๐Ÿ’• If you’ve Been Carrying a Lot Lately…

Life has been a lot lately.

๐Ÿ’” ๐Ÿ˜ข ๐Ÿถ Those of you who follow me on instagram or facebook might have seen that this past Monday we said a heart breaking goodbye to our sweet little dog, Snowball. She was a wonderful companion for 12 years through all of life’s ups and downs.

I am still adjusting to how quiet the house is without her here at my feet! Ugh – I miss her so much!๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸŒธ But I am so so thankful for the blessing she was. God is good. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Part of grief is acceptance and I’m learning to accept that life just throws us curve balls sometimes, doesn’t it?

I know I’m not alone and all of us face these curve balls and so I wonder today, what might you be carrying that simply feels heavy?

In Matthew 6, Jesus gently teaches us not to worry about tomorrow, not because tomorrow doesnโ€™t matter, but because our Father is already there. He reminds us to look at the birds. Look at the flowers.

๐ŸŒท Your heavenly Father cares for themโ€ฆand you are worth far more.

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 โ€œAnd why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe youโ€”you of little faith?

31 So do not worry, saying, โ€˜What shall we eat?โ€™ or โ€˜What shall we drink?โ€™ or โ€˜What shall we wear?โ€™ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus also shows us how to pray in this chapter.

โ€œOur Fatherโ€ฆโ€
โ€œGive us THIS dayโ€ฆโ€
โ€œDeliver usโ€ฆโ€

There is something powerful about praying for THIS day.

Today’s bread.
Today’s grace.
Today’s strength.

You see, God does not pour tomorrowโ€™s grace into todayโ€™s hands. He gives us just what we need for the step right in front of us today. So, if youโ€™ve been carrying a lot lately too, I want to invite you to join me for 31 Days of Prayer.
