Happy 10 Year Anniversary to the Blogging Through the Bible Series!

I can’t believe that TODAY marks 10 YEARS since the “Blogging Through the Bible” Series began!

On August 20th, 2014, I posted this post linked below titled Welcome Home Good Morning Girls”. in that post I announced the beginning of a NEW series titled “Blogging through the Bible!”

At the time, I imagined this would be a 3-5 year journey. I was wrong. Lol!

We are now 36 Books of the Bible in after 10 years and we have 30 to go! AND I am just as excited today to continue on in this journey — as I was the day I began! πŸ˜ƒ

Did you know?

The Bible has been read out loud and recorded and it takes a total of 70 hours and 40 minutes to listen to the entire Bible.

If you do the math and divide that number by 365 days you get 12 minutes a day.

12 minutes a day! That’s it.

In just 12 minutes a day, we could read or listen to the entire Bible cover to cover –

every.
single.
year.

BUT I didn’t want to speed read through the Bible with you!

I wanted to meditate on it, study it, discuss it and let it soak into our hearts and souls and then live it out! I want to live a life transformed by the living and active word of God!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will isβ€”his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

And I wanted to do it together.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17

…And that is how the “Blogging through the Bible – One Chapter a Day” series was born!

God gave us 66 books of the Bible and I believe he wants us to study 66 books of the Bible!

This will take endurance to complete.

We must remember – this is not an endeavor to earn Jesus’ favor. We are already declared righteous because of his sacrifice on the cross.  This is an endeavor to know God more richly, to grow in righteousness, walk with the King daily and to be women living well.

Here’s what I wrote in one of my blog posts from 2014 (10 years ago):

“I will be here keeping you accountable every step of the way. Some will fall off the band wagon early – just hop back on whenever you can.

Others will join us midway.  I’ll archive my old posts and make them really easy for those who join us in the middle to go back at the end and complete the loop.

I’ll also have a check-list for those who want to mark off which books they have completed and which ones they want to go back and complete.”

GMG’s – I have kept my word from 2014 to you! ❀️

And I want to say to all those who have been here since the start

“Happy 10 Year Anniversary!”

You have been such an encouragement to me! And I love you girls SO much! Thank you for letting me be a part of this journey with you. I am humbled and honored to get to study God’s word together. ❀️

And so it’s time.

This is a four week study.
I have divided each chapter into a few sections.
So we will go through this book of the Bible more slowly than others.

For those who have been following the Good Morning Girls Bible Studies  β€“ you know that we studied Ezra and Nehemiah (from the Old Testament) last winter. So I’m excited to get back into the New Testament and complete Colossians!

What is Colossians all about?

The Book of Colossians is both deeply theological and deeply practical. Sometimes we can lean too hard one way or the other.Β  We may get so deep theologically that our faith becomes philosophical or we get so caught up in looking for practical instruction that we miss the foundation that our day to day life is to be built upon.Β

This book is going to challenge us in both areas.

Colossians is an important letter written by Paul to the church in Colossae, located in Asia Minor.

Paul’s purpose in writing this letter is to warn the church of the dangers of following false teaching that weakens the foundation of our identity in Jesus Christ and prevents proper spiritual maturity. He encourages them to battle courageously against sin and grow as mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

You don’t want to miss this!

If you are new, welcome to Good Morning Girls! We are so glad you are here!

We are Reading Through the Bible– one chapter a day – five days a week.
