Week 2 – Draw Near

Our relationship with God is meant to be so much more than just a quick 15-minute quiet time. We must go deeper. Our souls need to drink deeply from God’s living well. We must stop what we are doing and draw near to God.

When was the last time you sat quietly before the Lord in silence?

Our world is noisy. In order to listen and hear from God, we may need to change our location. Perhaps we need to go outside, go for a walk or shut the door to our bedroom and be alone. As we draw near to God, the invisible becomes visible.

Sometimes as we are silent before the Lord, he reveals things in our lives we need to deal with. Busyness tends to drown out the voice of God, but silence is a megaphone. When we take the time to be vulnerable before the Lord, he speaks.

As we listen and pray and read scripture, we commune with the God of the universe and we grow in intimacy with him. We experience the assurance that we are loved, and the reality of eternity comes alive. There is no greater delight than knowing God and experiencing him!

When was the last time you sat alone and sang a song to God?

The book of Psalms is the longest book of the Bible and it’s a book of songs. God delights in the praise of his people! In Psalm 100, we are told to shout for joy, worship with gladness, come before God with joyful songs, and give thanks for the Lord is good and his love endures forever. Let’s do that this week, as we draw near to God.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
—Psalm 100:1-5

Week 2 – Challenge

Keep your candle going and add to it—soft music every day in your home. Choose worship, classical or another form of peaceful music that helps you focus on the Lord.

My candle and soft music literally change the atmosphere of my home. While the rest of my home may be messy, my candle keeps on burning and my soft music keeps on playing. Morning, noon and night they serve me. My candle serves me with a flickering warm light, a pleasant scent, and a reminder to turn to God as my source of strength and help. My music serves me with a soothing sound. They don’t make messes, they don’t need managed, they just simply bless me and my family. I hope it blesses you too.

I know this time of the year can be very busy for women,
so I created a 31 Day Christmas Prayer Journal for you!

Peace, Be Still is a 31 Day Christmas Prayer Journal
available exclusively on Amazon.

If you’d like to purchase a printable-digital copy
(so you have it right away) at half the price
click the Buy Now button below.

This Journal Contains:

  • A weekly Scripture reading about the birth of Jesus
  • A daily verse focusing on one of four themes: Jesus as our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.
  • A daily thought and observation to help you focus on the verse of the day.
  • A daily reflection question, with space to ponder and apply the verse to your life.
  • A daily prayer prompt, with space to write out your prayer for the day.

Here’s a Look Inside:

How is this different from other WLW journals?

1.). This journal is 7 days a week rather than just 5 days a week.

2.) This journal does not use the SOAK method.  It includes a verse for the day, a thought for the day,  a reflection question for the day and space to write your daily prayers.

3.) I will not be leading this as a Bible Study on-line.  But you can do it with friends and use the daily reflection question as a discussion question.

I will be taking a break here on-line during the month of December.  I am doing some remodeling here on the blog and preparing for some new things coming in the new year!  So be sure to check back in 2021.  I can’t wait for you to see!!!

  1. Hi! Could you list your favorite worship music on your website posts? Instagram is having trouble with #hashtags because of the censorship issues we are seeing on social media. I couldn’t pull up #makeyourhouseahaven or #womenlivingwell. Thank you so much!
