Hope for Haiti

Did you wake up today in a warm bed? Many Haitians slept on the streets last night.

Did you head to your fridge and find a cold drink there? Did you turn on your faucet and water come out? Many Haitians are thirsty.

Do you have food in your pantry? Many Haitians are hungry.

Do you have band aids in your medicine closet? Many Haitians are bleeding without bandages.

Do these pictures bother you? They bother me too. Many of my troubles seem to fade away when I look at the magnitude of troubles these people are facing right this very moment. It seems that we are so far from the country of Haiti. What can we do?

1. Offer a prayer today for those who are suffering.

2. Go to the Hope for Haiti Website. I have joined a group of mommy bloggers there. I have donated 2 books for one winner: “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper and “Deceptively Delicious” by Jessica Seinfeld. To enter the giveaway donate just $1! If these do not interest you – check out the other giveaways and do what you can for those who are suffering right this minute!

Jesus said in Matthew 25…”For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me…Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

  3. Courtney,
I blogged about this very thing — perspective and gratefulness — this week on my blog.

Five years ago, my family went through Hurricane Charley. We were without power, easy access to food, no clean, running water for weeks. And many of our homes were destroyed. I remember that time, think about how much horribly, incomparably worse the situation is in Haiti and it just makes me heartsick.

We can't be there, but we can donate and help someone be the helping hands and feet to these people. And yes, most importantly, we can PRAY!

  4. I'm giving $10 eCOUPONs to my online gift store Gifts For One Gifts For All (www.giftsforonegiftsforall.com) to those that have donated to organizations helping the Haitian earthquake victims. When the eCOUPON is redeemed, 10% of the purchase will also be donated to organizations helping Haiti. Read my blog for more details at http:/bit.ly/DONATE2HAITI.
