10 Verses For When You Are Dating Someone

Do you feel that you are in a healthy dating relationship?

Or do you question whether you are dating the right person?

Dating someone can definitely be fun and exciting, but it can also be confusing at times. We have to be willing to sacrifice in a relationship, but we also don’t want to compromise our beliefs and settle for the wrong person.

The Bible doesn’t directly talk about dating, but God’s Word gives us so much wisdom as to the important qualities to seek out when dating someone. He wants you to grow in all of your relationships.

Let’s take a look together at what his word says.

Here’s 10 Verses for When You Are Dating Someone-

1. Choose someone that walks with the Lord.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? ~2 Corinthians 6:14

2. Choose someone who bears good fruit.

Make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. ~2 Peter 1:5-7

3. Choose someone who will remain pure with you until marriage.

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. ~1 Corinthians 6:18-20

4. Choose someone that will lead you closer to Christ.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. ~1 Thessalonians 5:11

5. Choose someone that will honor you with their words.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. ~Ephesians 4:29

6. Choose someone that is able to apologize when they have done wrong.

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. ~Matthew 5:23-24

7. Choose someone that will respect your family & friends and make time for them.

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. ~Romans 12:10

8. Choose someone that will compromise and not be controlling.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  ~1 Corinthians 13:4-7

9. Choose someone that will pray with you.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. ~James 5:16

10. Choose someone who loves the Lord above all.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. ~Matthew 22:37-38
