    1. Courtney, I loved what you said today about 4 things we need to by used by God today. It really hit home. Thanks for sharing your gift. God gets all the glory and He does shine His light thru of us if we take the opportunity to listen and carry out what He and the Holy Spirit speaks to us.

  1. Thank you. Needing the encouragement – it’s not easy to parent a difficult child. I don’t always feel well-equipped, as I lose my temper, get angry and frustrated, etc. But this too shall pass, and all the glory will be given to God.

  2. Oh yeah, I feel that I’m not enough when it comes to motherhood. A LOT! Lately in training our children in the way they should go. We have a 5 yr old daughter and a 1 yr old son.

Since the birth of our son, our daughter has been exhibiting a lot of anger and aggression (yelling at and hitting me and my husband). I feel so inadequate in reaching her heart. We began with time-outs (I’ve followed the version mentioned in your book), tried completely leaning into the aggression with gentle yet firm love and no “punishment” and now back to time-outs. Nothing seems to help her get to the other side – that being where she no longer feels compelled to hurt us when she is frustrated, angry, sad, etc. I do feel that I am not enough. I can’t seem to properly guide her in the way God wants her to grow in this season of her life.

What gets in my way? The constant set backs. I know that she is only 5 but I feel that there should be some progress after working on this issue for over 6 mos. It’s only toward me and my husband so I know it’s an attention issue but I just can’t seem to hear how God wants me to train her here. Ugghhhh. Our 1 yr old has sadly already picked up on the undesirable behavior and he screams and hits at times too!

So yes, I feel that I am not enough. Not enough mom for all that they require of me in patience, wisdom and grace. I am beginning to feel that I really am missing His call here. I feel very helpless and discouraged. I just pray that the Lord will help me to hear Him with complete clarity so that I can understand the wisdom He wants to share with me and that He will bless me with the grace and strength and perseverance necessary to carry these children as He calls me to.

I’m a few chapters behind on the reading plan but am loving the direction you have set out for everyone. Thank you for your ministry. God Bless <3

  3. My setback is that I feel inferior to other mothers because I work outside the home. Most Christian mom blogs are directed at stay at home mothers. I feel like I am less of a mom and less called by The Lord because I have to work. I see my little 17 month old daughter in the evenings and on the weekends only. SAHMs all around me remind me how blessed they are and how God called them to quit work and stay home. This makes it difficult to feel as worthy as others. I try to focus on my own blessings, but it is a struggle sometimes.

    1. I am so sorry about that Kelly. Do not let what others think of you, determine what you know God is requiring of you.

Remember Galatians 1:10: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

This one thing I know – no matter where you are in life – at home, at work, or at a university – He wants to use you. You are more than worthy because we serve a worthy Savior – worthy is the Lamb.

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

      1. What a beautiful response to Kelly’s comment! There are so many working moms who feel this way – it’s unfortunate that in some circles Christian women use the work/stay-at-home issue to make others feel inferior and even less “called” or less “capable” as moms.
There are so many examples of working women in Scripture alone, that there’s absolutely no basis for this argument or for working moms to feel inferior. The only test we should apply to our lives and our work is the one you quoted from Galatians, Courtney – “is what I’m doing what the Lord has called me to do?”

    2. Kelly, I’ve felt this too actually, I work outside our home too and have three children but I’ve leant on God and through my work with my patients and colleagues there are so many broken hearts, so many searching and I believe God has me exactly where He wants me, in the centre of his will and I’m able to pray for them all, know their needs and be able to minister to them as God opens up opportunities for this to happen. So rest In God, He has you where you need to be for His work, after all that’s what He’s put us all here for and were each given different talents and circumstances within which to do our work for our God.

  4. Your new website looks very nice. But I have one question. On the other site, you had icons for articles published by others and bloggers. I enjoyed reading them and got a lot out of them. How do I gain access to them on your new layout. Thank you.

  5. Courtney, what an awesome video! I think we all need to hear that message…several times over! I think that I may have to stick that scripture quotation on my mirror for future reference. Thank you! <3

  6. Yes…I have felt this way many times, and the biggest thing that gets in my way is DOUBT. What helps me so much is going to Bible study and hearing other women say they feel insecure/inferior in certain areas in their life…and these are women that seem so confident and secure! This is why I think Bible study/fellowship with other Christians is so important and why God instructed us to meet together – so we can relate and realize that we all feel doubtful and insecure at times, and then have others encourage us and support us. It’s a beautiful thing!

  7. Wonderful video – it’s so important for us to know that God can use us in spite of ourselves, in spite of our failings, in spite of our weakness!!

  8. Wow. I cannot tell you how much I needed this today. I strive to be a great wife, mother etc. I go to church and I strive to live a Christian life. BUT I come from a very dysfunctional family just like you mentioned in Genesis. And right now I am in a feud with a cousin because of jealousy. Hurtful things were said from both of us. I really should have kept my opinions to myself. But my tongue tends to get me in trouble. After the incident happened…I felt like a phony. I know it was the Devil taunting me, “You call yourself a Christian yet you can’t control your tongue or get along with your family?!”
I have apologized to her for my words. I don’t feel that we need to be involved in each other’s lives anymore. What do you think is the right thing to do? Is it wrong as a Christian to to not associate with family members who upset you?
It bothers me that we are on bad terms because life is short. Thank you so much for this video!

  9. Wow! This is the powerful message of the gospel that Christ came for sinners, and can transform them and turn their lives around. I’m so thankful to God that He accepts us into His family from the moment we repent, trust in Christ, and decide to walk in right relationship with Him, and grow in maturity in the Faith. He then sees us as totally pure and righteous. Wow! Mind blowing. If the terms and conditions to come to Christ were based on us being “good enough”, “squeaky clean” do-gooding, keeping God’s laws, or measuring up to men’s standards – Goodness, I wouldn’t have stood a chance; none of us would. Just like these righteous men and women we’ve been reading about in Genesis shows all hearts are fashioned alike, and that God knows we are weak in our flesh and have human failings. Thankfully He doesn’t hold it against true Christians (“Born Again” of the Holy Spirit), when we mess up, but gives us supernatural power and strength to be used by Almighty God. (But to those who are in unbelief against Christ, He does hold it against them). Thank God that we are saved by His wonderful mercy and grace!

  10. Thank you so much I needed to hear this especially during this season in my life! I really appreciate you and all your blogs…Videos…Etc. thank you for being such a light!

  11. Thank you so much for your video today. We all need that reassurance that God does still love us and want to use us, even though we are so imperfect ! Amen ! Praise and Glorify Him

  12. Hi Courtney,
Quick question, are you doing SOAP as you are Blogging through the Bible? Or just reading?
I’m glad you dropped your readings to 5 times a week because, yup, I’m behind! Ha! That
being said should I be SOAPing as I read through? Are others doing so as well? Just wondering.
Thanks so much for doing this, I appreciate all the accountability I can get!

    1. Hey Michelle, I lead my own Good Morning Girls group.
What I would suggest is for you to SOAP one verse or two verses in each chapter.
Just writing it out, noting what you observed, how to apply it to your own life and then a prayer. I don’t usually write my prayers. I usually just say them.
      Hope that helps!

  13. Hey Courtney!
I’ve never really commented but I’m leading a GMG group. I’m a new christian and I have never felt qualified to lead this group of women in their walk. I have some regrets but I’m so happy I’m forgiven!
Thanks for sharing this timely video. God gave me the gift of leadership and I was feeling frustrated at church because I didn’t see how to put my gifts to use. The good morning girls group is a fabulous way for me to lead in a way that gives God all the glory!

  14. I am so thankful for this video and for your faithfulness to continue blogging and sharing what you are learning along the way. What a blessing you are. I thank God for you. He is using you in such a wonderful way and so intimate even though we are all scattered across the world. Praise His holy name!

  15. I had a moment this evening when I bent down to clean out the cat’s litter box. It was ONE extra thing I had to do that I had forgotten about earlier. I just wanted to sit down and relax after a long day. Anger, frustration, sadness, etc hit me all at once. I work part time and the other half I am home doing housework, shuttling my son to and from school, running errands, cooking meals, feeding the pets, etc. I slammed around things and just then the washer went off to tell me the wash was done. I kept thinking, ‘Aren’t I enough?? I don’t think I am because I wouldn’t be complaining, getting upset and tired’ I knew I had left your video up on my computer screen to watch at some point in the day. God sure knew what He was doing, because after watching it, I feel a lot better through His grace. I need to give myself grace. I am only human just as the people used in the Bible were. Thank you so much for sharing with us that it is ok, that God will always guide us to where we need to be.

  16. Oh did I need this message & what a wonderful video. I have always felt I am not good enough for anything. So when it comes to do doing for God I really do not feel good enough, but after watching your video I do know now that I am good enough for God. As I have been reading through the bible with you I thought about what you said about what all has happened in Genesis & it is so true that God has used everyone that has made huge mistakes. I have reflected on that & it is no different then my mistakes so I need to let go & accept that I am good enough. Thank You so much for sharing this because had you not pointed this out I would have just keep going on hiding & feeling like this person that was not good enough for Gods work. I also thank you for your Bible Study reading the bible from cover to cover it is my first time ever doing a bible study because I was afraid of doing one, for fear of being made fun of. With your bible study it is so wonderful, I have learned so much & I have commented with my thoughts & never dreamed that I would do that, but I did it & I felt so good about it & the response was wonderful. Please keep up your loving work Walk With the King
