I can’t think of a better way to start out the new year

than in the book of John!

John is the fourth gospel and it is unlike the previous three gospels.  It is unique!  The book of John shows 7 signs and miracles.  6 of these miracles are not mentioned in the other gospels.   Also, there are almost no parables in John but it includes the seven “I AM” statements.  These statements are not included in the other gospels!  And finally, we will see our Savior and Lord lay his life down for us on the cross, rise from the dead and then walk and talk with his disciples one last time before sending the Holy Spirit. I can’t wait to see how God reveals himself personally to each of us as we read the book of John together!

If you are new, welcome to Good Morning Girls! We are so glad you are here!

We are Reading Through the Bible– one chapter a day – five days a week. There are no sign-ups or enrollments. We are reading the Bible, switching back and forth between the New Testament and the Old Testament. So far we have completed 21 books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Esther, Job, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Acts, Romans and James!  You can find ALL of the links to past studies on the GMG Resources Page. To keep track of all of the books you have completed use this printable below.  Notice there are no dates on any of our reading plans so anyone can join us anytime.

  1. I’m looking for to this, Courtney. Thank you for all the hard work and time you put into organising all these bible studies. This will be my first with you. I have ordered the book from amazon and praying it arrives to Australia in time for me to start when you start 🙂 Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.

    God bless you.

  2. Dynamic Catholic has also published a Bible study and DVD series for the Gospel of John called “Turning Point”. I had plans to start studying with my in-laws before your announcement so I’m super excited that you will also be reading the same Gospel. Now I don’t have to choose.
God must have something planned for me.

  3. Hi Courtney, I have been with you since the beginning of ‘blogging through the Bible’, have we really done 21 books? Looking forward to studying John, a book I have not done before. Just need to order the journal and finish the last few days of Ruth before then! This will help me get back into the routine! Thank you for all the work you put into these studies, you are such an encouragement.

    1. Hi Susan,

Wow! You have done all 21 books with me!!! That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing that – it is such an encouragement and blessing to me!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney 🙂

  4. I’ve been around since “blogging through the Bible” as well! I have folders with sub-folders in my email to stay organized and each study I’ve done has its own folder. They’re all under the umbrella folder “Women Living Well” in a folder named “Blogging Through the Bible”. I just created a John Study folder today!

    1. Nancy,

Wow!!! I love hearing this and your system of how you have kept them all organized! That’s wonderful and so encouraging to me. So glad you are back for the book of John – I can’t wait to begin with you!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney 🙂

  5. Hi Courtney! Thought we’ve also done 1&2 Peter, 1 &2 &3 John, and Jude. I have them marked in my Bible with the year 2015 which is when I started reading the Bible cover to cover with you 🙂

    1. Hi Ines,

You are correct! 🙂 We did do those books at the very beginning of the “Reading through the Bible” Series but I felt like we raced through them…so I want go back through them at a slower pace like I did the book of James – where we read half a chapter a day and we dig a little deeper – they are such good books! So when we get heavier into the Old Testament – like Isaiah and Ezekiel and some of those longer books – we will break them up with some of the shorter New Testament books like 1 & 2 Peter. I hope that will be okay with those who already read those at the very start. But It won’t be for a long while. 😉

I’m so glad you have been here that long and are joining us again!
      Lots of Love,
      Courtney 🙂
