I’ve been sick for over 3 weeks with a nasty cold (I just got antibiotics yesterday – so I’m on the mend 
) - I’ve had lots of nights sleeping on the couch trying to not wake my husband with my cough. During this time – I bought this book titled “Anything” by Jennie Allen on Kindle. When I was wide awake in the middle of the night, I sat and read Anything until I fell back asleep - it has touched me deeply. I haven’t finished it yet – but I so relate to every word in the book that I felt compelled to Facebook message Jennie and tell her how much I am loving her book. I live this prayer everyday since October 1997 when I met Jesus face-to-face. Every morning, I ask the LORD what He wants to do with my life that day, and I tell Him that I receive whatever and whomever He brings. When unexpected people or situations show up, I know that He sent them, and it takes away all frustration with train-wrecked plans since I know that He is in control. I often find myself singing the words to that old classic hymn “I Surrender All ”

I am really enjoying this study on Proverbs 31. I was fearful to start it but I am so glad that I did. God has shown me so many things. Some I have been doing well with, others that I feel like a total failure at. But God is faithful and He is showing me His strength and power and that with Him, all things are possible if I submit my will and my shortcomings to Him and let Him work in me. Thank you for this study!! It is changing lives.

Regardless of whether I win or not this may be a book I need right now. My heart is broken and my life turned upside down right now. Within 1 week I found out the man I have loved with all my heart for the past 2 years is cheating on me and I lost 2 beloved pets unexpectedly. At 46 I felt like my life was finally on track and that perhaps some long held dreams were finally going to come to pass for me. My relationship with God had never been stronger. Then overnight I felt as though a bomb was dropped into my life and I am left so broken hearted that I don’t even know how to speak to God much less what to say. Perhaps I have been the one chasing those things that I have felt and hoped would make me happy and would at last bring a measure of peace to my life. Maybe the things I have been chasing were never Gods plan for my life. I so desperatly need something to point me in the direction God wants for my life. Maybe God is waiting for me to agree to anything. Right now I just feel hurt, lost and alone. I know what I am going through pales in comparrison to what others are experiencing but it does not reduce the pain and hurt I am feeling at this time of my life.

It’s amazing how God works. This went right along wih walk/prayer with God this morning. I’ve been consistant about praying for the same thing and really working on it for a long time. Athough, I’ve never really surrendered it to him an dlet him do it for me. Funny how we want God to help, yet we still take control. Thanks for all you do with your video’s and blogs. I think I really could use this book right now. I have been battling depression and trying to deal with a very stressful attempt at trying to seek forgiveness from my mom who has shut my husband and I out of her life. A recent encounter with her and fighting depression lead me to getting shingles which I am slowly recovering from. This book sounds like just what I need to push me beyond. We have a group of 17 ladies studying Nehemiah by Kelly Minter this summer. The theme she is putting forth from this study is for each lady to pray, “Lord break my heart and give me a compassion for people and for finding what you want me to do for You!” This books sounds like it would be a great companion to this study. Sounds like a terrific read! Hope that you are feeling better soon! Our anything came after a long road of infant loss and fertility issues when we chose to adopt our oldest daughter! Then God gifted us with a healthy pregancy when she was a year old. So we have a beautiful transracial family now! Love letting God do ANYTHING with my life! Sometimes a scary road but always fruitful!

God is changing things in our home right now, we are trying to surrender to God, but our sinfulness makes it hard, we just have to keep kneeling. Maybe this book would be timely.

Oswald Chambers talks about being abandoned to Christ and I have often wondered what that looks like. I wish that I was abandoned completely, but have to admit I think I am far from it. I love persoanl testimonies that opens my eyes to the amazing ways God works.

God has been wrecking our life lately…. and my husband and I welcome it. We have been doing the study A Hole in the Gospel with friends and it’s wrecking us. I just finished the book The Same Kind of Different as Me (true story) and it wrecked me further. I just had our 6th baby in seven and a half years… and in the midst of this transition, have been blessed with eyes to see life around me differently. We started serving at a homeless shelter weekly and a children’s shelter monthly… and when I sit in Sunday School I wonder why we, as a church have grown content with being a “self licking ice cream cone” – where we consume the goods and are busy “serving” ourselves over and over again each week… not that serving in a church setting isn’t needed and important, but are we moving beyond the walls of church each week? Are we really open to allowing God FULL access to our lives – taking us wherever he wishes? All that to say, as I mention this to a friend, she emailed me the link to your blog. I’m going to be checking out this book whether I get a free copy or not, but a gift is always a pleasant surprise… so maybe this will be a gift to myself.

This book sounds like it would really be a blessing to me! I have had chronic physical pain for many years now that limits me in many ways and I’m struggling right now. I truly want to know God more deeply and discover what His purpose for my life is. I sincerely want to follow and be obedient to the Lord, but sometimes I find it very difficult to surrender my will to His will. I think this because I’m afraid that God’s will might involve continued or increased pain, suffering, and limitations. I think this book could really help me through some of these struggles. I truly want to come to a point where I am genuinely willing to give Him anything and everything without reservation! Thank you for the giveaway!

Wow. That is all I can say. What a moving and inspirational video. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking about how my life could change. I’ll admit that the thought of giving it up to God (I’m not yet sure what that is for me) is scary. I think because I don’t know what it means and I’m still a bit immature with my faith yet, having only been a Christian for about 2- 3 years. This book sounds very inspiring and thought-provoking – and hopefully will lead many of us to action. Thanks for sharing this. I can’t wait to read this whether I win a copy or not.

I hope you are feeling better! The books sounds really good, a little scary to pray “anything” to God. That’s probably why I need to read the book, He wants our everything, it’s funny, isn’t it, how we think we are fine – we spend time with the Lord, memorize scripture, pray, etc., but are we still on the fence, not really knowing where we belong. I find comfort in knowing He will lead me, however it may be time that I pray “anything, Lord”. Thank you for the book review! I just shared your facebook post on my facebook page. I would love to win this book! My “anything” is a child. My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for 4.5 years (and counting). I have seen friends and family get pregnant once and even twice while we are still trying to have our first. The pain is so bad sometimes. I am learning to be still and wait on God’s timing, to trust He has a plan for all of this. Some days are easier than others.

This seems to be a reoccurring message God has recently been sending to me & my husband. Whether we win one copy or not, I think we should read it. It sounds like exactly what God has been trying to say to us lately.
I almost didn’t enter because I thought what if I read the book and say I’ll do anything and God calls me on it… Which tells me that I really do need to read this book!
Wow, I just watched the video and was so deeply moved. I can’t wait to read this book. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and the doctors prognosis is not good. (God’s says she will live!) My husband and I live several hours away from her and are trying to move to the area to help out with her care. My husband received word that he got the job in the area, Praise God, and we are trying to purchase our first home. We are hitting stubbling block after stumbling block. I know that God has it all undercontrol, but with four children at home (who don’t want to be away from Daddy) I am finding it hard to look at them and tell them it is all going to be okay. The video on this book just put things so in perspective. I have been trying to fix this problem for to long and I am ready to give it to him. Thank you for this post!!!!

Thanks for the recommendation, Courtney! Maybe this will be my next book to read after I finish (for the 3rd time!) One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp. I’m guessing that you may have read it already, but if not, you really, really should!
I’m at that point again~ not sure what God has in store for my life and praying that He will continue to guide me and open my heart to “anything.” Clearly His plans are bigger than my own, which became obvious once again last year when I had to stop medical school because of being sick. It was (and sometimes still is) really hard to lose that dream, but not being in school allowed me to go to the Philippines and teach for 5 months. I just got back, moved to Cleveland, and am now looking for a new job, a new church, and new friends, and praying about what my next “anything” will be.

Did I ever tell you about the lady I met on an international flight three years ago who became my friend? A while ago I saw a re-post from WLW on her facebook page and asked her about it. Turns out, she (and her friends) follow you regularly! I’m not sure how she heard about you in the first place, whether it was a link from another homeschool site or Christian mommy blog or just a referral from a friend (she lives in Virginia), but regardless, I thought it was pretty cool! Small world, huh?
P.S. I know you’re super busy, but I’d love to see you sometime and catch up, if you’re free at all. For now, I have no job and don’t really know anyone up here, so my schedule is pretty open. I’m even happy to sit with you while Alex is at karate, if you don’t mind giving up that time on your iPad
