Introducing the 14th Annual Making Your Home a Haven Bible Study

Welcome to the 14th Annual Making Your Home a Haven Bible Study!  14 years ago, we began this series and never could I have imagined how much it would resonate with so many women around the world!

Each year we have a different focus.
This year we are focusing on ->
the Names of Jesus!

This Bible Study is going to help you slow down.  It is going to force you to pause every day and enter into the presence of our Almighty God through thanksgiving, prayer and the reading of God’s Word.

We are going to take a close look at the names of Jesus and experience him as the Bread of Life, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Living Water, Messiah, Redeemer, Savior, Shepherd, Son of God, the Way, the Truth and the Life and so much more!

Let’s take care of our souls by intentionally creating a physical environment, as well as a spiritual environment, in our homes that brings us closer to God.  As a result, we will experience peace and a sense of calmness inside our souls, no matter what we are facing.

  • Each week, I will provide for you a practical challenge of something I do in my home that makes it more of a haven.  I hope you will take the challenges.  They do make a difference!
  • Each weekday, we will pause, give thanks, pray and meditate on God’s Word through SOAKing in the daily scripture reading for the day.
  • This journal gives you a daily reflection, a daily prayer already written for you and space for journaling your thoughts on the verse of the day.
  • There is also space in the journal for your weekly gratitude list and prayer requests.
  • Also, you will find 4 videos, one per week (every Monday), that correspond with the scriptures we are studying.

This study begins on Monday, October30th!

Here’s the Topic Schedule:

Week 1: Jesus’ Name is…Amighty, the Bread of Life, a Carpenter, the Door, and Immanuel

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel”
(which means “God with us”).

Matthew 1:23

Silence and solitude open the door to communion with God. If we want to grow spiritually we have to love a life of prayer and reading God’s Word. We have to go in deeper with God and commune with him.

Challenge for the Week: Start a daily gratitude list AND go buy an extra-large candle and light a candle everyday in your home.  Each time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye, stop, pray and give thanks.

Week 2: Jesus’ Name is…God, King of Kings & Lord of Lords, Lamb of God, Light of the World and Living Water

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12

There is no short cut for spiritual growth. Connecting with God on a deeper level requires time. We must slow down, be still, listen, pray and commune with the God of the universe.  He is near.

Challenge for the Week: Keep your candle going and add to it soft music everyday in your home.  Choose worship, classical or another form of peaceful music that helps you focus on the Lord.

Week 3: Jesus’ Name is…Man of Sorrows, Messiah, Redeemer, Resurrection & the Life, and Savior

Jesus said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live,

even though they die.
John 11:25

God is already right there with you – you only need to acknowledge his presence. When we slow down to pray, we grow spiritually and as we grow, our intimacy with God goes deeper.

Challenge for the Week: Keep your candle burning, the music playing and purchase a small bouquet of flowers for yourself.  Let that bouquet be a daily reminder of God’s love  and presence with you.

Week 4: Jesus’ Name is…Shepherd, Son of God, the Vine, the Way, the Truth & the Life and the Word

“I am the vine;
you are the branches.
If you remain in me and I in you,
you will bear much fruit;
apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

Seek out a place of solitude to get alone with God.  Stop your work, turn off your phone, the television, music and computer.  Be still.  Practice the presence of God. Go outside or find a place in your home, where you can be alone and simply rest and be at peace with the Lord.

Challenge for the Week: Rest is a need not a want.  Rest is not optional and it is a blessing from the Lord.  So, seek out a place of solitude to rest and pray. Get alone with God outside or in your home.  Be still with God and take a much needed bubble bath, nap or still time with the Lord.
