Jealousy Destroys Relationships: 2 Cures For Jealousy

Jealousy can hit us out of nowhere and surprise us with it's intensity. Jealous destroys relationships, here are two cures for jealousy. #Biblestudy #1Samuel #WomensBibleStudy #GoodMorningGirls

Jealousy can hit us out of nowhere.  Life can feel great and then suddenly – it’s not so great.  That’s because jealousy is about so much more than just wanting what someone else has.  Proverbs 14:30 says “jealousy makes the bones rot“.  It is a deep – often secret – emotion that destroys not only relationships but ourselves in the process.

The first murder in history – between Cain and Abel – stemmed from the emotion of jealousy.  Jealousy destroys relationships but I have good news – you can overcome it! Join me on this video as we discuss 2 Cures for Jealousy.

Another cure, I did not mention in the video, is choosing to have a grateful heart.

Jealousy sucks the joy, peace, and happiness out of our lives and cannot co-exist with a grateful heart.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
~1 Thessalonians 5:18

Let’s choose gratefulness today.

Walk with the King,

Courtney

  1. You probably don’t feel like it BUT you are an amazing woman! Your life’s story will help so many and that, as painful as it is, is a ministry. And add your knowledge of the Word and your love for God…my oh my that adds up!
I love the accountability of doing the studies through Karen’s group. I look forward ro the videos here and see if I missed anything in the lessons. And your accountability to the group is going to be blessed by God in ways you never imagined. As beautiful as you are, there will be anniversaries for you to have. Remember God gives beauty for the ashes of our lives…I should know for I have a heap of ashes He is still giving life to.
I keep a prayer journal and pray over people and events…you and your family are still on my list. You are making a difference even in ways you don’t know. Keep focused on Jesus! Love to you my sister ❤

    1. Wow! Courtney, thank you for your vulnerable video! What an amazing person you are and an inspiration to many! May God continue to bless you and bring you contentment and never-ending joy!

  2. Thank you for leading us on the right path. You are incredibly strong and you are a light for thousand of people around the world.

  3. I have been Jealous this week because a nephew has been born and I am not able to visit him or family when I want. I am lonely and in a troubled marriage, I also have a difficult pregnancy and am watching others have their babies with no problems and announce their pregnancies, when I cannot. God really spoke to me this week in my quiet time and also through our study as well as your video/ blog here. It was the icing on the cake! Thank you Courtney, my prayers are with you. God Bless <3

  4. Courtney you are such an inspiration…truly a light shining brightly for God! Thank you for all that you do and your transparency…may God continue to sustain you and stay beautiful and true! You are in my heart and prayers!

    Much love
    Lisa

  5. I’ve been fighting jealousy lately. And like you said, it comes from out of nowhere. I recognized God speaking on the day I read through chapter 18. Especially recognizing Saul’s actions in myself. Very humbling. Thanks for tips on making this a little easier. To see that others struggle helps to not bore up resentment with ourselves, but to know that it gets the best of us and to brush off and get up again.

As for your anniversary, I’m not sure when you took Jesus’ hand, but that day is a wonderful day to celebrate every year. May we celebrate the life changing day with Jesus and count those Anniversay years. My heart goes out to you. When others hurt, I hurt and I will be praying for you.
…I just got to get the “rejoice when others rejoice” part down. 😉

  6. Thank you, Courtney, your Bible studies and videos are always so encouraging. It’s not often I see integrity in action, but I am impressed when I do.

  7. Courtney, So glad you’re here. I am struggling with jealousy. I have no right to be and try not to be. I believe it is Satan’s way of stealing my joy. I cannot allow him to do that. I am praying for you and your family. I know you have worked at being a great wife. God can do mighty things. Keep doing what you know is right. God has you in His hands. Thanks for the post.

  8. Thank you Courtney for your faithfulness to Gods Word. I see you not just talking about your faith, but living it out, despite your circumstances! It’s so encouraging and helps me to strive to do the same with the Lords help.
You are a wonderful example to your kids and all those around you as well.!!????

Thank you and praying for you and your family!

  9. Thank you, Courtney, for sharing your difficult season of life with us. You have always been so encouraging for so many of us. We have been blessed to have a strong, Godly role model in our lives. Lifting you and your family up in prayer.

  10. Your transparency is beautiful. He is using your heartache mightily. I’m sorry that it is the path that you are on as it hurts but thankful you are brave enough to let God work through your pain. Many blessings.

  11. Wow! This video blessed me beyond measure. I struggle greatly with jealousy and find that I am too embarrassed to ask anyone to hold me accountable in this area.

Thank you for your wisdom and transparency!

    God Bless you!

  12. Courtney, I love your heart and your transparency. You are on my prayer list and I plan to keep you (and your kids) there. Thank you for being upfront and allowing yourself to be emotional. It evokes emotion in me and creates the capacity for prayer over you, as well as my own family, immediately. Life doesn’t always go the way we plan it, but I am thankful that we serve an amazing God who always is looking out for us and loving us.

  13. Thank you so much for this post. I have been struggling with jealousy and depression for a long time, feeling that I have been the ‘loser’ in life when actually God has blessed me with a family, home–and Him. I keep feeling the struggle to repent and stay positive and remember to give thanks.

  14. All I can say is a big Amen Courtney! Thank you for preaching the word endlessly and especially covering the topics that most religious people avoid or play down as not serious. I have been on both sides of the spectrum. The marriage thing has always been hard because I lost mine to cancer when I was only 34and my kids were so little. When I see people celebrating anniversaries or high school graduation when both parents are there, it wells up inside me. When people complain about their spouse or how hard they have it , I catch myself rolling my eyes. I had to celebrate my dad’s 40th wedding anniversary to my stepmom in may. That was so hard to be living thru that occasion. In my mind I said that should have been my mom, and how would my life turn out differently. On the other side I’ve had friends jealous of me for certain reasons, and although they try to keep it secret, Galatians says the act of sinful nature are obvious. It is awkward to know ur friend is jealous of u, then u don’t trust their motives, and in essence their is no relationship anymore. Amen to love , contentment and gratitude it really does come down to it personal relationship with God which is why I believe Jonathan was able to do what he did. With God we can do the unthinkable.

  15. You’re amazing to talk about this today! I love love love how sweet, and honest you are. Thank you for all you do, even on the days when it is hard. God bless you Courtney!!! Praying for you!

  16. This was the very first podcast I listened to, I have to admit I was doing it in a rush but the moment I began to listen it caused me to hit the pause button and run to get my bible. I knew almost in an instant that I had philosophically sat down for a delightful meal….to which, I think you should know that I paused in that moment (of getting my bible and making my way back to my computer) and excitedly said “THANK YOU LORD!” and then in a still second I paused again and said humbly “thank you Lord”. I share this with you because we know that when we encourage, teach, point others back and to Christ… that we step into the spiritual battlefield … and boy oh boy can it get turbulent in there but -as the good word says “we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus” and so, if for anything, I hope this post encourages you back. For I am grateful to God, for your faithfulness to this ministry, to the Word, and for you steady strides in serving Him by serving us…remembering that “when you have done it unto the least of the bretheren you’ve done it unto Him”…. seriously, you never know where you touch sometimes…oh the goodness of the Holy Spirit…like the wind, just as the bible says….
So Surely, He is on the move and he is using you! Though it is so wild to be a recipient of His love through the venue of technology, the fact is I am so blessed that you use this tool and your gifts to reach us. Oh my gosh, how do I say thank you for reminding me today of these simple truths: that “love conquers all” and likewise as we read back in Joshua, to be “strong and courageous”…. trusting in Him always. Wow. Thank you for your candor, and heart in this lesson and all those lessons to come. Praying for you and the ministry – in Jesus, CM

  17. Courtney,
God bless you! God has blessed me by using you and I’m so thankful for that. You are a great example to many and I love how you walk with the King in the journey he has for you ???? you are God’s special pearl and He loves you!

  18. Thank you so much for continuing to encourage us every week with your videos. Thank you for being such a great example of faith to us even in the midst of the hard struggle that you and your children have been going through this past year. Praying for you 🙂

  19. I needed to hear this today. My husband and I are seperated and I have been jealous of him.
He may have earthly things, but I have God. I can choose to be grateful in God’s love and I think I had forgotten that.
    Thank You.

  20. Courtney, thank you so much for your ministry even during this rough season in your life. Your words have drawn me closer to God and I will never be able to thank you enough for that. You are such blessing and I continue to pray for you daily.

  21. Courtney– You’re certainly looking So Beautiful! Thank You for another inspiring video. I don’t know if anyone could reach me the way that you do – your delivery is always perfect -and you’re always a Breath of Fresh Air, bringing me the most meaningful messages. Thank You. I’m sending you My Love and My Blessings for a Wonderful Season!

  22. Thank you Courtney, for being so real- for revealing that you face the same obstacles, struggles and doubts that so many of us face, yet your faith is unwavering. Thank you for your example, inspiration and encouragement. My prayers are with you and your family.

  23. I LOVE THIS! When I find myself experiencing thoughts or feelings of jealousy, I take a step back and mentally make a list of everything I have to be grateful for. Sometimes all we can see are the things we DON’T have, completely overlooking what we DO have…but there is so much we have to be grateful for! I have to remind myself that, in everything, God is working for MY good, just as He is working for THEIR good. In our circumstances, in our families, in our careers, and in our relationships, God is constantly sharpening us and molding us. Contentment is about expressing gratitude and trusting that God has us exactly where He needs us in order to help us develop a deeper love and understanding of Him! This is a good reminder to stop and fill our hearts and minds with gratitude if/when we begin to feel jealous of what another person has. God loves us as much as He loves them, and He knows what is best for each. We are blessed with so much more than we realize! Thank you for sharing this with us!

  24. I completely understand what you are saying. When our 3rd child died, and we knew we couldn’t have anymore children, many of my friends had babies at the same time. My closest friend had her baby the day before mine was born. I could have been very jealous but I choose to love each and every one of those babies and their moms. I do get upset and wonder why I can’t have more of my own children when I love them so much, but I know that God has an amazing plan for my family’s life. Somebody told me shortly after we lost our baby that I am too Christian to be bitter and jealous. I know that out is a choice that I choose not to give in to.

  25. Prayed for you today Christine. Encouraged by your video/ posy. Thank you for not being afraid to be honest.

  26. Thank you so much! This is helping me in one of the times I need it most! I really needed the part where jealousy is not being content. Thank you so much!
