This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8

Here is the verse of the week!

Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart...

  1. Courtney, thank you for all of your hard work and encouragement. I have been reading with you from the beginning and it has become a wonderful habit that I really enjoy. Looking forward to Proverbs!

  2. This is my first GMG study and I’m so excited to learn and grow with you, in Him! What better book than Proverbs to start this journey?

  3. Courtney,
The video was great!! I’m telling my groups to go watch it. It’s so informative! Thank you!!
I’ve been counting down the days for our Proverbs study to start. Praying for all the leaders and women who will be studying together!!

  4. I’m so excited to start the study with you tomorrow. It’s my first formal study and I’m not sure I’ll fall asleep tonight. Thank you for all the resource options available to make our journey they Proverbs successful.

  5. Super excited about doing this! It’s my first study like this. I am a pastor’s wife from rural Indiana with 4 kiddos and 1 bunny baby! 🙂

  6. I am excited to get started. I am from Farmington, MO. Mother of 8 and school mom to many 6th graders. Using this summer to dig into God’s Word.

    1. I am also from Farmington, MO! Small world! I am a mother of two boys and a school mom to 22 Kindergarteners! Aren’t summer breaks wonderful?!?!

    2. I work in Farmington and I’m moving here this week!! How exciting to see other ladies from town here! I’m a mommy to 4 (2 boys and 2 girls). I’m not a school mom, but I do help manage to keep the 20,000 citizens of the city calm when they have an emergency! Have a blessed day everyone!

  7. Looking forward to walking through Proverbs. I’m from Chicago area and I joined a FB empty nester group of women for this Proverbs study. In six weeks, I have a daughter getting married, so it’s really vital for me to stay calm, cool and collected. Focusing on God’s words of wisdom from Proverbs will help me not worry about wedding details. (Worry is the opposite of trust! Very sweet that this week’s memory verse is just what I need to remember).

  8. Still having trouble getting connected with a group. I am hoping I can figure it out tonight.

  9. Hi Courtney,
I am just wondering if you are able to make the weekly questions a printable? I am in Australia, so typically there is a time delay between your posts and when I study… would be great to have all the questions printed out on hand for whenever I study (I think you did it for the book of Matthew – which was fabulous!).
Thanks in advance if it is possible. Kylie 🙂

    1. Hi Kylie – Ohhhhhh – I knew I was forgetting something!

Yes – I can provide this – I’ll try to have it as a pdf printable next Monday…remind me if I forget. Lol!

So glad you are a joining us all the way in Australia!!!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  10. I’m so excited to start reading Proverbs. I have always wanted to and now have a chance to really dig deep into the word. Thanks for choosing to do this book of the Bible

  11. I am SO, SO excited to be joining GMG. I am excited to dig into Proberbs with all you precious women. Courtney, your love for Jesus is contagious and He is beautiful on you.

      1. Can I still join the forum? I hadn’t realized I had to sign up to be in it. I printed everything off & got my highlighters. I thought it was all done on the women living well site.

  12. Looking forward to starting this Bible study! With a 3 year old and 9 month old at home, I find it hard to get out to Bible studies, so I love being able to do some online. 🙂

  13. Would it be possible to get a one sheet printable made each week for the discussion questions? I’d love to print and glue it into a notebook on left hand pages so I can write on right hand pages. I know someone told me they’ve been available in a printable sheet for some other study(s) in the past. I don’t have a local group or anything so having my “reflection” questions one place would be grand.

  14. Hi Courtney,

Thank you and your leadership team for all your hard work, dedication, and encouragement. I have been following you since I started the book of Mathew. Your ministry has blessed me more than I probably know right now. I never thought following a girls bible study online would bring me closer to God. This is exactly what I wanted, a closer relationship with God and your ministry has helped me. I pray that Good Morning Girls will continue to grow closer to God each day and that together we can help bring more souls closer to God.

Thank you again. God bless you and your family.

    Sincerely,

    Jessica Medina

  15. Hi!
God showed me this exciting group and study – I love Proverbs! To study it with others will be interesting and help to refresh lessons learned and to learn from God’s Word. We have a small group to study this together – learning more about your site, guidance, and blogging! I started a blog, very simple and “short.” Hope I can expand it to help my group to study together and share with others.
    Thanks!

  16. I’m new to this blog. I actually cannot remember how I came to find you and your blog, I just did. I guess God brought me here. 🙂 This is so encouraging and whenever I see you talking about God, it’s so inspirational. You’re overflowing with love for Him. When I get to have my own family, I’d like to be the kind of mother and wife that you are.

I guess my walk with the Lord is not as highly advanced as the other women here but I am really determined to learn more from you and from other women around the world.

DO know that what you and all the women here are doing greatly inspires women like me to continue walking with the Lord. Thank you!

Blessings to you and your family!

  17. I am excited to do this Bible Study as well as learn the SOAK method, but I have one question: Why only week days? What prayer life/bible study do you do or have on weekends?

Thank you for all the FREE resources…that is important to me.

    1. Hi Emilie,

I am often preparing and researching and writing for the following week’s blog posts on the weekends.

At one time, we were doing – 7 days a week – reading plans and many women could not keep up and fell behind and grew discouraged. For those who stay on schedule we encourage you to use the weekend to dig deeper into the past week’s reading though Bible Study tools like Concordances, commentaries, and devotionals. 😉

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

      1. Thank you. That was what I assumed 🙂 I appreciate the time and prayers you put into this project to benefit us! I have a couple other bible studies based on random verses that I will do on weekends! I need to stay in the habit.

I have been doing the SOAK method as well as an acrostic poem for each chapter. Today I did WISDOM and yesterday I did PROVERBS. Just a little more depth and thought.

        Wisdom and understanding
        Insight and knowledge
Seek wisdom like silver or a hidden treasure
Devote yourself to Him and never forget
Our land of integrity and righteous people
Must follow the example of good people

        People come together
        Resourceful
        Overall: honest, just and fair
        Value knowledge
        Educated
        Reverence for the Lord
        Be honest
        Stay away from sinners

  18. Hi Courtney:

Awesome intro video! I live in S.C. and really excited to begin this study of Proverbs using the SOAK method. I’ve purchased your fabulous journal so I’m good to go bright and early in the morning. I was excited to see the verse of the week because Proverbs 3:5-6 is my life verse, and what a beautiful picture of it. This is actually my first study with GMG and I’m loving this method of study because it ties in nicely with my Precept studies. I joined an empty nester GMG FB group and it’s been awesome connecting with other ladies who are also experiencing empty nest
syndrome. We are having a fabulous time!

  19. Howdy from Montana! I’m a homeschool mom to 3. Moving to a new town/house in mere days (eeks!). This isn’t my first study with GMG but it’s been a while since I’ve done one. Don’t have a group, might start one when we get moved and settled.

Fun small world fact: We have a mutual friend on Facebook!

  20. Hi everyone!
I am new to GMG’S and am very excited to do this study with you all! I joined an email group for this first time of doing the study. The journal is supposed to come today. And I finally found the Bible you are using and got it ordered which will be here tomorrow ( Amazon was out of stock!) I can’t wait to get started! 🙂

  21. I love this!! I have been with you since last September. I have missed a day or two here and there but have always caught up and got back on track. I’m not currently in a GMG group but would love to be when the groups open up for new members. Proverbs is possibly my favorite book in the Bible. Can’t wait to dive into it again. Thanks Courtney, for all that you do and for bringing this Bible study to us.
    ~Blessings~

  22. I’m so excited about this study! My name is Megan. I am leading a facebook group for women in my hometown. I can’t wait to see how God works through us. Thank you Courtney for all that you do!

  23. Good morning,
I’m very excited to be joining this study of Proverbs. One of my dear friends introduced me to you and to the SOAK method. Looking forward to trying it out!

  24. Happy Summer! I have been reading thru the Bible with you from tge start of this long-term study and I love it! Thank you for reaching out to the world and keeping it simple as God does ☺ So looking forward to discovering and realizing what He wants me to learn this summer!

  25. Hi! I’m Becky! This is my first GMG bible study. My daily bible reading nefinitely needs some work, so I’m glad I found GMG to help me! Excited to get started! 😀

  26. looking forward to this study. I didn’t get to buy the journal, but I’ll be following along.

    From Texas (DFW)

  27. Hi! This is my 1st GMGs study! I’m super excited to learn and grow with others this summer. As someone newly saved, less than a year, I’m always looking for ways to gain knowledge and surround myself on and off line with others on the same path. Proverbs is one of my favorite books! Thanks for your resources!

  28. Hello! This will be my first GMG study and I’m very excited! I purchased the Proverbs book, highlighters and Inductive Study bible. I’m not in a group – just doing this study as my quiet time every morning. I’m really looking forward to the SOAK method and also delving into the word deeper using the highlighting and markings outlined on your blog. Thank you so much for this!

  29. Hi I am new to all this tech stuff so bear with me! How do I access the blog? I clicked on the link under your video but it brought the same page up. I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to be looking for! And it seems like checking in on the blog daily is just for accountability and the actual lesson is on Friday is that right? I’m really excited to do this study and just want to make sure I’m doing it right!

  30. I did one chapter on my own. Just reading. I am from outside Seattle, WA. This is my first time doing the study. I have been sharing this AWESOME resource with every woman looking to get into a reading plan or study.
Thank you for this. (Thanks Candace Cameron Bure for the introduction on her Facebook page!)

  31. I live in Minnesota. I am excited as well to be doing this study. Are there any other Catholic women participating?

    1. I am catholic and participating…I am not part of a group as I am new to this. So far I like the SOAP method and have added an acrostic poem each day as well.

  32. This is my first GMG study also. I don’t have an inductive study Bible or any of the markers at this time so I will be improvising. I have the journal though.

  33. Love doing these GMG Bible studies. Am really looking forward to Proverbs study! I live in NC, mom to 3 teens/preteens, 1st grade teacher.

    1. hi Susan, I am also a mom of 3 in NC but mine are 1,2, and soon to be 5. this is my first time studying with the good morning girls.

  34. Hi! My name is Alena and I live on Long Island. My cousin introduced me to this study. It’s my first ever GMG study. I’m not in a group, but it is part of my morning devotions. I have been reading the bible through in a year and the timing hit just right to start in Proverbs. I’m excited to see what God teaches me through this.

  35. Good Morning Girls 🙂 I am from Southern CA, currently living in Southwest Florida. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed doing these studies as it truly forces me to grasp each verse & then journal on the verses that speak to me the most. I married my high school sweetheart & am a stay at home mom of 4 boys, although 2 have already left the nest :). I am blessed to be doing this study with a private group on FB.

  36. Good morning! My name is Yolanda and I am from Whitewater, Kansas. I am so looking forward to this study!

    Thank you!

  37. I am curious as to how the book is supposed to be read in accordance with the study, A chapter a day? Maybe there is no specific way, or maybe I missed instructions in the post, thoughts anyone?

    1. Hi Liz,

We are reading one chapter a day in Proverbs. So today read just Proverbs chapter 1.

If you are referring to the Proverbs 31 eBook – we will not be using it until week 7 of our summer study when we get to Proverbs chapter 31. When we get to Proverbs 31 – rather than reading it for just one day – we will break it up into sections and do an in-depth study for 5 days…but we are not there yet.

More details are to come for that special week.

Sorry that was confusing. I just wanted women to have all the tools for the summer study at the start.

So glad you are joining us!
      Courtney

  38. super excited to start this today! love all your studies! ordered the journal through amazon but has not shipped yet so will use notebook until it comes in! also ordered the dig for my step-daughter, we do shared parenting so we can only work on hers every other week but it sure will be nice refresher each week I do it with her!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. hi, I look forward to studying proverbs with everyone here. when I was in school we had a proverbs study book and everyday there was a lesson. I got so much from it then. I am so excited to do this again with new friends. on chapter one I learn to follow God and not wrong. I have already seen what happens when I follow wrong, so I am so happy I know not to make that mistake again and keep following God.
may God bless you all and I look forward to this.
    thank you , Stephanie

  40. Good morning!
This is so exciting to be in God’s word with hundreds of other women all at the same time! We at our church have 49 wonderful ladies, broken into 4 groups(70ish thru teen girls) have committed to holding each other accountable to read God’s word!! Wow! the first chapter cuts right to heart of good/evil! To know God’s understanding and His great wisdom so that we will not walk with the darkness of this world but do great things for His Kingdom and that we get great instruction/wisdom by spending it in His word. I love the color chart it really made it clear to me as I would really think of what color needed to be used on these words I was reading! I am excited to see what God will do with these ladies and how He will use them to impact the world around us!!
    In Christ
    Doreen

  41. Hi!

My name is Kelly and I’m from northeast Tennessee. This is my first GMG study. I came across this from another group I follow on Facebook. I’ve also seen so many pictures posted on Twitter that has made me look into the wonderful studies you are doing. This is a timely one for me as well. I’ve always wanted to go through the book of Proverbs. It is not an easy book to study on your own. I’m looking forward to walking with you all on this journey.

  42. This is my first GMG. This is also a tough season in my life right now and I need women of good character and positive influences in my life. I am so happy that I found this site and can work on reading through the Bible with ya’ll.

  43. I am the mother of two children and a school Counselor in Missouri. I can not wait to see how God will use this study in my personal and professional life. Thanks you for your hard work.

  44. Hi Courtney,
You look so beautiful and refreshed after the break! Love your outfit again. 🙂 I’m in VA….you were close when you were in one of my favorite places – Williamsburg! Looking forward to continuing with you as we go through the book of Proverbs. I’ve been following you for some time now…..you have pointed me to The King! 🙂 Warmly, Meghan

  45. I am really looking forward to this bible study! Our third baby is 5weeks old and I’m really needing this. I always enjoy your bible studies! Thank you Courtney!!

  46. Hello all! My name is Jennifer, I am 31- almost 32, and am from the Richmond, Virginia area. I came across this page by following Candace Cameron-Bure, who had posted this link on her page. I know that she is a devout Christian woman whom I look up to and admire since day 1 on Full House, so I knew this study would be legit! I have not received my journal yet in the mail, but as soon as I receive it I will begin. I have not quite read the Bible entirely, just studies here and there. Unfortunately I do not go to church, because I have to work Sundays in order to pay back my student college loans. So, I have decided to attempt reading and studying the Bible on my own. Wish me luck! I will probably have thousands upon thousands of questions!

  47. Hi! I’m a SAHM of three boys and wife to a high school teacher in Southern California. This is my first Bible study, ever! Our summer break just began today, so this is a great time for me to participate. Thank you!

  48. Hi, my name is Angel. This is my first venture into a bible study group. I am looking forward to it. I leave in North Carolina. I am raising my 2 year old granddaughter. My daughter 24, son 20, and mom live in Florida where I am originally from. But I love the Carolinas and the beauty that HE has but all over this state.
I have recently lost my dad in March. It is still so hard for the family and I. I hoping that this will bring me closer to the Lord and be able to help my family during this difficult season.

    1. Angel I love the Carolinas too I lived in NC for awhile. I am in Texas now. I will be praying for you family. I recently lost my day as well. He passed from Lung Cancer on Christmas day last year.

  49. Good morning to all…
This is my first GMG. I ran across the study through an email I received. I am super excited to dive in and really “learn” the word. I am from Texas and work full time with a family of 2 (16&8) girls and husband which are also full time. Nice to meet you all.

  50. Joining from Wichita, Ks, i am not part of a group. I have been going through struggle after struggle trying to maintain the path Ive set for myself. I need help letting go of the rains, my life has been tumultuous. As the eldest of 6 kids, i had to be in control. My amazing mother worked 100 hrs a week to support us while my father was aging and caring for us children was too much with his disabilities. I lost my childhood and for that ive always been controling. I am losing my husband because of that innate fear to let go. In August of 2013 God gave me a miracle by saving my husband’s life. My husband was hit head on by a car while riding his motorcycle. He was coming to pick me up from work. It sits with me everyday that i could be widowed. I hover and worry when he leaves the house but i know that God didnt save my husband so i could live life overcome with fear. Im ready to live out promises and by his principles. I pray for understanding of these instructions Solomon was gifted with so that i may be a blessing to someone else

  51. Hello! I am a blessed Momma of 13 – ten home through the gift of adoption. We live in beautiful Colorado, where we raise sheep and Alpacas – for meat and fiber art. We also love to camp and enjoy the gorgeous mountains that we live close to.
Thank you so much for this Bible Study. I am really looking forward to this time.

  52. Hello! I am so excited to be starting Proverbs with you all today! I am encouraging a small group of ladies in Alberta, Canada and we are on fire for Jesus!!! I have been blogging through the bible since you started, and I can’t seem to get enough. The Word has never been so alive and applicable for me before! Thank you for your ministry!

  53. First time with GMG, and I’m looking forward to going through the Book of Proverbs and hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit as He brings fresh insight, wisdom, counsel, and correction even through the Word of God. 🙂

  54. Wow…it is so encouraging and uplifting to see all the women tuned in and following along in the same study, from all over coming together with one mind! How awesome. Thankful my friend Diane H. thought to invite me. God will be grand in this.

  55. So excited to join in on this study. This is my first study here and I am excited to get to know the ladies in my group.

  56. So excited to join GMG at that start of a book, as usually I come along after it has already begun. I just finished the book of Matthew by myself , and I think I will gain so much more by being on track with the group for this book. I have to admit Proverbs is always a little difficult for me to understand.
Thanks so much for this blog, it has completey changed the way I do my Bible study.

  57. This is my first GMG study. I’m super excited and looking forwarding to learning so much. I have been going to some hard times in my marriage and other family relationships over the last couple of years and Proverbs seems to be a perfect place to learn how to get through these times with God’s help and wisdom.

  58. This is my first time doing the Good Morning Girls study. I am excited. I really think the video hit me today as everything you said is so true. We read the scripture and walk away and forget. Proverbs is such a great book of the Bible and I’m excited to do this with everyone else.

  59. Thank you for the new Bible Reading Plan printout. My original is a mess and I was looking for a new one to put in my binder and you anticipated me! You are a Blessing!

    Thankful in Columbus OH,
    Leslie

  60. Hello there I’m excited to be here with you ladies today! I’m a wife of 43 years, mother of two and grandmother (nana) of four-the delights of my heart- and I just recently left my pre-K teachers position of many years due to health issues and I live in Camarillo, CA Ventura County.

I can’t wait to dig in here with you. I adore Courtney and her teachings.

  61. My name is Susan and this is my first adventure with you. I am an older seasoned soul. My life changed when I volunteered to babysit a baby for a year, and I went form all morning long devotions to reading a Psalm and sometimes nothing. I have been baby sitting since she was two weeks now she is ten months. My quiet time has been such a struggle. Also eye surgery, it has been difficult. I asked God is there something I can do on line. I did do my study for church, but it was a hurry no soaking at all. I desperately wanted something just for me. I wanted a study not fluff. Someone I know posted something you posted from sweet to the soul.. and the rest is history. I liked both fb pages the same day. I am excited and SO thankful. To God be the Glory. New friend Sue

  62. Just got baptized on 14th of June and looking forward to bringing God closure to me and my heart. And doing this proverb will help me understand the bible. So excited to do this. I do this in the morning before work w/coffee & at my desk to help relieve the daily stress at wrk.

  63. This is my first bible study and I am looking forward to it! I am also doing Dig with my two daughters that are 9 and 5. I love all the printables and how easy you make it.

  64. Second time attempting a Bible Study…the first time (at Church) I fell behind due to hectic schedules and did not complete. This time around I am fully committed! Happy to be here!

  65. This is my second attempt to join a formal study group. I am determined to stick with it this time. I have become lax in my bible reading and study. I hope this group will help me get excited about it again.

  66. How do I find a group to join? I am 62, still work fulltime as an RN, in college, have 5 adult children, 9 grandchildren and we have one great grandchild.Looking forward to this.

  67. California girl so the Friday morning chat is a little early for me! Looking forward to walking through Proverbs with you all. Chapter 1: Before Christ in my life there was no wisdom and I did some pretty dumb stuff. I remember reading Proverbs for the first time and thinking, “How I wish someone had showed me these verses 30 years ago!” I’ve learned to tell other women where to find the answers all those self-help books won’t help them answer.

  68. Getting a late start this evening but so thankful to do this study with you ladies. Thanks for all the great resources, Courtney!!

  69. This is my first GMG Bible study. I found your website a couple of weeks ago. I am so looking forward to this study. In 2 weeks, I am leading our VBS which is called Camp Kilimanjaro, Trekking Through Provers (It is from Answers in Genesis). I can’t wait to share what I learn here with our kids. Thanks for your love for Him and for helping women like me get connected.

  70. This is my first GMG study and I am very excited! I have 3 little ones (4, 2, and a 7 month old) so my quiet time (for now) is when all 3 are in bed at night. I would love to transition this time to mornings so we will see how that goes in the weeks ahead. Thank you so much for all the resources and helpful hints you provide for us. I also enjoyed listening to you in the videos. Thanks so much!

  71. Courtney,

I have tried this once before, however, I did not complete it. I’m praying that I will reach the finish line on this Proverbs Bible study and keep going from there to the next bible study. My goal is to read, meditate, learn, and grow in the word of our Lord.

  72. Hi: I am from michigan. A pastor’s wife. I currently have retired from being a medical transcriptionist. I have 2 grown children. 76. Hi… I am from NC just outside of Charlotte. I’ve recently returned to church and have never done a Bible Study. I was online looking for books to do it by myself when I stumbled upon you through Amazon Saturday night. In Sunday School the next morning, the teacher talked about Proverbs so I took that as a sign from God that I needed to do this with you all! The only part I’m totally nervous about, but am really wanting to do, is marking up my Bible. I’ve got my gel highlighters from my day planner. 🙂 I’m also doing the journal which I hope will keep me accountable. I don’t know of anyone who can do this with me so it will have to do for now. Thank you so much for having this at this time because it is the perfect time!
    Love, Margaret

Happy to have begun reading through Proverbs.~ Enjoying using the highlighters this cycle. *Thank you for the beginning video: sharing the purpose of this resource as being to slow down for greater understanding and absorption of the Scripture as we go, made me want to utilize it more consistently. 90. Good morning Courtney,

I recently relocated to my hometown of Virginia Beach, VA and I miss my ladies Bible study group. I was led here because I wanted to join a fellowship that studied the Bible deeper. I have looked quite a bit in the last year and I have to say I really enjoy your website and the videos.

I unfortunately do not use FB but I will continuously use the blog as my connection during this private study. Thank you again for all the hard work in reaching out and studying the Bible deeper with all of us. I look forward to learning more with God and from all the ladies!

I was on Pinterest when I saw wonderful bible study and felt as though this was my time to seek knowledge of the Lord and grow in my faith. I am committed and excited to learn and understand Him and myself through this journey.

I want to thank the women of GMG for their dedication to this study and to the people logging on from all over the country.

  99. Hi Courtney!
A friend of mine just introduced me to this website a few days ago, and I absolutely LOVE the SOAK method of studying scripture. I have been writing my notes down on notebook paper, and then realized you have the short ebooks for each book you have gone through, so awesome! I was wondering if you will be waiting until the end of the study to post that up for Proverbs. I was going to make my own pages to print out if not, but I wanted to check here first. Thanks so much!

  100. I’m currently reading Women Living Well and explored the web site, that is how I found out about the online Bible study. I love the book of Proverbs and love spending my morning in my sun room with my sweet puppy exploring and examining God’s word. (with my large cup of coffee!) Both the book and Proverbs are convicting and just what I need. I’ve got several girlfriends joining us in the study.

  101. Hi! I am sooo excited to start studying one of my favorite books of the Bible!!! I’m a little late but I don’t mind!!! I went yesterday and bought the color pencils you recommend, printed out all the amazing tools you freely give! This came in such a good time in my life, i was needing sooo much a plan to follow since we haven’t been able to find a church home to congregate!!! I really want to thank you for such an amazing job thank you For all the resources, tools, printables, ideas, encouragement, teachings, etc that tou give us for FREE just for LOVE! What a woman of God you are. I really admire you and your beautiful family. God bless!!!
