Are You A Strong Believer? This is for you.

As strong believers, we have an obligation to the body of Christ to live and function in unity and harmony. If you're are strong believer, this is for you. #Biblestudy #Romans #WomensBibleStudy #GoodMorningGirls

Are you a strong believer? This is for you.

Romans 15:1 addresses the strong and tells us our obligation inside the church.  Join me on this video as we discuss Romans 15:1-7 and how this passage also applies to the epidemic of teenagers leaving the church, once they become college age.

Two verses I did not mention in the video, that are part of today’s passage are Romans 15:5 & 6.

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Imagine if on Sunday morning everyone stood to sing a song or hymn and everyone turned to a different page in the song book or hymnal.

Imagine if we were all on a different page and the pianist and guitar guy and the director were all on different pages too. Then the director lifted his hands for us to sing and we all sang a different song.

There’d be chaos.

God wants us to live in harmony – in unity – to share one voice of love.

We have one director – God.

We have one book – the Bible.

We have one song to sing – love.

When we live our lives together in unity, it is beautiful like a choir singing together.  Some will sing the melody and others the harmony and some may belt it out strong, while others may still be learning the song and sing quieter.

But together we are one.  May we glorify God, as we love one another.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35)

  1. So well said Courtney! My son is 17 and experiences this at the church that we go to. Our family shows him nothing but love and we talk with him about how judging is wrong., and that sometimes people in the church make the mistake of doing it. Unfortunately he wants nothing to do with it anymore. He still goes with us on Sunday but I don’t know how to show him that everyone in the church isn’t like that. It’s been a real struggle and my prayers are unceasing for the church as well as my son.

    1. GOD BLESS YOU ????

Hi, I was in your son’s current position. I am now 43 yrs old. Only now am I coming home to GOD. Sometimes it feels like the world is against me and it hurts. That hurt quickly becomes anger. Just keep loving him like you do, and keep praying that Jesus himself tal with your son. I promise that our Lord will keep him safely and lovingly close to home. When GOD says it’s the right time. I love you for being a wonderful and loving soul .

  2. Wow Courtney! I had tears in my eyes and was so moved by this teaching. I agree with you about the youth and young adults in our churches. I was so discouraged for a time about how we’re losing our young adults. My friend and I have started a college ministry to those going to college/university away and in our own home town Flint, MI. We send encouraging cards every month. We have 25 students and 25 sponsors who do this. At finals week, we send care packages, encouraging notes and a $10.00 gift card to let them know we at the church are praying for them and love them dearly. The students are appreciative. We started a FB group for the sponsors and parents to send us prayer requests and let us know how their student is doing. We just started this in September of 2017. God put this together. My heart is for this age group. Thank you for bringing this to our attention once again.

  3. This is so good! Thank you so much for sharing this, Courtney! I am currently dealing with own teenagers who struggle with issues like loneliness, depression and fear. It is such a challenging place to be a parent and try to share what God has taught me over the years. And sometimes it seems that they do not even take it from their own parents, but at least we try. All I can say that I am so thankful for this study, and how supportive it has been. It has given some new encouragement to press on, to be the stronger, to stand by them, to remind them of Jesus and the hope we have in Him.

  4. This was an incredible video! Thank you for sharing your heart. I have a heart for teens. I am finishing up writing a bible study for teens on contentment. You are so right, we have to show them love and grace or they will be done with us! Thank you for your bold teaching! You always inspire me.

  5. Wow.. We have the same passion.. And I was literally moved to tears hearing this encouragement.. To Get Out and BE!

More people need to see this video..
We can’t expect our youth to listen to us if we adults are living in hypocrisy.

I had every intention to begin Romans with you guys..but my personal life has taken a topsy turvy.. But the other day I had my 3 young guys sit and I read Romans 1 and today 2 n 3 ..and I use the study questions. I know that no matter what maybe happening in my marriage and now separation..I still have. Heart n Desire for my children to know the LoRd and be Strong in him..

    Thank you for this video..

  6. This isn’t just an issue impacting the “young” and/or the “weak”. This is how the church as a whole treats anyone they judge as being young and/or weak. I love God and strive to know him and grow in my faith. I am 46 years old and have been a Christian for 20 years, but in general the “church” has treated me worse than most unbelieving people I know. Most of the Christians I have known pretend to be compassionate and loving, but only if they judge you to truly need compassion. Unfortunately, most victims of abuse are not judged to worthy of love, compassion, and protection by the church. The recent victim impact statements made by the victims of Larry Nassar are just the tip of the iceberg. While our society as a whole is starting to respond appropriately, the church is still hiding its head in the sand and protecting abusers.

  7. Thank you for sharing this. It is definitely a much needed wake-up call. My own 2 girls have left the church. So I really understand this. Believe me, I have tried my hardest not to be judgmental for most of my adult life. It can be so difficult. We all need to be praying to show love to everyone, not just the youth and younger in faith believers.
I am so glad that we have been going through the book of Romans. It has been so good and so full of good stuff.
Thank you for your willingness to serve in this capacity as leader.

  8. Wow, thank you so much so this video! I am going thru this with my oldest son, once he went to college he wanted less and less to do with church. Freshman year he tried seeking answers to some hypocrisy and judge mental attitudes he saw and was experiencing but could not find the support he need on a consistent basis at school. Unfortunately our church was going thru some changes in leadership at the same time, changes which just continued to drive him away. Now he has walked away from it all. I pray constantly for him.

This video and study has challenged me to be more loving, to show him and others that this is not how everyone in the church is.

  9. Very powerful words & convicting Courtney, In total agreement with you on this subject. A couple of ours are into their teens now, each with a different level of spiritual maturity. We need to love people like Jesus loves them (Young & old). Bless you!

  10. Courtney, I don’t know if you come back to these older posts or not. But I am going to put this here. I’m feeling like it’s an appropriate place to ask questions and seek some Godly wisdom. How do we “love”t hose that not only have made mistakes, but are currently living in sin and reaping consequences but not willing to walk away from the sin? What does that look like on a practical level? I can tell them I love them, but how do I “minister” to them. I can pray for them but how do I talk to them? Them, being my own family member and others too.
Thanks for your ministry, and showing women how to live well and walk with the KIng!
