12 Ways to Change the Atmosphere of Your Home
In case you missed the first announcement, we are about to begin the ALL NEW Making Your Home a Haven Bible Study on Monday, November 4th.
Some of you have asked if this is the same study from years before,
and the answer is –> NO, this study is ALL NEW.
Every year, the challenges are the same but the daily Bible reading and videos and theme are ALL NEW.
This years theme is
“Life Rhythms That Bring Rest“
We will be looking at 5 Rhythms of Nature, 5 Rhythms of Work, 5 Rhythms of Reflection and 5 Rhythms of Remembrance that lead to rest.
Seasons are changing outside our homes.
It’s time for a CHANGE INSIDE our homes.
Lighting a candle changes the atmosphere of your home.
During this study, you will be challenged to light a candle everyday in your home!
I will be starting my candle in the morning but you can start yours at dinnertime or whenever is convenient for you. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home.
Each time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye, slow down, pray, remember God is with you and rest in his presence.
Do you want to change the atmosphere of your home?
Here’s a list of some of the ways I like to implement change in my home.
(from page 26 of “Life Rhythms that Bring Rest“).
12 Ways to Change the Atmosphere of Your Home
- Light a candle. ๐
- Turn on soft music, or if you need an energy booster, turn on music with a fast beat.
- Set a timer and go through the house de-cluttering for fifteen minutes straight. Itโs amazing how much we can accomplish in just fifteen minutes!
- Bake some brownies โ the aroma is a sure crowd-pleaser.
- Put flowers in a vase in the kitchen.
- Choose to smile at your family. Use gentle and encouraging words.
- Add soft blankets and pillows to make the room feel softer and more inviting.
- Give a back rub, tickle, or a hug.
- Read a book out loud or pull out a board game to play as a family.
- Change the lighting in your home in the evening. Turn on lamps rather than overhead lights. If you have a fireplace, light a fire.
- Put on a pot of hot tea, hot cocoa, or hot soup.
- Pray.
