Good Morning Girls!

I want to give you a sneak peek to what is ahead  {for all the planners out there. 😉 }

First – here is this week’s reading plan:

Genesis Reading Plan Week 3

I am so enjoying this walk through Genesis with you!  Can you believe how relevant God’s word is to our lives, thousands of years after it was written?  That is because of the work of the Holy Spirit.  He is illuminating us to see and understand the nature and character of God as you read!

I Corinthians 2:10-13 says:

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—

things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

Coming Next…

In the month of November, we will be moving to a reading plan that is 5 days a week.

I know change is hard and many of you like the  “7 days a week” reading plan. But some are already falling behind and some groups are feeling pressure during the weekends to check in.  We want GMG to be a blessing not a burden.

For those who can handle more, I encourage you to take the weekends and look into commentaries or listen to sermons regarding the readings from the week.  Use the extra two days to dig deeper.

For those who are concerned that it’s going to take FOREVER to get through the Bible at this pace. Take heart, I have plans to read through some books of the Bible more quickly than others.  For example, we may be able to read 2 chapters a day to get through books that are repetitive such as Job or are heavy such as Leviticus and Isaiah.

This is what November’s Reading Plan looks like:

And December’s Reading Plan:

We will break on December 19th for Christmas and start back on January 5th, 2015.

OH my goodness!!! Did I just say Christmas in a post?  I think I did!  And in case you were wondering – there’s 73 days until Christmas but who’s counting? Lol!

So glad you are joining us on this journey.

Walk with the King,

Courtney

  1. I love this journey!! I do enjoy the 7 day a week plan, but will also enjoy digger deeper and reviewing. Often times I find I spend an hour or more a day on our chapter. I can take advantage of the extra two days and do the additional study on topics I am enjoying. Thank you for keeping us on track and engaged. God led me to GMG for a reason!!

  2. He he…I love Christmas so I can’t WAIT till then. Thank you for taking the time to think about the reading plan and making the changes as you see fit. I am thoroughly enjoying the study so far.

  3. I’m LoViNG reading through the Bible with you! I’m sooo thankful! It just feels so good and so right. Feeling great and learning alot. God bless GMG!!

  4. I’m excited about going to 5 days a week. I’m looking forward to having 2 days open to either catch up if I fall behind or to use for reading or study of other topics. Thanks, Courtney.

  5. I luuuuuuuv the grace of this reading plan. I love knowing that if I keep going, I will eventually get through the whole Bible. I love your flexibility and the way you keep it fresh.

  6. Doing a SOAP study of the whole Bible is, well, enlightening! Another thought for the weekend days would be to go back and re-read the chapters we have done for the week – reading them as a whole group or just reading through the chapters as a whole for the next week. Sometimes I get so focused on the scripture portion for the day, but lose sight of the big picture!

I’m not part of an actual group. But I feel like I am part of one as I read the comments from others each day on the facebook page. What a blessing and inspiration!

    1. Love the idea of rereading or read ahead for the big picture on the weekends. I have actually done a SOAP of each chapter so far, which is huge because I don’t journal. Having this group had helped me write thoughts down. It’s been wonderful and reading on Facebook really is nice isn’t it? Celebrating.

  7. I love this journey on reading the Bible. Sometimes I will read the chapter and then go back and read it again. I’m really learming more about God! Thank you so much for doing this and you just don’t know grateful I am to have found your blog.

    God Bless You!!!!

  8. Love Christmas, and winter! Happy to hear it’s only 70 some days away. Also love that it’s only a 5 day a week reading plan. I have fallen way behind between my kids schedules and school homework, my college homework and classes and every day life.

LOVE that December is all Psalms! I Love reading Psalms!!!

Thanks for all that you do! May you have a blessed Sunday and week ahead

    Shannon

  9. Hi Courtney and girls, I’m really enjoying this walk through Genesis. I’m now saved for over 32 years and I’m still learning something fresh and new every time I study the Scriptures. I’m glad we’re going to a 5 day a week study. This will take some of the pressure off as I’ve missed a couple of days this month and am feeling guilty. Great idea!

  10. I love the new 5 day week study although I have to admit I will miss the 7 days as I look so forward to it each morning. To be honest I never thought I would say that. This is my first bible study & I was always afraid to do one because I was afraid to be put on the spot & made to feel stupid, but all of you are so wonderful & the way you teach is so amazing. I feel like I can speak up & ask anything at all. I have learned so much & the excitement I feel each morning to open my bible & read the new chapter & then get over to the GMG page is so wonderful & something I can stick with. I thank you so much for your wonderful program & love for our God.

  11. Hi, Courtney, Thanks for you love, thoughts, and efforts. I am really glad to go to 5 days and had considered suggesting we cut back a little. Although, I started allowing myself to “just read” and not always “study” when I was behind and trying to catch up. I just jot down a few sentences of summary instead of SOAPing. But, I really love SOAPing and try to make time for it. God bless you. Linda

  12. Hi Cortney,
Thank you and I love the reading plan! I haven’t read thru the entire bible but with this plan I think I can do it:). I even look forward to spending time in His word each day!

    Much love

    Natalie

  13. This is an exciting journey I am on with you and all the other girls, Courtney. I love the new plan for November and December. I am already 2 days behind and the weekend is rough. It is easier to just read the Bible on the weekend without writing about what I am reading. Thanks so much!!

  14. Hi Courtney, thanks for going to the 5-day week reading plan. That provides occasion to get other things done and to follow more closely the SOAP reading plan! 🙂
    God bless,
    Rosalyn

Honor and Glory to His name, Praise God!

  15. Hi Courtney!

Just wanted to say thank you for having this Blogging Through the Bible series! It has blessed me so very much already and I know we have just begun this journey! I wake up each morning excited to open up my Bible and I am really enjoying this long-term commitment of reading through the entire Bible. Thank you for leading me closer to the King…your ministry surely has made a big difference in my walk with God 🙂 Happy Sunday and blessings to you! -Nicole

  16. Hello,
I have been getting the Women Living Well emails to my inbox for over a year, but haven’t been reading due to walking semi independently as opposed to with God. I have turned my focus back to what is true, and been doing daily scripture time. Your email this week that included a passage from Philippians was an answer to prayer. Thanks for all of your hard work and faith. I have been recording my life moments at http://www.freelearningfamily.com. Writing is my way of remembering what is important and seeing the beautiful among the ordinary.

  17. I am enjoying reading through the Bible with you and reading your post and watching the videos!!! It doesn’t bother me how long it will take to get through the entire Bible. Just as long as we are reading God’s Word, that’s all that matters. I am really enjoying the weekly and monthly plans you have set up. I’m following along right with you! Thank you SO much for all you do and being a Godly woman for me to look to as an example!

  18. Thank you Courtney for your concern and figuring out ways to help us have a deep and and more powerful walk with God. I’ve read through the whole bible twice before but really never digged deep like i am now using the SOAP method. I love what God has been revealing to me through this journey with GMG it has really been a blessing to me! You are blessing. Thanks for all that you do to help us walk close to The King!

  19. I am absolutely terrible at reading the Old Testament and seeing how it applies to my life today. I feel much more hopeful that reading it with others will help me see better!

  20. I have always wanted to read the whole bible, and this one chapter a day plan is wonderful! With the SOAP method, I have been writing out the whole chapter in my journal. It takes quite a bit of time, but it helps dive deeper into the reading. Going to 5 days a week instead of 7 is definitely going to help! Thanks for considering that Courtney!
I’m really excited to start with the small groups! I really enjoy sharing thoughts and getting to know a small group of women in this sort of setting.

  21. Thank you, Courtney. I don’t really do Bible study on the weekends and so I’ve played catch up during the week. It will be nice to have only 5 days so I can feel like I am still going strong! This has been so enjoyable just reading one chapter at a time. I’m seeing things that I haven’t noticed. Also, I like that you blog about some of what we are studying as well. Thanks for all you do!!

  22. As a leader/facilitator in GMG for a while & then during the changes I must say I’m happy for my Co-Leader & I to be back with GMG!!
Love your books, your studies, & LOVE your heart Courtney!
By the way, January 5th (return to studies date) is my birthday. What a great day to celebrate!

  23. Hi Courtney,
Now that you are going to a 5-day reading plan, my FaceBook bible study group is VERY excited to be joining your read through the bible study. I have a question. Do you know a site and/or version of the bible that I can legally copy the daily readings from and post on FB?. I am planning to post the evening before so they will be there for my early risers. Thanks! Gay

  24. Hi Courtney,
I’ve been following your blog for about a year now. I just want to take a moment to thank you – and thank God – for leading me to your site. I have become more consistent in connecting with God and His Word since He led me to your blog. I also want to thank you for making the switch last year from a 7-day reading pattern on GMG to a 5-day pattern. As a WAHM I’m often challenged to balance the various areas of my life and it is such a relief to be able to catch up on a weekend if I’ve missed one or more of the chapters. I’m also thankful that there is a bit of breathing room between many of the series. I’ve been encouraging a couple of my friends to connect with GMG and hopefully we can form our own group one day. 🙂

Thanks again for your faithfulness, willingness to switch things up and innovate, and – as always – keep your eyes on the real purpose for this ministry: to glorify our King!

    Blessings,
    Candace Bishop
