God is the ultimate artist and when I’m at Janelle’s blog, I’m always reminded of the art of cooking. We reflect our creator in the kitchen when we create things of beauty.
How do you view the task of cooking? You know the average woman prepares over 1,000 meals a year!!! That’s why I post a recipe every Friday! Because we all could use a fresh idea or inspiration right? lol! We might as well embrace and enjoy it because it’s a huge part of our lives!
I have found much encouragement in Edith Shaeffer’s writings on this. Edith Shaeffer writes in The Hidden Art of Homemaking:
“Cooking should not be thought of as a drudgery, but as an art. Just as it is good to get one’s fingers into the soil and plant seeds, so it is good to get one’s fingers and fists into bread dough to knead and punch it. There is something very positive in being involved in the creativity which is so basic to life itself. Home-made bread, home-made cakes and pies, home-made vegetable soup from home-grown vegetables or from vegetable market purchases, home-made jams and jellies, home-made relishes and pickles – these are almost lost arts in many homes.”
”Food cannot take care of the spiritual, psychological and emotional problems, but the feeling of being loved and cared for, the actual comfort of the beauty and flavour of food, the increase of blood sugar and physical well-being, help one to go on during the next hours better equipped to meet the problems.”
Enjoy your cooking and Walk with the King!

Thanks for sharing this. Just getting ready to cook up some pumkin and wanted something other than just pumkin pie ideas. The trifle looks delicious and definately will try this.
Hey girl!
I saved her book to my desktop for use this season, and printed out the quote from Edith Shaeffer and stuck it up on my fridge. Thanks for your faithfulness. Love you, sweet friend!
Hi Courtney. I have kind of an odd question to ask. I would send you a message but could not find anywhere to do that so I will leave a comment. Do you have an open bite? I have a similar bite and am struggling with the potential possibility of having a 2nd jaw surgery. Just wondering if you have thoughts on it or if I should just leave it be. Do you get headaches often?
Thank you so much for being such an encouragement.
