Organizing Your Kid’s Clothes for the Week

Now that the kids are in school – most moms are facing the pressure of getting your children dressed and out the door to the bus on time. My friend Hope sent me pictures of a very clever idea that can help mom’s avoid morning chaos.

Hope picks out all the clothes for her daughters for the entire week in advance and hangs them on hangers that are marked with the day of the week…then in the morning it’s simple! The kids (and daddy if he’s assisting ) know exactly what to put on. There are no morning battles or digging for a lost sock.
This nifty felt hangar has the day of the week written on it and an ‘X’ shaped hole to hold both socks AND underwear! If you are like me (a little less crafty) – you could probably get away with just putting the first letter of the day on your felt or I was even thinking you could use little shoe box bins and mark each day of the week on a different little bin. Then you could set the correct bin beside your child’s bed each night.
This was a fun project for the kids as they learned to spell the days of the week and it benefited mommy! You could add little flowers or jazz it up with some glitz! (side note: you must use craft glue)
Do you have a secret way to simplify your mornings!!! Do share!!!

  1. Great idea…would make my mornings go much more quickly, even if all I do is lay out the clothes the night before. 🙂

  2. What a great idea! I love when a task can accomplish more than one goal. Being organized and teaching children to learn the days of the week! Wonderful!

I taught the children when they were little about organization and we learned the days of creation at the same time. Discussing how God is a God of order and desires His children to be orderly as well!

  3. Okay, somehow I missed this post and came across it today. LOVE the idea. I have been thinking about buying one of those days of the week closet organizers, but this seems more fun, and less expensive.
If I have time today I will begin making them. Thanks for the idea!

  4. I just found your blog, and I'm loving this. We are converting to the family closet system right now, but I still like to have their clothes picked out in advance. This is perfect. Thanks!
