finished up the She Reads Truth Advent study and will jump back in with GMG and the Book of Romans.

Praying for you and your family.

Of course! Please friend request me on FB and I’ll add you to the group. When I tried to search for you it brought up 5 people Gloria Hannah!

  8. Hello Courtney,

My name is Kelly Gehart (gay-heart). I cannot even begin to tell you what your ministry has done for me! I joined your FB group during one of the hardest years of my life 2+ years ago – a struggling marriage that ended in divorce after 15 years and a career change. During that time I knew I needed to be in my Word but every devotion out there seemed difficult and overwhelming. I don’t remember how I found GMG but kept me grounded in the Word. The Lord pressed on my heart to start a group because so many of my friends had similar challenges – difficult schedules and a desire for something simple and easy. GMG Detroit started with the Book of James. Then my Aunt Marie (a missionary in Uruguay) began working with your International team to start a group there. And to think, it all starts with that still small voice of God asking/telling and an obedient heart. We are called to “go” and He does the rest. I tell so many about your testimony. The call on your heart to be a world-changing missionary then finding yourself a housewife/mom thinking you were so far from that calling yet here you are today touching so many areas of the world from your laptop! God is so good and so big! Bless you!

Couple questions for my planning. Will you continue creating content (each day’s images/scriptures/discussion questions) and posting it on the blog all together the week before? I like to get my posts up by 6am so waiting for you to post on FB then re-sharing it will change the timing. Will you be doing more studies after Romans?

Thank you for your obedience to God! it’s strange you don’t know me but I feel like we are friends! So blessed to “know” you and call you my friend!

    1. Hi Kelly!

I am so sorry for my delayed response. I don’t know how I missed your comment here. 🙁

So to answer your questions – yes- I will still be posting all the resources for the week every Monday here on the blog. I typically post them by 8pm on Sundays so you can grab them the night before if that helps. And yes – I plan to continue on with the Blogging Through the Bible Series after this study.

I’m so glad you are joining us again!!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

    1. Hi Raquel,

Yes – we have lots and lots of leaders who use Facebook Groups and Facebook pages. It’s a wonderful way to connect!

      Love,
      Courtney 🙂

  9. Hi Courtney! I’m looking forward to the Leader’s Manual!
Our open group is through awomanaftergodsheart.com and A Woman After God’s Heart—Bible Study Group on Facebook! We’d love new members to join us!

    1. Kayla I would love to join your group! I’m going to head over and try and send you a private message via FB and your the website you linked above.

  10. Thank you Courtney. Looking forward to you leading us again in 2018. I will be leading our group so I should probably get the leaders guide. Very excited to have you back.

  11. I must need Directions For Dummies. My husband and I really want to do a Bible Study on Romans, Hebrews, and other books. I got so excited when I found this. However, I keep finding I’m redirected to get a Leader’s Guide, that part of the program is shutting down, and to join various FB groups. I don’t want to be a leader, just Hubby and me. I am not a blogger. Which FB group? I’m a bit confused.
    ?????

    1. Hi Peggy,
You can order a Romans journal for you, and one for your husband and study the Word together! You don’t have to lead a group, or even be on Facebook.
There is a traditional set up for Good Morning Girls groups, but the main goal is the be in God’s Word daily. I think studying along with your hubby is a great idea! ❤❤❤

    2. Hi Peggy,

You do not need a group to join us. The groups are for ladies who like to keep each other accountable and share about their devotions. I think it’s wonderful that you and your husband would do this together! Just follow along here on the blog on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays and you’ll have everything you need.

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney 🙂

  12. I am looking to join a FB Group, does anyone have one? I live in the Pacific Northwest, and looking for a group to learn and grow along side. I am working mom/wife (of 21 years), I have three kids, one in college, one in high school, one in middle school. My life gets crazy busy and need to ground myself in His Word and draw closer.

    Thanks!
    Melody

  13. I am looking to join a group but not sure how or where. I am a eife and mother of four adult children. I travel a lot as a consultant…so an online forum will work wonderfully!!! I was studying Romans with Bible Study Fellowship but found myself missing many. I just ordered the book…and looking to join a group. Thanks. Kelly

    1. Hi Kelly,
      Are you on Facebook?
You are welcome to join the GMG group I am leading there!
If so, just as me as a friend and I can add you to the group! ????
You can find me under my email address… Megntexas [at] yahoo.com

  14. I am interested in joining a group, is there anyone in the Raleigh, Durham NC area? If not I can definitely look into an online group. I am not married and don’t have kids.

  15. Are there any leaders in the Greenville, SC area? I am interested in joining a group. I’ll be ordering my book today. I’m a wife of 17 years and a mom of 3 boys – 13, 11 & 7.

  16. Hi ladies! I have done many of the studies, over the years, but have never joined a group! I am from Ohio…any FB groups for that area?

    -krista

    1. Hi Debbie – the leader’s manual does not cover how to technically open a Facebook group because technology is always changing and by the time I write and publish how to do it – it would probably change again. Lol! But it does explain how to lead a Facebook group. 😉

As long as your facebook group is not set to “secret” you can post your link to your group here in the comment section and if it is marked “closed” the woman interested can request to “join the group” and then you can accept her request.

      I hope that helps. 😉
      Courtney

  17. I am a Mother of 2 adult sons…2 young grandsons and in Oklahoma. Would love to join a group. Any openings? Thank you so much for this study. TRULY appreciate all you do. Thank you!!

  18. I know it’s just hours away from beginning, I don’t know if it’s too late but I just opened up my group on FB. I am sorry, I have been very busy and the date just kind of sneaked up on me!!

I am so excited and looking forward to doing this study myself, and was moved to open a group.
I have lead a group a couple of times before with GMG and had a great time with all of the ladies!

If anyone is still looking, you can find me at this link:

    1. Hi! I am a grandmother, retired and I have a doctorate in ministry! I love studying God’s word and miss being in a bible study!

I lost my mom this May to Alzheimer’s and I am just starting to get my life back and am excited to do something for me! I cannot think of a greater activity than to grow my mind and heart through God’s word and the fellowship of other women passionate about God!
I do not have the journal book from amazon but I will read the chapters each day and answer the questions from the blog. I would love to be part of a group, and to be able to share with other Godly women!

  19. Im so happy to have back, regularly blogging. That’s where I first found you years ago (before I came to faith) and with all the changes in my life and in your life since then, Im looking forwards to reading regularly.
