Snickerdoodles
I LOVE this recipe and last year when I made these I took pictures of me and Lexi making them – I’ll post them at the bottom – but first – here’s Janelle from Comfy in the Kitchen with her tasty recipe! Janelle writes:
When last minute company is heading over, what do you make? Snickerdoodles! When you are fresh out of chocolate chips and your teenage son’s friends come over to “hang out”, what do you make? Snickerdoodles! When it’s cold and rainy outside and you are in the mood to bake something simple with the kidos…what do you make? Snickerdoodles!
Ladies, this is my ALL-TIME favorite Snickerdoodle recipe. There is NOTHING that smells better than these cookies baking…many a candlemaker has tried to put this smell in a jar and sell it, but alas…the real thing is just unmatchable. The mixture of butter, vanilla, cinnamon and sugar is good enough to make anyone’s mouth water! YUMMmmm….
And here is the “Top Secret” recipe…Shhhh…
In a large bowl, add butter, sugar and brown sugar
Mix well with mixer
Add an egg and vanilla
In a bowl mix together flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar.
Mix together
*chill* for 30 mins in the refrigerator (do not skip this step, my Dears). Scoop into Tablespoon sized cookies.
Roll in cinnamon and sugar
Bake in a 300 oven for 14-16 mins (they will still be gooey) The key is to leave them on the baking sheet for a couple of mins so they will continue to bake. Then, place them on a cooling rack.
Wanna bite??? These are dense and buttery and ohh so good.

Two things:
1. I’m totally trying this recipe tomorrow. My hubby LOVES snickerdoodles!
2. You and your daughter are just the. cutest. ever. Seriously!!
I made my first Snickerdoodles earlier this year. I was testing a recipe to see if I would like it for Christmas time.
So now Snickerdoodles will be a Christmas tradition.
When I was scrolling down and got to your picture only part of your face showed (the rest had not caught up with my scrolling yet) I thought my jaw would drop. You look almost identical to a sweet gal I was in choir with at my last church. Both of you are wonderful Christian women. Now that I’ve said that I’ll also say this cookie recipe looks divine. My hubby and I love snickerdoodles and I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you so much for this recipe! Snickerdoodles are my FAV, but I haven’t been able to find a good recipe for them. I can’t wait to make these tomorrow and enjoy them will a cup of coffee! Yummy!
How many cookies does this recipe make approximately? Including the ones that you ate while the cookie dough was unbaked, lol.
You are so cute 🙂 My boys LOVE to help me bake. In our old house, this was accomplished much easier (because I had a bigger kitchen), and we’re still trying to figure out how to make it work here, but they love it.
I don’t love snickerdoodles, but my family does so I make them sometimes…I love to make thumbprint cookies out of snickerdoodles, they’re perfect for it. I’ve made them with raspberry preserves or homemade apple butter drizzled with icing…yum!
I have never had snickerdoodles but those look fantastic!!! I am so going to make them!
Made these tonight. YUMMY!!!
These cookies look so delicious! I keep those ingredients all the time, so I think I should make them soon now that the season for cinnamon is here!
Blessings,
Leslie
These cookies are DELICIOUS! I made them today and I will be surprised if they last until tomorrow!
Hi Courtney! I stumbled upon your website searching the web for an awesome snickerdoodle recipe and the blessing I received has been far greater than tonight’s dessert for my family! I am tremendously blessed to be a stay home mom of five and married to an amazing, Godly man of 21 years! My ministry is truly being a wife, a mother, a home manager and an encourager to others every day! I just love listening to what the Lord has taught you in your ministry and through the studying of His Word. I am certain that finding your website was no accident, but a gift from God! Keep sharing His wisdom with others, good and faithful servant! May God richly bless your family in the new year and beyond as you turn hearts toward Him!
Joyfully in Jesus,
Stephanie
