Heavenly Asphalt

Good Morning!  Okay I know I’m on a bloggy break – but I couldn’t help myself.  I had my quiet time in Colossians with the  Good Morning Girls this morning which had me thinking about heaven and our future inheritance.  And then I read this devotional by Anne Graham Lotz and felt compelled to share it.  It’s great perspective taking.

The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.
Revelation 21:21, NIV

If the apostle John hasn’t already conveyed to us that My Father’s House is spectacular, his description of the streets surely does. But I wonder if there is a subtle message to us contained in his description – a message that my wise mother, with her characteristic humor, pointed out to me when she dryly exclaimed that you can tell what God thinks of gold because He paves the streets of heaven with it! Gold is really just heavenly asphalt! In other words, there are many things down here on earth that we give a top priority to, which in eternity will be inconsequential and insignificant.

It’s sobering to contemplate how much time, effort, sacrifice, compromise, and attention we give to acquiring and increasing our supply of something that is totally insignificant in eternity. What are your priorities? As you live them out, will they have eternal value and significance?
Blessings,

~Anne Graham Lotz

Anne writes at Angel Ministries and has a live simulcast this weekend “Just Give Me Jesus”  I love Anne!

Okay – since I mentioned Anne’s simulcast – I have to mention Nancy’s too!  Nancy Leigh DeMoss from Revive Our Hearts ministry also has a live simulcast this weekend – True Woman 12  I have been invited for the past two years to attend this conference for free – as a blogger to live blog about it and share all the fun happenings but have not been able to do it (hello – the book is due in 10 days bah!) and I REALLY wish I could.  Someday…someday I’ll go but until then – it’s gonna have to be the Live simulcast for me!  Love sweet Nancy!

These are two women that inspire me – if you aren’t familiar with them – check them out!

This time will be a time of growth and I am so happy to be in the word… especially with guidance.
