Matthew
Welcome to our study through the gospel of Matthew. If you want to grow closer to Jesus – this is the way! Read just one chapter a day in the book of Matthew and soak in the awesomeness of your Savior.
Though the book is anonymous, scholars agree that it was written by the apostle Matthew. Matthew’s main goal in writing was to prove that Jesus is the Messiah. He shows this by writing about how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies. All of the gospel writers quote the Old Testament but Matthew includes 9 unique Old Testament proof texts.
Matthew starts at the beginning with Jesus’ lineage and birth and walks us through the start of Jesus’ ministry, the great Sermon on the Mount, and the commissioning of the 12 disciples. In the middle, we will learn so much about Jesus’ life and love and see many miracles performed and parables told. Finally, we will read about the arrest, trial, death and resurrection of Jesus. This gospel ends with the Great Commission.
Enjoy your study in the book of Matthew!
