WLW Wednesday Link-Up Party and My Top 5!
Here’s my Top 5 Favorite Posts of the week:
1. The picture above is from a wedding I attended this past Saturday. The bride, Olivia, blogs at Her Noble Character . She and her husband shared their very first kiss at the altar! What a beautiful picture of purity. It was an honor to be invited and here’s a picture of them kissing at the reception – they had no problem warming up to this kissing thing :)! Check out her blog sometime!
2. I am excited to share that I will be a contributor on a new site called The Better Mom. The site launches August 1st and I’ll be sure to let you know when I’m contributing there. Ruth, the creator of the site, also attended the Moody Bible Institute! 3 cheers for alumni!!!
3. Speaking of trying to be a better mom – I have struggled with failure in parenting lately…and I shared about it in a Good Morning Girls video here.
4. This post on parenting encouraged me this week: Failure Is Not An Option
5. And sweet Sally encouraged me here: First Time Obedience, Really She caused quite a stir with this post…so I don’t expect you to all agree…but maybe it will encourage you?

ooooh! Fabulous! I’m off to check out your favs right now.
Great picture and great links! Thanks for sharing and for hosting.
My husband and I shared our first kiss at the alter too. It was worth waiting for. 🙂
Funny you should mention the struggle with failure in parenting – I’m fighting that too! I’ll have to take time to watch the video (I’m not a video lover on blogs – I don’t have the time to sit and watch them . . .but when one seems really good, I will do it!) Also, thanks for posting the link to the article on Obedience. I scanned it and have it book marked to actually read it and absorb it when I have some quiet moments. I need the time to really concentrate on it 🙂
Oops, couldn’t figure out the Linky thing, and posted twice. Numbers 37 and 38 are both mine :\ Trying to figure out how to do all this! If you need to delete one, feel free! Thanks for the opportunity to share and for sharing links with us!
Bless you for sharing your space for us to find new blogs to love. I’m enjoying your!
May you find a special blessing tucked in your week for your kindness.
Blessing,
Pamela
Courtney, I am excited for you to start Classical Conversations! I have been homeschooling 14 years and I just found CC last fall. I taught the Essentials program because I’ve had experience with Institute for Excellence in Writing for many years. I can’t say enough good things about CC – or IEW for that matter. I really hope you are going to enjoy it too!
Love your blog. Found it during that contest last month (?) you and Sally’s blog were in.
We are utilizing the Khan Academy online – http://www.khanacademy.com . It’s FREE, and it’s awesome. I am using it only for math. it starts from the basics and can go all the way through very advanced math. there are short videos the student (I am a “student too!”) watches and then you go through practice problems. there are rewards and tracking systems. I am signed up as my children’s “coach” so I can see their progress. I love it because they can go as fast and as far as they can. There is built in review as well. if you go to TED talks and look up Khan, he explains this flip on teaching and learning. He says the students watch the video, try the problems, then if they don’t do well or don’t understand then you come alongside to “coach” by mentoring, modeling, and making it meaningful for them.
I had lots of grandious plans and curriculums as well, but they have sort of fallen to the wayside for just summer and reading.
I follow Olivia’s blog, too, and I was thrilled to see the wedding pictures. I’m so excited for these two as they begin their life together.
I’m doing my first ever blog hop, so if you would like to link, I would be so honored. Thanks!

I was so encouraged by that blog post by Sally Clarkson, too. Gave me much to think about.
Looking forward to checking out The Better Mom, too. Yea for Moody alumni!! 🙂 Speaking of, I’m so looking forward to meeting you and chatting at Relevant11. We may not have been at MBI the same years, but there’s something about the common heritage, makes you feel like family.
Thanks for letting me share posts from my websites!

I stopped by last week (In the Middle of the Big Move) – and grabbed your button. You had double quotes in places where you just need one set of quotes (“). Your blog has a southern, welcoming feel to it:) Stopping by feels like home!
Sally Clarkson’s post came to my mind in the wee hours of the night last night. I found it again this morning and linked up in my morning post. Too funny! We must be in the same parenting place right now!
Hey Courtney, I accidently added the same post twice, you are welcome to delete one… sorry! (117 & 139) Love your site!
Hi there, Thank you for your blog. I’m trying to make so many changes in my life to make God the focus, and it hasn’t been easy. I used to attend women’s Bible Study, but due to the kids, I’ve stopped. I feel the calling for a better life, to become a better version of me. I believe your blog will help. Thanks for doing this.
