Here’s 4 New Releases You Don’t Want to Miss!

1.)  What Matters Most: A Bible Study Through the Book of Philippians by Karen Ehman

One of the best parts of blogging is getting to know so many godly women around the world. This author – Karen Ehman – is both a friend and a mentor to me.  Here’s a photo from this past summer, when we got away – just the two of us for a few days – to refresh and refuel.

I highly recommend her new Bible Study!  Here’s what it’s all about:

This world is full of struggles, disappointments, temptations, fractured friendships, and financial hardships, yet Paul’s letter to the Philippians claims we can still experience contentment, and find true joy, by prioritizing what matters most—Jesus.

This 7-session study, titled What Matters Most: A Bible Study Through the Book of Philippians, will help you to overcome worry, develop gospel-centered tools for navigating relational conflict, and learn to pray in a way that ushers in the peace that only Jesus gives.

If you want to lead this with a group there is a Leader’s Kit available that include seven interactive teaching videos, approximately 25-30 minutes per session.

2.) The Better Mom: Growing in Grace Between Perfection and the Mess by Ruth Schwenk

Ruth is another one of my favorite bloggers and travel buddies.  Here we are on a girls getaway trip in New York City, with some of our other blogging friends.

I got to read an early edition of Ruth’s book and endorse it! Here’s my endorsement:

Motherhood is a journey, and The Better Mom is the perfect guide for this journey.   Ruth’s transparency reminds me that I am not alone and that my discouragements and struggles are normal.  She is so real!  Ruth intertwines her life experience and stories with scripture in a profound way, as she reminds us that God is shaping us as we are shaping our children.

3.) Kind is the New Classy by Candace Cameron Bure

Candace is another wonderful and KIND woman, who I have enjoyed getting to meet.  Every time she releases a new book she sends me a copy.  She has visited my hometown for dinner and invited us to the View – backstage! She truly lives out the message of this book.

You gotta check out her newest book Kind is the New Classy!

As a woman in today’s world, you know what it’s like to feel pressure on all sides from clashing cultural expectations. How can you stay true to who God has uniquely created you to be in the face of the script you’ve been given? What’s more, how can you stand your ground with grace?

In Kind Is the New Classy, Candace reveals the thought patterns and practices that have empowered her to stay centered in who she is while practicing radical graciousness toward others. Whether you’re navigating major life choices, questions of calling and career, relationships, or personal goals, this book will show you how to keep your cool under pressure, respond to criticism with grace, stay grounded yet go places in life, stay true to who you are despite the expectations of others and stay centered in what ultimately matters the most.

4.) I Can’t Believe You Just Said That: Biblical Wisdom for Training Your Child’s Tongue by Ginger Hubbard

I used Ginger’s tool – Wise Words for Moms – for many years while I was homeschooling my children and I even recommended it here on the blog back in 2012!  So when she emailed me and asked for an endorsement of her newest book – I was so excited for the opportunity!

Here’s my endorsement:

I Can’t Believe You Just Said That! is a gem!  As a mom of teenagers, Ginger provides the guidance and wisdom that I long to have.  This book is biblical and practical and gives detailed solutions that will produce change in our homes.  I highly recommend this book as a wonderful resource for all moms!

Here’s more about this book:

The bestselling author of Don’t Make Me Count to Three! lays out a simple, Bible-based plan that shows parents how to help their kids tame their tongues and walk in the transforming power of Christ. Parents are often embarrassed or shocked by what comes out of their children’s mouths. Frustrated, they raise their voices, threaten, and coerce to try to change the behavior.

But what if there were a plan–pulled directly from God’s Word–that equipped parents to see the root behind their kids’ words? A plan that helped them address the heart of the matter in a calm and effective way?  If you need a plan? Then I Can’t Believe You Just Said That! is for you.

Don’t forget to add the Book of Psalms to your reading list!

  1. Would love some recommendation for a mature person (children have left home) to grown in love and wisdom of God.

Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald S Whitney: https://amzn.to/2rBiV83

Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper: https://amzn.to/2rG2U1N

Crazy Love by Francis Chan: https://amzn.to/2Kej0Gv

And any book by Elisabeth Elliot – I own them all. Lol!

Keep a Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliot: https://amzn.to/2rCOqi7

Discipline the Glad Surrender by Elisabeth Elliot: https://amzn.to/2rzmAE6

      Hope that helps! 🙂

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  2. Awesome recommendations! Thanks Courtney!

Some books I’m reading at the present moment:

    •Raising Real Men
    By Hal and Melanie Young
    “Surviving, Teaching and Appreciating Boys”

•Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit
    By Teri Maxwell
I like to interchange the word “homeschooling” with “mothering”. So much of this book applies to everyday motherhood, not just Homeschooling.

  3. Hello! Would you mind sharing the names of a couple of the other blogger names. I have been trying to remember a couple of them. One does a lot with cooking and the other one exercise. .? I hope this is correct. It’s been along time and I can’t remember their blog names. Thank you! April
